!!Kyoya Gaen
->Voiced by: Creator/SatoshiHino (JP), Ben Rose (EN)

The young head of the Gaen financial group and leader of Disaster. His buddy is Azi Dahaka of Darkness Dragon World. He used to play a Dragon World deck in the past. His current deck however is special. It uses the Flag Card "Dragon Ein", which allows him to use '''any''' card with with a Dragon attribute.
----
* AffablyEvil: He is never impolite, even when telling Nobari that he's no longer of use.
* BadassLongcoat: Wears one when the Disaster Force is activated.
* BigBad: As the leader of Disaster, he is this for the first season. He's also this for the third season as well.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: [[spoiler:What he sought to become in DDD. He achieved it briefly.]]
* EvilCannotComprehendGood:
** [[spoiler:His master plan to open a portal to Darkness Dragon World by combining the power of his and Gao's Disaster Forces fails because he doesn't realize that Future Force is a fundamentally different ability from Disaster Force; Gao's Future Force seals the portal instead of opening it.]]
** [[spoiler:Azi Dahaka points out that his unwillingness to divulge his entire plan to his buddy meant his aspirations, those involving buddyfighting and Godhood, meant they never fully had a chance of being completed.]]
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:The end result of his Project Triple D has him forcibly assimilate Azi Dahaka in order for Kyoya to become a deity.]]
* AGodIAm: [[spoiler:His plan during the third season is to become a deity. He eventually succeeds, at least until he's beaten by Gao again.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: After losing to Gao he accepts the world isn't ready to change and becomes friends with Gao. Subverted when Hundred reveals he didn't change at all.
* HellishPupils: His pupils are reptilian-looking slits. Bonus points for his eyes already being [[RedEyesTakeWarning red]].
* HijackedByGanon: [[spoiler: Tries to pull this near the end of Hundred by expoiting the Yamigedo crisis and come off of it as the hero. It backfires and causes Yamigedo to become even more powerful.]]
* HornedHairdo: Two of the spikes in his hair have red strikes and curve upward. They also grow much larger when he activates the Disaster Force.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: [[spoiler: Thought Kyoya would be done for once the twenty Life he has because of Zwei's effect are depleted ? Nope, here comes Dragon Drei, giving him an additional 5 Life to continue the fight.]]
* KarmaHoudini: He doesn't suffer any repercussions for his actions during the first and second season despite his plans being foiled. [[spoiler:He's finally arrested in DDD, where he made it clear on live television his plans to rule the world as a god.]]
* MultiColoredHair: His is predominantly white with a few red highlights.
* NeverRecycleYourSchemes: [[spoiler:Subverted. Near the end of Hundred he's trying to pull off coming off as the Hero of the crisis, but this time he isn't the one who's causing it in the first place.]]
* NoSell: Anticipated that [[spoiler: Tasuku was just pretending to be on his side, and modified Tasuku's Dark Core Deck Case so that its Disaster Force would be ineffective on Darkness Dragon World monsters.]]
* OhCrap: When Drum gets a new form through the Future Force. Granted, that ''is'' the proper response to [[DeusExMachina that sort of thing]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has them by default, but they gain slit pupils with the Disaster Force.
* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: Does this fairly blatantly during the Gaen Cup. Namely, he allows the Konmae Brothers to compete despite the tournament supposedly being for children, handwaving it with the excuse that they might have reformed and because he said so. He also allowed [[spoiler:Tasuku]] to compete as the Purgatory Knight despite his true identity being unknown at the time.
