* CaptureAndReplicate: Crypto's Holobob freezes a victim and invisible while Crypto assumes the identity of the target while they're incapacitated. Should Crypto discard his disguise or blow his cover, the victim is released.

* EvilCounterpart: Amazingly, they manage to be this for the Furon invasion, going hand-in-hand with Cryptosporidium getting some CharacterDevelopment and learning to appreciate living on Earth. Unlike the Furons, who are darkly comical and merely want to ''enslave'' humanity, the Blisk are distinctly inhuman and serious foes who want to completely wipe out all terrestrial life so they can terraform the planet to their liking.

* GreaterScopeVillain: Their resistance to radiation prompted the Furons to develop ''extremely'' powerful nuclear-based weapons to wipe all traces of them from Mars; that same nuclear proliferation, it was later discovered, was what caused the Furon race to go sterile.
* KnightOfCerebus: Unlike the LaughablyEvil human antagonists, the Blisk are largely played straight and treated as deadly enemies. And they aren't simply intending to conquer Earth, they want to destroy all life on it.

While the two factions will attack Crypto, they only receive importance in Takoshima's Odd Job missions.

* HorrorHippie: Downplayed, he wants to set off a righteous rebellion against the US government but he is an unwitting pawn of the KGB and had no intention of destroying America.

* AdaptationBadass: In "Reprobed", his boss fight leans more into the psychedelic aspects of the fight as Crypto has to pursue Bongwater across his hallucinations and fight clones of him. A far cry from the original game where Coyote Bongwater is fought like any other NPC except his gun just makes a purple filter on the screen.

* MoreDakka: His holographic projection unit is outfitted with rapid-firing laser weapons that vaporize human enemies and detonate vehicles with ease. Upgrading the Gastro weapon lets him fire faster, harder, and add a potent charged shot for even MORE damage.

** ItsAllAboutMe: What it eventually devolves into by the time the Cult hits Takoshima, since he constantly slips his tongue and refers to ''his'' "magnificence" being threatened rather than Arkvoodle's. Even in his boss fight, after Crypto keeps killing him repeatedly, the Furon god himself decides Shama pushed his luck too far and lets Crypto finally kill him for good.

* GetBackHereBoss: It was bad enough in the original that Shama's respawning would cause him to dart around the hill near Takoshima City where the main cult tents were located, but ''Reprobed'' upgrades his teleportation to cover ''the entire cult area around the Zen Temple'', meaning Crypto will be chasing him all over the place to take out all of his lives.

* SecretPolice: The infamous Russian task force created by the USSR for international affairs. Naturally, the game milks this for all its worth and exaggerates their dictatorship over the Soviet Union by portraying them as single-minded villains bent on world domination and their precious "revolution". The trope gets slightly downplayed in Tunguska itself, however, as the KGB becomes the site's "cop" equivalent and show up at low alert levels.

* AdaptationalSuperpowerChange: In ''Reprobed'', Kojira can now summon Blisk spores to infect the soldiers fighting her and distract Crypto.

* AttackItsWeakPoint: Pox notes that her underbelly is significantly less armored than her back, eventually suggesting that Crypto fight the monster on foot.

* TheDreaded: Despite winning the Martian War against them, the Furons are terrified of these things, [[OhCrap with Pox freaking out]] when he learns they are still alive.

* KungFuProofMook: Because they're resistant to radiation and most Furon weaponry runs on some form of nuclear power, the Blisk are impervious to the majority of Crypto's weapons; only the Zap-O-Matic can damage them without a specific anti-Blisk upgrade. They're also immune to hypnosis and psychokinesis.

* ScaryDogmaticAliens: Subverted. They may have [[spoiler:seized power by overthrowing the Czar and creating a centrally-planned Communist government in his place]], but this appears to have been a ruse to [[spoiler:industrialize Russia so that it could be capable of atomic proliferation and start a nuclear war]]; their actual social structure is more of an insectoid hive, with [[spoiler:the Blisk known as Milenkov]] as their king figure.

* AchillesHeel: They can die to anything (although they're fairly resistant to most weapons), but the Anal Probe will immediately cleanse the infected human hosts and remove the spore cloud, causing it to be unable to infect that person and seek another host, leaving it open to be destroyed.

** A minor example, but Milenkov is the only Russian character in the game to avoid the same stereotypical draw and {{Malaproper}} that the other Russian characters utilize (ex: "What ''is being'' fridge?"), even refraining from using too many Russian terms in favor of a ''[[NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent very]]'' superficial accent. Compare this to Natalya, who uses a lot more terminology in her native tongue without falling into the same stereotypical inflections.

* MsFanservice: Natalya is a bombshell of a woman who wears tight suits with very little imagination and one of them showing off her impressive cleavage. This is carried over into the remake with the new graphical quality greatly improving her SpyCatsuit. The ending of the remake features her and Crypto taking a vacation to Takoshima where she has a SexySurfacingShot from the surf whilst wearing an orange bikini, [[Film/DrNo Honey Rider]] style.
