The princess of the Adrestian Empire, future Emperor and the house leader of the Black Eagles. A strong-willed and dignified young lady who has ambitions for the Empire and Fodlan, she's impressed by Goetia's vast knowledge and magical abilities and hopes to recruit him into the Adrestian Empire.

* AntiVillain: Since the story on Byleth's side is going with the Azure Moon route, Edelgard is bound to be an enemy for Byleth in the future, especially for Dimitri. Edelgard seeks to abolish the Crest system that has been abused by the corrupt for a long time and seeks a world where people can be equals regardless of power or status, even if it means resorting to extreme methods, like planning a war against the Church, or reluctantly allying with the Agarthans to make her dream a reality.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was kidnapped and experimented on by the Agarthans along with her siblings. Only she survived while the rest either died during the experiments or went insane from the experience.
* DramaticIrony: She assumes that Rhea's motives for joining the Black Eagles on their way to Enbarr is out of political power play for the Church. She is unaware of the huge drama that happened in the aftermath of [[spoiler:Sitri's attack]] between Rhea and her allies and that Rhea wants to fix her mistakes thanks to Goetia's prodding.
* MysticalWhiteHair: She has white hair and Goetia gotten involved in the battle in Remire Village because he sensed her dual Crests.

* TeethClenchedTeamwork: She makes it clear she despises working for the Agarthans after what they did to her and her siblings, and she is terrified of their new ally. One of the reasons she seeks Goetia's help is in hopes of breaking ties with the Agarthans.
* VillainHasAPoint: While not evil and her methods to bring down the corrupt society of Fodlan can be considered extreme, it is hard to ignore the [[KnightTemplar negative]] [[MedievalStasis aspects]] of it stemming from Rhea's negligence not to mention the presence of the [[WretchedHive Abyss]] being so downtrodden that it disgusts Goetia to the point of taking on Aelfric's mantle after his death as the new Overseer.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She aims to bring down the Crest reliant social structure of Fodlan which has become corrupt and rotten due to Rhea and the Church's negligence in which she plans to achieve this by plunging the entire continent into a war which will get people on both sides killed, not to mention siding albeit hesitantly with the people who are responsible for her siblings' death, Sothis' state and Rhea's people getting slaughtered.
* WhatTheHellHero: She and Dimitri scolded Claude after they find out that he sent Linhardt to fetch Goetia to bring him to Abyss despite Byleth making it clear earlier that she didn't want to trouble him due to him currently under house-arrest.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:She suffers from the same condition that Lysithea has, thanks to the experimentations from the Agarthans. It is also one of her reasons on why she is determined to make changes to Fodlan no matter the cost]].

!!Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd

The crown prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the house leader of the Blue Lions. A kind-hearted and chivalrous young man, he's one of the few students who is welcoming to Goetia despite his mysterious background. Underneath his warm façade, he hides a darker side that he struggles to keep in control ever since the Tragedy of Duscur.

