* KickTheSonOfABitch: He kills Flazzard after failing to defeat Dai, even after he gave the latter a power-boost from his Shadow Armour to aid him in a callous manner. While the context makes it pitiful to the heroes for his death, Flazzard was still a psychotic, mass-murderer and an arrogant GlorySeeker who [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown kicks people while they're down]], so he had his death coming.

Borahorn is the ego, being more cautious and respectful, but no less cruel when facing an enemy of Baran. And Larhart is the superego, being the most moral and honourable of them, disliking needless violence and [[spoiler: the only one to make a HeelFaceTurn.]]

* DefiantToTheEnd: To his credit, after being completely surpassed by Dai, he decides to attempt one last desperate charge to defeat him, even ignoring direct orders from Vearn.
* {{Depower}}: After being blasted off by Dai's Draura, he loses the power he got from Vearn and is reduced to his true form, a small tambourine-like monster.

Added DiffLines:

Added DiffLines:

* MultiArmedAndDangerous: He has four arms, each one carrying a baton. This way he can increase the power of his gravitational waves and crush the enemy more easily.

Added DiffLines:

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After being defeated by Dai and reduced to his weak original form, he wisely decides to retreat rather than facing the Dragon Knight again.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's only a low ranking mook in the grand scheme of things, however, by attacking Dai he [[spoiler:forces him to unleash the second Dragon Knight emblem he inherited from his father, making him even more powerful for his fight against Vearn.]]
* UncertainDoom: He's last seen fleeing from Dai and Leona after being defeated by the former and losing the power Vearn gave him. He never appears afterwards, so it's unknown if he escaped successfully or fell with the palace.

The Drummer of Vearn's Palace. He's a monster with a drum for a stomach powered up by Vearn in order to check the Magic Furnace that allows the palace to move. Despite his silly appearance and behavior, he's a power hungry individual who doesn't thinks twice in taking advantage of situations that will make Vearn favor him more.
----
* FatBastard: He's a huge, obese troll-like monster who has no qualms killing others to obtain praise from his boss. Subverted by his true form, however, who is much smaller.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He has no problem making small talk with Dai and even tries to help him free Leona from the Magic Furnace. However, once he seizes the chance to attain glory and gain Vearn's favor he quickly turns against the boy.
* GravityIsPurple: His gravity attacks are depicted in the anime with a purplish aura.
* GravityMaster: Vearn gave him power over gravity so he could keep the Magic Furnace functional. All he has to do is slap his belly-drum in order to make it work and crush enemies with the gravitational pressure generated. His magic proves strong enough to overwhelm Dai, [[spoiler:but once he awakens his second Dragon Knight emblem he's easily surpassed.]]
* OpportunisticBastard: His main trait. When he sees Dai is defenseless trying to free Leona and Gome from the Magic Furnace he quickly attacks him by surprise intending to get a reward from Vearn.

Unlike Hym and Sigma, she's willing to disobey the will of her master if that can save his life and is neither honorable or merciful, [[spoiler:even willing to attempt a bargain with Vearn (the person who literally fated Hadlar to certain death) to save Hadlar by killing all of Avan's disciples).]]

He may hate humans for killing Soala and wiped Dai's memories clean during their first battle, but he would not forgive those who pick on the weak, as Fenbren finds out the hard way.way.
** His opinion on Hadler is overall really poor, but he's willing the follow his orders (even when he disagrees with them) despite being stronger than him as Hadler's position in the Dark Army ranks above his one, showing that he respects the chain of command. It's only when he discovers [[spoiler:Hadler hid information about Dai being a Dragon Knight (and thus his son) that Baran finally gets tired of Hadler's tricks and disobeys him.]]
** Despite being very ruthless and wishing the destruction of humanity, [[spoiler:he's horrified at the idea of Vearn destroying the surface world in its entirety and turning it into a hellish place like the Underworld. This is what makes him go from a neutral position to take action against the Dark King himself.]]

Added DiffLines:

* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice is appropriately deep and commanding as one would expect from a powerful general of an evil army.

Added DiffLines:

* NeutralNoLonger: Downplayed. He starts as a very prominent antagonist, [[spoiler:but after his final fight with Dai, he decides to abandon the Dark Army and remains in a secluded cave focused in recovering his power and repair his sword for a last battle against his son, with the intention to meet his end at his hands. However, once Killvearn attempts to kill him and reveals Vearn's true goal of destroying the surface of the world, Baran decides that he will not let the Dark King have his way and proceeds to directly confront him.]]

Added DiffLines:

* TheBrute: Among the three Dragon Riders, he's the biggest, bulkiest and the one who uses pure power to destroy his opponents compared to the finesse of Galdandy and Larhart in the rapier and the spear respectively.

Added DiffLines:

* DumbMuscle: Downplayed. His fighting style is pretty straightforward and brutish, but he's smart enough to take hostages to gain an advantage in a dire situation.
* FlatCharacter: While Larhart is Baran's most loyal and personal subordinate, has his past revealed and later [[spoiler:appears in the final arc to aid the forces of the good in their final fight against Vearn]] and Galdandy, while not exactly the most fleshed out antagonist in the series, at least had a moment mourning his dragon partner that humanizes him a little a bit, Borahorn receives the bare minimum of stuff to make him a functional character, with his past unrevealed and having zero stand-out moments to expand on his personality other than being a big, brutish antagonist.
* MadeOfIron: To his credit, he's not only able to take a direct Bloody Scryde to the chest and survive, but also being tough enough to stand on his feet, take a hostage and still use his weapon to kill someone.

Added DiffLines:

* InformedAbility: The three of them are said to be as strong as the generals from the Dark Army and equals to Baran himself, who's considered the strongest general of the entire army. However, while Larhart proves to be a genuine threat, both Borahorn and Galdandy are easily dominated by Hyunckel (a former general of the Dark Army) without any problem, with their only display of superiority being against [[SquishyWizard Popp]], who also gets to kill Galdandy of a single attack after having almost all of his magic power drain off by his feathers no less, putting that claim to doubt.

Added DiffLines:

* AssholeVictim: While his death is pretty gruesome, having one of his wings cut and then receiving a point-blank Boom to the face that kills him instantly, considering he was a bastard with zero regard for human lives and a brutal sadist, he definitely earned that ending.

Added DiffLines:

* EvilIsHammy: By far the hammiest out of the three Dragon Riders and the one who enjoys being more openly evil.

Added DiffLines:

* GlassCannon: He's skilled with the rapier, easily dominating Popp in a fight, but his endurance is way weaker, as Popp manages to kill him with a single Boom spell concentrating all his magical power left after Galdandy's white feathers almost drained it completely.

Added DiffLines:

* RevengeBeforeReason: After Popp kills his beloved dragon partner Ruud, Galdandy makes his main goal to torture and torment the young mage as much as he can as revenge for his fallen partner instead of finishing him off as soon as possible. This ends up making Hyunckel arrive in time to save Popp, who would kill Galdandy moments later.

Added DiffLines:

* UndignifiedDeath: He's exploded to death by Popp, leaving his corpses with blank eyes and his tongue sticking out almost comically.
