* NiceGuy: He was the most normal and well-adjusted out of the gang. Kind of makes you wonder why he was friends with them in high school.
* OnlySaneMan: For the short time he returns to the Gang. He's off-put by their strange habits and rituals which Schmitty has long grown out of, even telling them how weird everything they do is.
* TokenGoodTeammate: All too briefly, but Schmidty is friendly, personable, inclusive and doesn't mind when the gang tries to push him out of a moving car! (''Twice''!) Needless to say, he is one of few decent people in the history of the show.
** Though this is debatable, as he is also portrayed as having a bullying streak, constantly making passive-aggressive "jokes" at the gang's expense. Also is portrayed as predatory in The High School Reunion, where he is shown to regularly pick up women by turning up to parties late and taking advantage of drunk women.