* BeneathTheMask: Although Dimitri presents himself as a kind, noble and chivalric knight, underneath it all is a deeply traumatized young man who struggles to control an [[AxeCrazy unstable]], [[BloodKnight bloodthirsty]] dark persona that was caused by the Tragedy of Duscur. He would often let that side slip either during intense battles or whenever he's reminded of the tragedy. Due to certain events, this side is seen much earlier on compared to in the games, such as during Lonato's rebellion or the raid at Conrad Tower. Only Felix is aware of this, hence his scathing 'boar king' remarks, in which Byleth takes note of to inquire about later on.
* BerserkButton: Desecration of the dead in any way due to his trauma from the Tragedy of Duscur. When Goetia talks about Necromancy to the others while in the Abyss, he explains how the Chalice's defenses most likely bind the souls of the dead who approach it into undead guardians, which enrages Dimitri that such a mechanism exists--denying the dead their eternal rest.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** [[spoiler: Dimitri was able to stop Sitri from killing a Byleth-possessed Sothis by throwing his lance at the Demon Pillar, impaling it through its wings]]. [[spoiler:The victory is cut short when Sitri's attention is drawn towards [[NiceJobBreakingItHero him and the other students who were still fleeing to safety]]. Luckily, Dimitri's actions gave Sothis the opening needed to deliver a [[WrestlerInAllOfUs suplex]] on Sitri before the Demon Pillar can retaliate]].
** [[spoiler: He joins the fray against an empowered Miklan by throwing his lance straight to his chest before the bandit leader high up and toss him aside before viciously attacking him]].
* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: While his moral compass can distinguish what's right and wrong, his standard for evil and villainy is far too strict--no matter the reason, ideology or excuse--killing is never justified in his eyes and the people who commit these acts are irredeemable evil and not worth sympathizing.
* BloodKnight: Despite his kindhearted and noble nature, Dimitri enjoys the thrill of a battle, whether it is a practice battle against Goetia or putting down rebellions. Several people have notice that he would be more disturbed and vicious during battles, Sothis even noting that he is a tad over-eager during the fight in Conard Tower.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: In the event known by many as The Tragedy of Duscur, his father was assassinated in front of him along with several of his close friends, said event was also used by Faerghus' corrupt nobility to justify pillaging Duscur.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He manages to save Byleth [[spoiler: or rather Sothis in her body]] by throwing his lance at [[spoiler:Sitri]], impaling them. It's noted that he's the only human that managed to harm [[spoiler:the Demon God Pillar]].
* EveryoneHasStandards: He may have a strict moral code but even he finds the Chalice's defense mechanism of binding the bandits' soul to use as ghostly guards to be [[FateWorseThanDeath torture]], not justice.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: He has blonde hair and is one of the idealistic and kind-hearted characters in spite of his inner turmoil thanks to his DarkAndTroubledPast.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Although he's the lord who interacted with Goetia the least, the story is going with the Azure Moon route, with Dimitri's inner demons coming out in the earlier parts of the story, such as during Lonato's rebellion and the assault on Conand Tower.
* MaskOfSanity: While he's genuinely a kindhearted young man, he keeps a lot of his insanity well-hidden that only Felix is aware of. After witnessing Goetia [[spoiler: violently destroying Lonato's army and savagely beating the old man to death]], he questions on how the demon manages to keep it together much better than him.
* StepfordSmiler: As Goetia notes, Dimitri's smile doesn't reach his eyes, hinting of his inner turmoil.
* SuperStrength: The Crest of Blaiddyd grants the user enhanced strength, though he has trouble controlling it. It's because of this that he was able to hold off Goetia a bit in close combat. [[spoiler: He also makes use of this to take down the empowered Miklan for Sylvain to land the killing blow.]]
* WhatTheHellHero:
** After he learns that Claude called for Goetia's aid behind Byleth's back, he and Edelgard chew him out for disrespecting Byleth's wish to not get Goetia in more trouble due to him [[spoiler: currently under house-arrest]].
** When Claude's incessant need to question others ends up blowing up in his face after Goetia finally lashes out at him from the repressed anger that has been boiling, both Dimitri and Lysithea quickly called him out for his insensitive questions and lack of personal boundaries.

The future sovereign duke of the Leicester Alliance and the house leader of the Golden Deer. A cunning and sociable young man and self-proclaimed schemer, he takes an interest in Goetia after the mage saved his life in Remire Village. While he intends on recruiting Goetia to the Leicester Alliance, he finds himself more interested in the mysteries surrounding the former demon.

* ApologizesALot: As whenever his noisiness goes too far, he apologizes to Goetia in Chapter 55 for his insensitive questions about his background and Solomon when the latter was obviously in a foul mood. Goetia tells him he doesn't need to apologize, [[DontYouDarePityMe only because being pitied by others bothers him the most]].
* TheArcher: He's proficient with bows and arrows.
* ConstantlyCurious: He's always in the library mainly to ask a few questions to Goetia or digging up rumors in the Monastery.
* DeadpanSnarker: He's the snarkiest out of the three Lords.
* TheGadfly: He enjoys teasing others, his favorite targets being Dimitri, Lysithea and Goetia.
* FatalFlaw: His curiosity, whenever something or someone catches his interest, he feels compelled to figure out all that he can about them. Unfortunately, [[InnocentlyInsensitive this can result in him being too pushy and foregoing tact disregarding the subject's feelings on the matter]], with Lysithea accusing him of taking people's desire for privacy as a challenge to double down and prod even harder.
* ForWantOfANail: Claude pestering Goetia in the most inopportune time regarding Solomon leads to the normally stoic Goetia blowing up and ranting about his [[LastOfHisKind current state]], which Rhea overhears in the process and leads to her lessening her animosity towards Goetia and realizing that both her and Goetia are [[NotSoDifferentRemark not so different.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: For someone who is interested in other people's secrets, Claude keeps plenty of secrets about himself.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Claude bringing up Solomon's name near the end of Chapter 53, unaware of the anger that has been building up in Goetia from his talk with Rhea, finally has the mage snapping at him.
* TheNicknamer: He gives a few nicknames to some of the characters. He even came up with several varieties of Goetia's nickname before finally settling for "Sparkles".
* OhCrap: Utters one in the aftermath of Goetia's rant when he realizes that he pushed him too far by continuously prying about [[BerserkButton Solomon]]
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: His deciding to grill Goetia over his background while in a tense argument with Rhea resulted in the former exploding. Dimitri and Lysithea of course make it clear how displeased they are with him.
* PrecisionFStrike: He drops one near the end of Chapter 55 [[spoiler: after the Demon Pillar possessing Aelfric revealed itself and fled with the Chalice, kidnapping Byleth and the Ashen Wolves in the process]].