* StoryBreakerPower: [[spoiler: He has the Dragon Ein Flag card, which allows him to use any card with a Dragon Atribute, and start the fight with 12 Life Points, though in exchange his starting hand is four. He also has the "Dragon Throne" set spell, which not only prevents any of his Item and Spell cards including Dragon Throne itself from being destroyed, nullified, or returned to his hand, [[UpToEleven it allows him to increase his max monster size by 4 and summon Size 4 Monsters!]].]]
** [[spoiler: Does it again with the Dragon Zwei Flag card. This time, it allow him to use any Dragon Attribute Monster instead which means the Dragon Throne spell does not come into effect and he still starts off with 4 cards. The Game Breaking part comes with his starting life which is 20.]]
** [[spoiler: And should that massive amount of Life be depleted, Kyoya can use another Flag card, Dragon Drei, to give himself an additional 5 life at the cost of all the cards on his field. This may not sound too bad, except that by having this flag lets him transform into Demonic Dragon Deity of the Black Sun, Gaen, a size 10 monster with 15000 Power, 12000 Defense, a critical of 5 that cannot be destroyed, returned to the hand or have its abilities nullified. On top of that it also prevents the opponent from drawing during their next turn after this card is transformed into, destroys any monster they have when it attacks and allows Kyoya to discard any two Size 3 monsters he has in hand to gain another 5 Life.]]
* TemptingFate: When his victory is all but assured, he taunts Gao by saying even he can't control the future. Immediately afterward Gao's future self gives Gao the card he needs to win the battle through the power of the Future Force.
* TheBusCameBack: Though only in a brief cameo, Kyoya is shown to be watching Gao's match in episode 26, stating that just as he was supposed to lose to Kyoya but won, he would do so in his fight with Ikazuchi. [[spoiler: As Kyoya predicts, he does.]]
* ThisCannotBe: He's shocked when [[spoiler:Tasuku overcomes the Dark Core he gave to him.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Sort of. His plans were based on Gao's potential of using the Future Force which he believed was the same as his Disaster Force, when he discovers that the portal is closing he finally loses his calm composure.]]
* VillainousFriendship: Claims that the other members of Disaster are the closest he has to friends, with Rouga being such for the longest. That said, he sees them more as means to an end than anything else. [[spoiler:For all his manipulations of Rouga, the two seem to finally be on good terms as of the end of ''Triple D''.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: He has a good reputation as the head of the Gaen financial group and makes use of it during the Gaen Cup to make the public accept the Dark Core and Disaster Force. It helps that he's charismatic enough to defuse tensions with the audience, and specifically made an effort to make sure the fights were entertaining for the audience. This is why he's remained a KarmaHoudini for so long.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: After Terumi loses her fight against Tetsuya, he has Sofia takes her buddy and memories away.
** Does nothing to help Sueroku and Seiichi when the Buddy Police try to regain control, citing he doesn't need the Buddy Police anymore now that [[spoiler:Tatsuku has joined Disaster]].
** [[spoiler: Episode 59 has him doing this to Rouga of all people. A flashback reveals Kyoya made a mistake during a Buddyfight, calling Phalanx Dragon when he didn't have enough gauge to pay it's cost, but Rouga stayed silent. Turns out it was intentional, as he wanted to test him. Now that he's calling him out on his master plan, Kyoya states that Rouga is no longer the friend he knew and cuts all ties with him, raising heavy implications that he only used Rouga because he wanted someone who would blindly follow orders without question.]]

