* LoveRuinsTheRealm: She fell in love with Duke Leto and instead of following the Sisterhood's instructions to produce a daughter with him, she fulfills his wish of having a son. This ruins the Bene Gesserit's Kwisatza Haderach plan which led to Paul's Jihan and Leto II's tynanical reign as God Emperor despite Leto II's ZeroApprovalGambit to ensure humanity's survival. After Leto II's demise centuries later, the Bene Gesserit regarded Jessica's love for Duke Leto as her biggest mistake which they call "Jessica's Crime", teaching the Sisterhood to put restraint on their emotions.

* SelfSacrificeScheme: He made Siona Atreides [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou the only one who would eventually destroy him]], all thanks to his breeding program where she possesses the "no-gene" which prevents him from using his prescience on her.

* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Because she inherits all the Genetic Memories of her ancestors while she was in her mother's womb, Alia behaves more like an adult than a child which made many people, including her mother, afraid of her.

** Causing the above, Hawat values logic over emotions and is prone to underestimate their value or effects. Jessica points this out when she points out discipline lapses of Duncan and the Atreides soldiers as the results of their feelings of uncertainty in a foreign place, which makes Hawat only grumble under her observation. He similarly cannot understand that Jessica loves Leto and her son too much to betray either because logic dictates she's the most likely to be a traitor due to her Bene Gesserit affiliation and her unknown lineage.

Moved since we had two tropes basically saying the same thing.

* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: InUniverse, a poor man who was forced to betray those he loved and regretted it all the way, while doing everything in his power to protect them from his own betrayal, is vilified as a Judas figure with songs sung lamenting his death wasn't ''worse''. [[note]] ''Of course'', one must forget about the fact his betrayal nearly wiped out the Atreides house, got a dozen hundred soldiers killed, and he knew [[AllForNothing his wife was most probably dead anyway]] for this to truly be a thing.[[/note]]

* TragicVillain: Being blackmailed into betraying the man you deeply respect and then being unfairly depicted as the Judas Iscariot equivalent of the new religion certainly qualifies.

* ModernMayincatecEmpire: Possibly have connections with this. They call their breeding tanks "axlotl", one letter away from the Mexican salamander called axolotl, and "tleilaxu" itself has a definitely Náhuatl sound too, not to mention their whole schtick being genetic manipulation might be a big reference to ''mestizaje'' and all the genetic interbreeding in the Spanish Mexico.

The KH was planned to arrive a generation after Irulan, so I don't think Irulan was being groomed to marry him. It's more likely that she was intended as a BG plant within the royal family for when he did arrive. I also removed the Age Lift entry from Wensicia, since it's speculation (and actors' ages don't always match). Both book and show treat Irulan as the oldest, and in Children Jessica says she looks exactly the same as she did in Dune. So presumably Irulan just aged way better

* FallenPrincess: She's beautiful, dutiful, intelligent and talented. She was being groomed to be the wife of the Bene Gesserit Totality, but when she finally achieves that [[spoiler:Paul relegates her to a wife in name only role and almost completely ignores her whenever possible.]] Further, any power she has is token and only afforded to her because it would be politically impossible to strip her of ''all'' power.

After Shaddam's defeat by Muad'Dib and the Fremen, she followed her family into exile on Salusa Secundus.
* AgeLift: Evidently in the 2003 miniseries due to the casting of Susan Sarandon who was significantly older than Irulan's actress, Julie Cox. This creates an AdaptationInducedPlotHole. Irulan, in the book, was the eldest Corrino daughter, hence being the one to marry Paul. However, in the miniseries, if Wensicia is older than Irulan, then she should have been the one to marry Paul.