The son of a Count, Linhardt is known for his rather sleepy demeanor and his tendency to slack off given the chance. Though he is studious and insightful whenever motivated by things that interest him, such as his research on Crests and other subject matters. On Edelgard's recommendation, he joins Goetia's class.

* BrilliantButLazy: If the subject matter doesn't interest him at all, he would simply doze off in boredom. That said, Lindhart is competent if properly motivated enough, as on his first day in Goetia's class, he was the first one to achieve his mental trigger which even Lysithea was having trouble with. Not to mention he's one of the few to quickly grasp some of workings of Goetia's magic.
* DeadpanSnarker: He often gives snarky remarks in the same flat tone.
* FellAsleepStandingUp: Chapter 34 has him waiting for Goetia with the others in the Library... and happened to fall asleep while still standing. [[MundaneUtility Goetia fixes the issue by cursing him to remain awake for a couple of hours]].

!!Dorothea Arnault

A former songstress, she's one of the few students who's welcoming to Goetia on his first day. She joins Goetia's class on Edelgard's recommendation.

* BrainyBrunette: For a songstress, she was able to adapt to Goetia's class fairly easy, even achieving her mental trigger on her first day in his class, much to his surprise. She has shown to also be perceptive, deducing that Goetia was related to a noble lineage based on Goetia's personality, intelligence and mannerism.
* CharmPerson: According to Goetia, she has a proficiency with Charm-based magecraft because of her quick adaptability to self-hypnosis.
* DidYouJustScamCthulhu: Well, former Beast. She manages to convince Goetia to experience 'a date' with her by [[FlawExploitation prodding on his pride]], knowing that someone as prideful as Goetia would never accept that anyone can be better than him in a field. Though it is less on romantic interest and more to help teach him some social skills, something Goetia needs.
* TheFashionista: As a former opera singer, Dorothea knows that dressing nicely is always key to first impression when around the company of nobles and has been seen in other outfits outside of her uniform. It's because of this that she manages to convince Goetia to get a new change of clothes.
* MsFanservice: She's very open with her good looks and has worn several outfits that compliments her figure very well during her 'dates' with Goetia.
* NiceGirl: Although flirty, she is kind and pleasant to others, [[JerkassToOne save for a few]]. She was the only student who wasn't afraid to talk to Goetia during his first day, even giving him advice to look out for the people who would be more vocal in their dislike of him.
* TheNicknamer: She calls her friends by shorten names and even calls Goetia by 'Gotie'.
* TheTease: She's known to flirt with anyone, which is best shown in Chapter 73 where she playfully flirts with Goetia when he invites her for breakfast as a way to ask her some questions he has, even going as far as to change into a more skintight outfit for the occasion.
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: When the Black Eagles noticed that Rhea and Goetia have become somewhat amicable (though mostly on Rhea's part), Dorothea and a few others come to the conclusion that there is some romantic tension between the two. For Dorothea, she can't help but be [[ShipperOnDeck excited]] over the idea that Goetia and Rhea are having a secret affair and plans to help, starting with helping Goetia get new clothes.

A kind-hearted young woman who was a former Adrestian noble before moving to the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and settling down as a commoner. She joins Goetia's class after Dimitri asks the mage to teach her healing spells that he knows.