!!Rouga Aragami (Wolf)
->Voiced by: Minoru Hirota (JP), Daegan Mann (EN)

An 8th-grader at Aibo Academy who is ranked first in his grade who believes that victory is the only thing that matters. He works alongside the student council president for a monster called Azi Dahaka and its mysterious master.

He uses a Danger World deck, focusing on Armorknights. His buddies are Armorknight Eagle and Armorknight Cerberus, who later evolved to Armorknight, Cerberus "A". In ''Buddyfight Hundred'', he is searching for the eighth Omni Lord and once the latter is awakened, includes him in his deck. In ''Buddyfight DDD'', he enters the WBC knowing the national round is one an island Kyoya owned and told him was important. He uses a Tyrant deck now.
----
* BeneathTheMask : [[spoiler: His reason for joining Disaster and becoming a criminal fighter, it's all for his friend, Kyoya.]]
* BladeOnAStick: His core gadget is one and he has a few in his deck as item cards. His Drill Bunker Impact Card makes these deadly effective.
* TheBusCameBack: Rouga does this at least once per season.
** First, at the end of episode 24 of the first season.
** And again in ''Hundred'' when Tasuku investigates the Buddyfight Club, finally staying around after adding Grangadez to his deck.
** And during ''DDD'' at the start of the WBC Japan tournament.
* ChildhoodFriends: [[spoiler: With Kyoya who he thinks of as a brother.]]
* CurbstompBattle: Deals one to Tetsuya. Gao quickly pays him back with a OneTurnKill.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He responds with disgust when [[spoiler: Raremaro sneaks a hate card in Kemura's deck to specifically target Genma, saying that it was "a cheap way to win".]]
** He even prefers to utterly crush his opponent as opposed to doing underhanded tactics, as well as resorting to solid strategy if needed.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice by far, is one of the deepest voice among Buddyfight's human characters, only outdone by members of [[HotBlooded the Seifukai]].
* ForcedIntoEvil: [[spoiler: In DDD, he attempts to have Kyoya abandon his plans but is forced into a Buddyfight with the condition that Rouga will become Kyoya's [[TermsOfEndangerment Friend]] if Rouga loses. He is then [[CurbstompBattle Curbstomped]] by Kyoya [[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome offscreen]]. Official material shows that Rouga has now returned to using his [[RedBaron Wolf]] mask.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: [[spoiler: During episode 37, it is shown Rouga is disturbed at the fact that Kyoya wants Gao to join Disaster. And then episode 43, he helps Gao by telling him Kiri's location.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: After Kyoya throws him away. It sticks during ''Hundred'' especially as one of the Omni Lord users. [[spoiler: He is however ForcedIntoEvil in DDD by Kyoya.]]
* HotBlooded
* PaperThinDisguise: As Wolf. Tasuku easily see through it; the only reason the Buddy Police can't arrest him is a lack of evidence and the fact that his registered Buddy is different.
* PutOnABus: After losing to Gao in episode 6, he dropped out of Aibo Academy and hasn't made any appearence ever since.
* SecondPlaceIsForLosers: His attitude to Buddyfighting, which isn't as expressed as often nowadays.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Kyoya, who is more than willing to use and manipulate Rouga's feelings. Rouga is surprisingly forgiving of this.

!!Magoroku Shido
-> Voiced by: Kenta Zaima (JP), Cole Hanson (EN)

The president of Aibo Academy's Middle School Division student council. He works alongside Rouga and Sofia for Azi Dahaka. In ''Buddyfight 100'', he and Sofia are now working for Ikazuchi, with Shido taking on the identity of Death Shido.

