* OmnidisciplinaryLawyer: Jack is stated to specialize in state and constitutional law, but the Gang comes to him for divorce issues and the [=McPoyle=]-Ponderosa trial... all of which he [[SubvertedTrope completely botches]] because he's totally unfamiliar with the relevant laws and has never even practiced in a courtroom before.

* TokenGoodTeammate: Her sister was an AbusiveParent and RichBitch, her daughter is [[WomanChild an overgrown awkward teenager]], her niece and nephew may very well be [[TheSociopath sociopaths]], and her brother-in-law is Frank. While we don't see her do anything saintly, the fact that she DOESN'T act depraved makes her this for the entire Reynolds family.

* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: While he vastly prefers his grandson, when Dee comes to see him he gropes her and it makes her fear of old people worse, getting her to puke.

* AbusiveParents: While she's a genuinely nice and well-meaning lady and she does love Charlie without any doubt, her obscene over-protectiveness of her son, mixed with her own warped views of the world impacting his development, led Charlie to become the borderline feral man that he is today. If "The Nightman Cometh" is any indication, it's also implied that Charlie blames her for him being molested by Uncle Jack.

* UselessBystanderParent: It's suggested that Charlie's open disdain for her stems from him resenting her for doing nothing to stop him from getting molested by his uncle Jack as a child. In fact, she seemed to inadvertently ''encourage'' it to happen by regularly inviting Jack over to their house for things like sleepovers under the pretense of them being male bonding activities. Even as an adult, Charlie is still forced to interact with Jack on a semi-regular basis because Bonnie keeps finding ways to bring him back into his life, such as inviting him to an intervention when she thinks Charlie got abused by his gym teacher. It's heavily implied that the troll in Charlie's musical is her.

* BlackComedyRape: It's strongly implied that he molested Charlie or exposed himself to him or ''something'' that has caused Charlie to be extremely wary of him.

* CreepyUncle: Uncle Jack is a deeply unsettling man. He's always touching people, he's obsessed with hands (he feels his own hands are too small), and he is all but outright stated to be a pedophile interested in young boys and may have repeatedly molested Charlie in his childhood (something "The Nightman Cometh" especially strongly hints at). When Dee declares she's kidnapped some kids (by accident) he immediately leaps into action with solid creepy advice.

They do gross things (like Charlie) to get money from perverts (like Bonnie). They're casually bigoted (like [[RacistGrandma Bonnie]]) and don't really care about other people (like [[HeroicComedicSociopath Charlie]]). They're also short, which is a genetic trait nobody can run from. [[{{Metaphorgotten}} Especially because their legs are stubby.]]

* JerkassBall: He's notably more openly hostile toward his son (and more talkative in general) in "Mac Kills His Dad", and "Mac Finds His Pride", where he outright states that he doesn't love Mac in the former, and that the only value he sees in him is his ability to give him a grandson in the latter. This is in stark contrast to his previous appearances, where it is always made clear that, while cold and abrasive, he genuinely loves Mac.

* EvilSoundsRaspy: She's got a voice like industrial-grade abrasives from her decades of constant smoking.