* AchievementInIgnorance: In a combination of charging the gems with too much magic and the gems that Goetia created too weak to contain them, she accidentally causes them to explode-- she basically just learned [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Rin Tohsaka's]] gem attacks.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Goetia teaches her Structural Analysis, scanning objects and their inner workings enables her to learn what needs to be fix.
* CombatMedic: She's the primary healer in the Blue Lions and is taught by Goetia Healing magecraft. But shown during the Blue Lions training battle against Goetia that she's willing to fight, such as throwing an overcharged practice gem at him as an explosive.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She often forget things, such as leaving to bake Goetia an apology cake for accidentally overcharging the practice gems he gave her... forgetting that he was in the middle of teaching her.
* GemstoneAssault: Goetia only introduce Jewel magecraft as a means to help her store magical energy. She accidentally discovers they can be used as explosives after she overcharge the practice gems, he gave her. She uses it for the first time during the practice battle against Goetia, taking him off guard, though he advises her not to use it so casually without practicing, [[{{Fingore}} least she'd lose her fingers]].
* NiceGirl: She's easily one of the sweetest and kindest amongst the students, being one of the few who is kind to Goetia.
* SkewedPriorities: Upon learning from Goetia that Jewel magecraft for offensive use requires years of practice as the practitioner could lose their fingers from an exploding gem, she's more concern that she wouldn't be able to sew anymore rather than the fact she'd lose her fingers, as Annette points it.
* SweetBaker: She's fond of baking and even offers to bake Goetia a cake as a thank-you gift for his lessons.
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: She knows how to sew, even using a metaphor about it to understand Goetia's lesson.

The adopted son of Lord Lonato, who has a great admiration of stories about chivalry and knighthood.

* TheArcher: The archer of the Blue Lions. Goetia even tells him that he shouldn't ditch his bow for a sword.
* {{Bookworm}}: He enjoys tales about heroic knights and was excited about the training battle against Goetia as the role-play simulation seems to be lifted from one of those stories.
* BreakTheCutie: The events of Lonato's rebellion have not been kind to him. He and the other students are forced to quell down the rebellion with the Knights of Seiros when it becomes clear that Lonato has become too much of a threat to be handled alone. Then when they finally confront Lonato, he can only beg for his adoptive father to stop, only for it to fall on deaf ears as a grief-stricken, rage fueled Lonato refuses to listen and proceeds to attack his classmates. To top it all off, Lonato was willing to beat him to death just for trying to stop him. The aftermath of the rebellion leaves him not only mourning over the loss of his adoptive father, but also conflicted about Goetia since he is both his savior and Lonato's killer.
* HumanShield: During the training battle against Goetia, the mage uses him as a shield against Felix's attacks.
* JumpedAtTheCall: He was the only one who readily agrees to explore the Abyss with Byleth and the three lords, while Hilda and Linhardt were forced to come along.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He loves reading books about heroic knights and aspires to become like them. During their role play battle against Goetia, he was given the role as the knight who has come to rescue Flayn from Goetia as a distraction.
* TurnTheOtherCheek: When Goetia attempts to goad Ashe into taking his anger out on him for Lonato's death, believing that the boy holds a grudge against him for it, Goetia's left surprised when Ashe turns down the offer. Ashe reasons that while Goetia did kill Lonato, the former demon also saved Lysithea and the rest of his classmates from his adoptive father's mad quest for vengeance.
* YouKilledMyFather: To Goetia. He admits that he was uneasy around the mage after Lonato's rebellion, but when Goetia offers him a chance to get revenge for Lonato's death, Ashe ultimately refuses, citing that he would be no different from what Lonato did.

A young girl from a village within the Alliance. Competitive and determined, she aspires to become a mercenary like her idol, Jeralt -- including competing against his daughter, Byleth. For that reason, she becomes Goetia's student.

* BadassNormal: She lacks a Crest and isn't skilled in magic compared to the rest of Goetia's students, but he notes that she's in physical peak condition for a woman around her age.
* CompetitionFreak: The reason she joined Goetia's class in the first place was because Byleth became his student and she saw this as a chance to challenge and prove that she can surpass Jeralt's daughter. [[DisappointedByTheMotive Goetia finds himself disappointed in her motives because she joined to compete against Byleth rather than wanting to better herself]].