He uses a Danger World deck and an Ancient World deck but his true deck is a Darkness Dragon World one focusing on the Death monsters and their Shadow Dive ability. His Buddies are Bluechase Dragon, Garg (Danger) and Silver Dragon, Adelaide (Ancient), but his real Buddy is Death Ruler, Gallows (Darkness Dragon). In ''Hundred'', he also uses several different deck when partnered with one of the Hundred Demons under the guise of Death Shido, before going back to His Darkness Dragon World deck that mixes Death and Deep monsters.
----
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: It's gone to his head. He uses his powers to order a check of the Seifukai's deck so that he has the advantage during the ABC Cup.
* ButtMonkey: His schemes usually end in failure, he lost all but two of his fights, and his own buddy monster doesn't respect him.
* CheatersNeverProsper: He uses various unfair methods in order to ensure that he (and by extension the middle school) will be the winner of the ABC Cup. It doesn't work.
** His father tries to cancel his fight with Zanya during the Gaen Cup right as the latter is about to finish Magoroku off. Apparently Kyoya didn't agree with the decision as Zanya's finisher hits both Magoroku and his old man.
* ChildProdigy: Claims to be one... but he really isn't.
* DemotedToExtra: In ''DDD''.
* DirtyCoward: So very much.
* EpicFail: His match against Zanya in the Gaen Cup. It starts with him promising a one-turn victory, but one GilliganCut later, Zanya is about to finish ''him'' off. Paruko even calls it an epic fail.
* ExtremeDoormat: In ''Hundred'', where he is constantly pushed around by Sofia, the Hundred Demons and even Davide.
* HeroKiller: Manages to defeat Genma with his true deck, although it should be noted that his playstyle specifically counters Genma's and that his opponent had never heard of the world Shido was using before.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Noboru beats him with the very card Shido gave him as a bribe last year.
* HumiliationConga: First he loses to Noboru (using the card Shido gave him last year), then all the middle school representatives are beaten by the elementary school, then Genma escapes his prison and drags him out in front of the school to be punished, and he finally gets [[CurbstompBattle curbstomped]] by Genma.
** His Buddyfight against Captain Answer (actually Genma in disguise) is one that sees every one of his "strategies" fail, him getting bitch-slapped twice by Genma and blasted off a building by Sofia, only to be saved by Genma before he hits the ground, all of which happened on his ''birthday''.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Genma declares in his in TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to Shido, in that he wants power and friends. The issue Genma had is that he doesn't care about the students, and only became council president for these reasons.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: His hair grows longer when he activates the Disaster Force.
* OhCrap: Near constantly in ''Hundred''.
* SmugSnake: Thinks very highly of himself and looks down on everyone. His track record quickly shows that he has little ability to actually back up his claims.
* SpoiledBrat: It's obvious that his father hasn't been a good influence on him. He expects to win every time, has a very over-inflated opinion of himself and looks down on those around him, much like his old man.
* StudentCouncilPresident: Of Aibo Academy's middle school division.
* VerbalTic: In the japanese version, he always ends his phrases with desu-shi.
* VillainDecay: Went from a critical threat in the ABC Cup to the weakest villain in the show.
** It's ZigZagged with him though. On one hand, see HeroKiller above, when he fights using his own deck and has his head on straight, [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass he's very scarily competent]] due to the deck's control aspects. Another good example [[spoiler: is his fight with Gratos, where he manages to utterly play him using cards that switch Gratos' positions around along with Shadow Dive, before finishing him by forcing him to exhaust his soul, before using his new Impact card that can revive units.]]

!!Sofia Sakharov
->Voiced by: Creator/MamikoNoto (JP), Nikkita Bradette (EN, season 1), Ali [=DeRegt=] (EN, season 2)

A member of Aibo Academy's Middle School Division student council. Lke Shido, she works for Azi Dahaka and his master. In ''Buddyfight Hundred'', she and Shido are shown to be working for Ikazuchi.

Her buddy is Star Celestial, Astraios and she uses a Legend World deck revolving around the Star attribute. In the second season, she also used different deck when partnering with some of the Hundred Demons under the guise of Death Shido. [[spoiler: She later obtains a Star Dragon World deck from Kyoya and gets the Inverse Sixth Omni Storm Lord, Catastrophe Cord to use as her buddy.]]
----
* ChekhovsGunman: Originally starts off as Shido's quiet sidekick. Come Shido's losses in the ABC Cup, she becomes more active, and eventually ditches Shido.
* TheCorrupter: She tempts Genma, Kiri, Shosetsu, and Gao with a Dark Core deck case and puts Doai into a berserk rage with one.
* TheDragon: She serves as one to Kyoya. Though she later works for Ikazuchi in ''Hundred'' she's revealed to still be working for Kyoya.
* EvilCounterpart: To Tasuku. Her use of the Disaster Force opposes Tasuku's Future Force. Hammered home in ''Hundred'' where she gets [[spoiler:Catastrophe Cord, Variable Cord's evil clone]].
* HyperCompetentSidekick: She's this to [[SmugSnake Shido]]. Until she leaves the student council.
** She becomes this again when the two start working for Ikazuchi.
* KarmaHoudini: Unlike Rouga, she doesn't even bother with a PaperThinDisguise, yet she suffers no repercussions for her actions.
* KickTheDog: She shows no remorse for (and even relishes in) teleporting Gao and Drum into the air, where they could fall to their deaths. She also has no qualms taking Terumi's Buddy away right after they started bonding.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: She has the ability to erase memories using Disaster Force.
* PsychoticSmirk: The rare occasions that she does show emotion are usually her doing this.
* StarPower: Her deck is comprised of cards with the Star attribute.
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: In a passive way. Points out that as long as Death Shidou is the fighter, they'll never win, motivating Izkauchi to get off his ass
* TheStoic: She rarely shows emotions.
** NotSoStoic: Asmodai is able to push her buttons enough to make her absolutely flip.
* VerbalTic: Her frequent use of "Da" becomes this in episode 41 of ''Hundred'' [[spoiler: while she's under the control of Yamigedo]].
* VillainOverride: [[spoiler: In episode 41 of ''Hundred'', Yamigedo takes control of her to force her to fight Tasuku.]]
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: One of the three members of Disaster with white hair and one of its most dangerous members after Kyoya.

