* GoodBadBugs: Silence/Mute is a massive AchillesHeel for most spellcaster jobs, if not an outright death sentence. But in this game, Blue Magic can be used while affected by it with absolutely no issue.

* MagikarpPower: Although Blue Mage is a starting class, it becomes most potent by the end of the game once the player can obtain most or all of its 30 available spells. It can use offensive magic, attack elemental weaknesses inacessible by any other mage, and give powerful buffs to the party.

* GoodBadBugs: In the SNES version, equipping Berserker with a Thornlet actually causes their Magic stat to drop to negatives and wrap around to the highest Magic value in the game, which makes the Rune Axe monstrously powerful. Fixed in later versions.

* StatsDissonance: That huge Magic Power the class gets? It's entirely useless for Time Mages by themselves. The hit chance for status Time Magic works off ''level'', the rest of Time Magic is supportive in nature, and Comet/Meteor are randomized damage attacks that only take the target's Magic Defense into account for damage calculation.

* GoodBadBugs:
** The Drain Kiss/Succubus Kiss Mix allows the Chemist to drain HP from an enemy, by consuming one Maiden's Kiss and a Turtle Shell. However, thanks a programming quirk, the Mix has a spell power of ''255'', which is 1 point higher than ''Flare'', at a point where most spells barely break 50. Some players are known to cheese most of the game by buying 99 Maiden Kisses and farming 99 Turtle Shells, which trivializes every random encounter and ''a lot'' of the boss battles. This wasn't fixed on any subsequent release.
** Kiss of Blessing (Maiden's Kiss + Holy Water) bestows the Haste, Image and Berserk statuses to the target. However, as with most Mixes, it ignores enemy immunities, which means that using it against Exdeath on the final battle prevents him from performing the script that transforms him into Neo Exdeath, which ends the game right there. This one was fixed for the GBA and any subsequent versions.

* StatusEffects: Some Dark Matter mixes - and others, like Dark Sigh and Lamia Kiss - that include healing items all have the opposite effect - meaning this job can cast unblockable Toad, Darkness, Confusion and Poison.