The youngest student in the Academy and a magical prodigy. Despite her age and gift in magic, she is a hard-worker and dislikes being looked down upon as a child. After a rough first encounter, she becomes Goetia's first student and becomes one of the few individuals that the mage becomes attached to.

* AdorablyPrecociousChild: Due to her young age, she actively tries to dissuade her peers from seeing her as a child, including Goetia.
* AscendedExtra: She made no appearance in the original Cindered Shadows DLC. In the story, Goetia brings her along midpoint of the arc because he has confidence in her abilty to help them find the Chalice of Beginings.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest student enrolled at the academy. Bringing it up or treating her as a kid as a result however, [[BerserkButton is likely to set her off.]]
* BadassAdorable: A cute young girl who so happens to be a powerful and talented mage.
* BerserkButton: Being treated as a child is this to her.
* ChildMage: The youngest student who is a mage and becomes Goetia's first student.
* ChildProdigy: Her magical abilities are described to be this, to the point Goetia is amazed to find one to be impressive by Fodlan's standards.
* DontYouDarePityMe: She absolutely ''hates'' being looked down as weak and helpless. When recovering in the infirmary [[spoiler: from being nearly killed by Lonato]], she figures out that the bracelet Goetia gave to her earlier was in fact a Mystic Code to monitor her health and notify him when she's in danger. Thinking he did it because he didn't trust that she can protect herself, she snaps at him so hard that even he can't get a rebuttal in until she calms down to listen.
* MoralityPet: She's one of the few people that Goetia is attached to, and it is noted that despite him being treating his students fairly, he is shown to have a soft spot for her. [[spoiler: Her being gravely wounded by Lonato is enough for [[PapaWolf Goetia to break his vow as an observer and interfere in the battle]]]].
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Alongside with Flayn, she learns of Goetia's true origins as a demon and his connections with Sitri after the latter confesses to them in amidst a breakdown in Chapter 65]].
* SquishyWizard: She may be a powerful spellcaster, but she's still a young girl who isn't suited for close combat. [[spoiler: She almost got killed by Lonato when he manages to dodge her spells and got close enough to stab her]].
* SweetTooth: She loves sweets and desserts, as much as she tries to hide it. She even invited Goetia to have some cake with her [[spoiler: after recovering from her near-death experience]], [[PetTheDog which the demon accepts]].
* WhatTheHellHero: She ''absolutely'' gives an earful to Claude after his insensitive questions causes Goetia to angrily lash out at him, calling her leader out for his lack of boundaries towards other people's personal life.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's absolutely ''terrified'' of ghosts. She mistaken Goetia as a ghost the first time they met and when he went to quietly get her help in the Cindered Shadows arc and was flinging spells left and right at the Wraiths during the arc out of panic.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Her dual Crests drastically shorten her lifespan as the result of being unnaturally implanted. [[spoiler: Goetia becomes conflicted on whether he should help her or not in this, no part because it reminds him of Mash's situation]].
* YouRemindMeOfX: Part of the reason for Goetia's growing fondness towards her is because she reminds him of Mash Kyrielight, despite both girls being complete opposites. [[spoiler:The reminder becomes painful when Goetia discovers the full extent of her [[YourDaysAreNumbered condition]]]].

!!The Church of Seiros

!!Rhea

The current Archbishop of the Church of Seiros. Her kind and motherly disposition hides a strict and severe attitude towards her enemies. To show her gratitude for them saving the House Leaders, she offers Byleth and Goetia job positions in the Monastery as a professor and an assistant librarian respectively. Though it soon becomes clear that Rhea has some ulterior motive for hiring them.