!!Elf Kabala
One of the members of Disaster, Kyoya's group. He is a teacher at Aibo Academy.
----
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's goofy and dramatic, but he's also one of the top members of the group.
** AgentPeacock: He's a competent Buddyfighter as well.
* EvilGenius: He does most of the work on the dark core gadgets.
* PutOnABus: His fate after Sofia rescued him was left unknown at the end of season 1. [[TheBusCameBack He later shows up]] to help with the particle accelerator in ''Hundred''.
* SomethingAboutARose: He carries a Rose with him and has two others in his hair.

!!Terumi Kuchinawa
->Voiced by: Mai Todo (JP), Angie Beers (EN)

One of the members of Disaster, Kyoya's group. She also attends Aibo Academy and is the new Student Council vice-president. She uses a Legend World deck with cards based on Greek Mythology, including her buddy Gorgon Three Sisters, Medusa.
----
* AmnesiacLover: Has no memories of Tetsuya following her memory wipe, although she does decide to watch his match against Sofia.
* Myth/ClassicalMythology: Her deck contains cards named after characters from greek myths.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: According to her backstory, this was what happened when she joined Disaster.
* KnownOnlyByTheirNickname: "Terumi Kuchinawa" is actually a name Kyoya came up with, because her real name wasn't impressive or flashy.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Has her memories of her time with Disaster erased by Sofia after she loses to Tetsuya.
* LossOfIdentity: When her memories get erased by Sophia.
* LuminescentBlush: Blushes after looking at Kyoya.
** SmittenTeenageGirl: Has a crush on Kyoya.
* SeriousBusiness: How she treats Buddyfight. This is because Buddyfight gave her an identity; she feels that she would have nothing if she wasn't good at this game. Her biggest piece of character development comes from Tetsuya and Asmodai teaching her that Buddyfight should be fun, and that he doesn't have nothing when she has friends.
** Both of those traits are lost when she loses her memory.
* ShipTease: With Tetsuya.
* [[StarCrossedLovers Star-Crossed Friends]]: With Tetsuya.

!!Davide Yamazaki
->Voiced by: Akio Suyama (EN), Chris Cook (EN)