* AchievementsInIgnorance: While Rhea admits she's not well-versed in the art of crafting artificial life, the fact that she managed to create homunculus with a lifespan of twenty years within a few centuries, inclusion of a Divine Core aside, is nothing short of impressive. For reference, the Einzberns, the foremost experts and pioneers on creating artificial life, were unable to create such a homunculus until they neared the modern day. Even then, it's implied Rhea's homunculus are superior to theirs; Goetia notes that, based on Sitri's symptoms as explained by Rhea, she died of anemia, meaning she could have very well lived much longer.
* AllForNothing: She went against Sothis' wishes and values in her attempts to resurrect her mother. As noted below, however, her efforts only succeed in alienating Sothis, who makes it very clear that she ''doesn't'' want to rule Fodlan, and because of her lack of memories, Sothis is more disgusted with Rhea than grateful. In her own words after getting hit face-first with the results, she "sinned" just for nothing.
* TheAtoner: The aftermath of the Cindered Shadows arc and Goetia's 'talk' with her helps snaps her out from her self-pity, resolving to address the issues in Fodlan that she has ignored due to her unhealthy fixation with Sothis. Her first action is to enbark on a journey to Enbarr to speak to the clergy residing there and pass on her wishes to the current Emperor.
* AuthorityGrantsAsskicking: She is the Archbishop of the Church of Seiros and has shown to have high-level Faith magic and can fight on an even footing against [[spoiler:Demon God Pillar Sitri]] without the need to transform into her dragon form.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: She spent millenia trying to bring her mother, Sothis, BackFromTheDead. She finally succeeded when Sothis awakened within Byleth. Unfortunately, Sothis is reborn as a total amnesiac with no recollection of her past or her knowledge and powers as a Goddess, makes it clear she wasn't interested in taking control of Fodlan again as she hoped, and having seen Seiros' more unsavory actions with Byleth means Sothis shows a less than favorable opinion of her to the point of not even acknowledging her as her daughter.

As for the latter, Goetia is such an [[WildCard unknown]] [[OutsideContextProblem factor]] that she tries to rein him on a metaphorical leash, disliking the fact he's not willing to embrace the Scripture of Seiros and trying to encourage the foreign mage to actively help the Church. After Goetia uses his magic to break into the prison-cells to prove the peasants' innocence on their assassination attempt, [[spoiler:she effectively imprisons him within Monastery grounds, having his movements monitor by guards and limiting his interactions with the students]]. Goetia even points out that she was just waiting for the chance for him to slip up so she can excess some control over him.

* BrokenPedestal: He used to respect Rhea, but Rhea's involvement in his wife's passing and his daughter's birth caused him to be uneasy around her, to the point where he staged a fire to escape with his infant daughter. The reason Rhea would at least attempt to pardon Sitri for the death of Aelfric when Goetia was trying to talk to it was because she suspected that Aelfric would attempt the ritual regardless of the Demon God Pillar's interference.
* BigBadWannabe: He's the one who gathered all the members of the Ashen Wolves so that he can perform the Rite of Rising to resurrect Sitri. Unfortunately, he gets usurped by Sitri, the Demon God Pillar, who managed to possess him for months.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: A kind man who created a place for the outcasts to stay in, including the Ashen Wolves. He turned out to have gathered those bearing the Apostle Crests to commence the Rite of Rising. While not physically or magically powerful like the homunculi that the Einzbern's were known for creating, Sitri managed to live a natural lifespan for twenty years despite her ailment, whereas the Einzbern's homunculi would only live for a few years at best.
* DeathByChildbirth: While she survived giving birth to Byleth, the complications stemming from her illness resulted in Byleth being stillborn. Knowing she doesn't have much time left herself, she requested Rhea to transplant her Crest Stone to Byleth, sparing her daughter while knowing she herself will perish in the process.
* DelicateAndSickly: Her flawed creation resulted in her being physically frail and unable to leave the Monastery throughout her entire life, which likely contributed to Byleth's birth complications. This is even reflected with him utilizing [[JediMindTrick hypnotism]] on several people, such as the peasants he used to stage an assassination attempt on Rhea, and Edelgard to get her to be more compliant in answering his questions.

** It's implied that whatever he showed Lonato [[GoMadFromTheRevelation drove the man to the deep end]], resulting in Lonato becoming more unhinged and determined to kill Rhea. * DragonWithAnAgenda: While he has allied itself with the Agarthans, he has goals of its own which are connected to fulfilling Goetia's old wish.
* EvilIsBigger: Whoever his host is, they tower almost everyone he has encountered and are certainly the antagonists.
* EvilIsNotAToy: He is this to Those who Slither in the Dark. They believed they have control over him, letting him on their plans because he appeared useful to them. Then Thales learns the [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown hard way]] that Lemegeton is not someone you want to anger after the latter learned that Thales neglected to mention Goetia to him.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His real voice is a combination of an [[VoiceOfTheLegion echo]] and the demonic rumble that all Demon Gods have. It seems he can change his voice to sound vaguely normal in order to appear less intimidating when talking to others who are not the Agarthans such as Lonato, Miklan and Edelgard.
* GeniusBruiser: He's shown to be eloquent and intelligent, having crafted the Mystic Codes for Lonato's rebellion and devised strategies for the Agarthans, which heavily contrasts their sheer size and brutal strength they have displayed in battle. The minute he learns of Goetia's presence in Fodlan, he begins to devise a countermeasure against his former King in the event should Goetia refuse to join him.
* HealingFactor: When Alois managed to land a hit on Lemegeton, the small wound that was inflicted reverse back as if he was never harmed at all.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: He may be allied himself with the Agarthans, but he holds no loyalty towards them, his goals are currently a mystery. The only hint about his goals is that they are connected to fulfilling Goetia's old dream.
* InTheHood: His body and face are covered in a full body cloak.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: The minute he heard of Sitri's rampage at the Monastery, he demanded Thales to tell him everything that happened for the past few months. Apparently enraged by the fact Thales neglected to mention Goetia and Sitri's actions, Lemegeton took his fury out on him, rendering Thales incapacitated for the time being. Considering all the things that Thales has done, it's well deserved.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: When Miklan stabs him in the chest when they meet for the first time, Lemegeton's only reaction is to be amused by the murder attempt, continuing his conversation like he wasn't stabbed at all. Of course, that's because he cannot be harmed by a stab wound.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Alongside with Those who slither in the dark, he was the one who created the Enhanced Demonic Beast that was sent to kill the Golden Deer on their first mission, supplied Lonato with the Mad Enchanted swords, sent the 'assassins' as a diversion and manipulated Miklan into taking 'the Goddess' blood' as an experiment. Only a few characters are aware of his existence.
* TheManInFrontOfTheMan: Lemegeton poses as a representative for the Western Church during Lonato's rebellion, but it becomes clear that he is the one pulling the strings with his control over the maddened peasants.
* MeaningfulName: "Lemegeton" refers to the Lesser Key of Solomon, an anonymous grimoire on demonology. This is both the first hint of his relation to Goetia as well as his existence as being a composition of several Demon Pillars inhabiting the same body.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: The reason Lemegeton is more open towards Edelgard is because he finds a lot of similarities between the two of them, and to Goetia to an extent. * SpeakIllOfTheDead: In contrast with Goetia, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone who shows remorse]] [[IDidWhatIHadToDo for being forced to kill Sitri]] to end its rampage, Lemegeton calls the late Sitri a 'revenge-crazed fool' for its pointless rampage. The only regret he has that he was unable to salvage Sitri's knowledge.
* StealthHiBye: Lemegeton has a habit of appearing and disappearing out of nowhere, even though his host is commented multiple times to be freaking huge.
* StealthyColossus: Lemegeton's host is often described as a mountain yet is still capable of [[StealthExpert blending through the crowds and sneaking into places without being noticed]]. It is justified since he has knowledge of several Magecraft, such as hypnotism and noise cancellation, that make it easier for him to sneak around undetected.
* SuperStrength: One of his notable traits is his inhuman strength, capable of punching through the heads of soldiers, lifting up a person with ease, and ripping through steel doors with nothing but his bare hands.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Just as the Agarthan sees him as a means to an end, Lemegeton himself doesn't have a positive opinion on them, viewing them as [[SmugSnake arrogant and pathetic]], with no long-term goal other than getting their petty revenge on the Nabeteans and the humans.
* VillainTakesAnInterest:
** He takes an interest in [[WorldsStrongestMan Jeralt]] during Lonato's rebellion, sensing that he's a first-generation Crest bearer like his host. The reason Lemegeton entered the battlefield was to capture Jeralt in order study him, so he can improve his control over his host. He even warns Kronya not to harm Jeralt until he says otherwise.
** In his first meeting with Edelgard alone, Lemegeton states that she's different from the others for unknown reasons and seems more willing to work with her more than with the Agarthans. He claims it's because he finds her to be a lot like him.
** In contrasts to the Agarthans' hatred towards Sothis and her kin, Lemegeton has taken an interest in Byleth's status as a Demi-Servant, going so far as to aid Miklan so he can stand on even grounds against her in order to get better data from her.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: His voice is accompanied by an echo and sounds as though three people were speaking at once.