One of the members of Disaster, Kyoya's group. He uses a Darkness Dragon World Deck, focusing on Black Dragons monsters such as his buddy Death Dragon, Deathgaze Dragon.
----
* CheatersNeverProsper: He still couldn't defeat Gao despite cheating.
* CombatPragmatist: Even when he's not cheating, his deck centers around countering strategies by directly destroying creatures, items and even set spells.
* TheCorrupter: He's the one who gives Kiri his Dark Core deck case and gets him to accept its power.
* EvilCounterpart: To Rouga as of ''Hundred'' due to them both using Danger World decks at the time. [[spoiler:He also gets Grangadez's evil clone Devilgadez.]]
* HeroKiller: Easily defeats Kazane, not helping in universe that Darkness Dragon World was just recently discovered. It wasn't until episode 40 that cards from the world start appearing, so nobody knew what it was capable of, and there's the fact he cheated during the fight.
* JerkAss: He is rude and insulting to everyone. Even deliberately tripping the Castle Card Shop owner and then mockingly apologizes. He even mocks Gao and his deceased brother! Apparently he does this to all his opponents so he can distract them while he cheats. Tasuku even says someone like him has no business being a Buddyfighter. Also is willing to kill as mentioned below.
* JerkAssHasAPoint: Despite being a cheater as well as an all-around unpleasant person, he does have a point when he says that Gao is the reason that Kiri turned evil.
** When Tasuku calls him out about destroying his own monsters, he retorts that it's not so different from [[spoiler: Tasuku turning Jack into a mindless weapon]].
* MulticoloredHair: His is blond and black.
* ThePowerOfCreation: Has enough control over the Disaster Force to make his cards' effects real.
* SoreLoser: After Gao defeats him, instead of keeping his word and telling him what he knows about what happened to Kiri, he instead activates Disaster Force and '''tries to kill Gao!''' [[spoiler: He would have succeeded if Gao didn't suddenly gain access to Future Force]].
* TheBusCameBack: He returns in episode 31 of ''Hundred'' as an EvilCounterpart to Rouga.
* TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty: He cheats by Buddy Calling his Buddy Monster from a card he hid in his back pocket in his match with Kazane. Does it again with a different card in his fight with Gao. Though everyone sees it, he just doesn't care if they do.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: He is not above sacrificing his own monsters if it means, he'll win the fight. His impact card even requires him to do so in order to be cast.

!!Gremlin/[[spoiler:Retsu Omori]]
->Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda (JP), Joel Crichton (EN)

One of the members of Disaster, Kyoya's group, who serves as their deckbuilder. He uses a Darkness Dragon World deck with a focus on cards with the Deep attribute such as his buddy Black Dragon of Demise, Death Tallica.
----
* BoringButPractical: It's been called out as this InUniverse, to everyone's frustration. Ultimately how his Deep Deck and Buddy Death Tallica are, being a slow GradualGrinder using Tallica's special Soulguard [[note]]He puts all Deep attribute cards in the drop zone into his Soul, and can negate one attack by removing three cards in his soul[[/note]] and Double Attack.
* {{Deadpan Snarker}}
* EvilCounterpart: As Disaster's deck builder, he is this to Baku. [[spoiler: They are also cousins.]] Also, while Baku builds decks to suit the Buddyfighter, Gremlin wants Fighters to play suited to the decks he builds.
* EvilRedhead: He has red hair and is one of the antagonists.
* {{Mister Exposition}}
* {{Pride}}: The part of his personality that his dark core amplifies is the pride he takes in his work as a deck builder. As a result, he is arrogant and condescending toward regular Buddyfighters.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: 'Gremlin'. Though his real name is [[spoiler:Retsu]].
* StopHavingFunGuy: He gets really prissy when Buddyfighters don't play their decks like he wants them to.

!Monsters

!!Demonic Demise Dragon, Azi Dahaka/Great Demonic Dragon of Demise, Azi Dahaka/[[spoiler:Black Sky Sun Dragon, Azi Dahaka Daeva]]
->Voiced by: Kinryuu Arimoto (JP), Tony Valdez (EN)

Kyoya Gaen's Buddy. A demonic dragon from Darkness Dragon World who is working with Kyoya to usher in a new world. He is unique among monsters in that he is size 4.

In ''Triple D'', he is shown to have a connection to Bal. [[spoiler:This is due to the fact that he fought Balle Soleil on Earth centuries ago and considers his arch enemy]]. After being defeated by Gao and Bal, Kyoya upgrades him to Great Demonic Dragon of Demise, Azi Dahaka. [[spoiler:After training during the battles of the World Buddy Cup and against Gaito and Abygale, he becomes Black Sky Sun Dragon, Azi Dahaka Daeva.]]