The second Demon Pillar to be introduced, its body was destroyed during the destruction of the Timeless Temple, but its mind barely managed to escape. Aelfric's strong desire to resurrect Sitri Eisner lead the Demon Pillar to Fodlan, forcing itself to possess the Cardinal in order to restore some of its strength. It then decided to use Aelfric's original plan to restore Byleth's mother, to instead restore itself to its full power and take revenge on humanity for the death of their brethren.

* AndIMustScream: Prior to arriving in Fodlan, Sitri spent a couple of months as a disembodied mind wandering the Imaginary Space, fully aware they were slowly disintegrating. [[SanitySlippage This experience probably did not help Sitri's sanity]].
* ArcVillain: The true antagonist of this version of the Cindered Shadows arc. It upstages Aelfric via possession prior to the main events.
* AxeCrazy: The destruction of its body, the death of its fellow Demon Pillars and wandering the Imaginary Space as a disembodied mind for months has done a number on Sitri's sanity that by the time Goetia confronts it, it has nothing but revenge on its mind.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: As a Demon God from the Control Tower, Sitri's talents lie in passing on messages and information throughout the network, Sitri's observation skills allow it to deduce the limits of Sothis' time manipulating abilities and enable it predict her next movement and strike back even though it was affected by her powers, lacking Goetia's immunity.
* BerserkButton:
** Like all Demon God Pillars, it holds an immense hatred towards Solomon. It initially believed that Goetia was really just Solomon going by its King's name, planning to kill 'Solomon' as revenge.
** Observation. When Goetia attempted to convince it to stand down and observe humans instead to see where they went wrong with the Human Incineration Order, Sitri is offended that its King would even suggest that. Observing the countless suffering of humans is what lead to the Human Incineration Order and observing humanity once again would mean ignoring the deaths of their brethren because of humanity's rejection.
** Inhuman beings protecting humans. The sight of it enrages Sitri so much that it focuses its attention on Seteth instead of the humans it was killing previously and seeing Flayn entering the fight has Sitri [[VillainousBreakdown losing it]].
* BishonenLine: Like Demon God Pillar Bael and Phenex, it appeared as a shirtless humanoid creature when it finally emerged. Later it gained a form similar to Goetia's Beast mode after it absorbed Sitri Eisner and the Chalice.
* BreakThemByTalking: Sitri delivers several of these to Goetia.
** After realizing that its King has no intention of joining it in its revenge, Sitri shows disappointment on how much Goetia has fallen now that he no longer has a higher purpose or goal to strive for, outright calling him no different from Solomon.
** In its final moments, Sitri vindictively tells Goetia that he has indeed become Solomon after it managed to stab Goetia in the chest and crush his heart. To twist the knife further, Sitri calls him Solomon instead when it finally disappears, leaving Goetia shaken at its final words.
* BrokenPedestal: Just like how Goetia becomes this for it, Sitri has become this to its former King. Sitri's betrayal and attempts to kill him made Goetia realize that without the HiveMind, it is possible that the rest of Demon Gods would not be entirely loyal to him, the Demon Gods developong differing personalities and views he and the Demon Gods may become too different to reach an understanding.
* CombatPragmatist: Sitri's not a powerhouse like it once was and it knows that. It instead resorts to using its cunningness and underhand tactics to get drop on its enemies. It targeted Byleth immediately when it appeared and quickly knocked her unconscious before she uses Divine Pulse, attempted to kill Goetia when his guard was down and wasn't afraid to use Byleth and the Ashen Wolves as hostages to use.
* ConflictKiller: The animosity between Goetia and Rhea tones down after Sitri abducted Byleth and the Ashen Wolves, allowing the two to put aside their differences in order to rescue them.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Sitri's last act when it becomes clear that Goetia will kill it? Lunge its arms at him in an attempt to impale him.
* {{Determinator}}: It managed to endure wandering aimlessly the Imaginary Space with nothing but pure hatred alone before it founds its way to Fodlan. And it will stop at nothing from getting its revenge against all humans.
* DemonicPossession: It possessed Aelfric for several months, residing deep in his mind as it recovered and slowly took over Aelfric. Sitri admits that had it not been for the anchor stemming from Aelfric's strong desire to revive Sitri Eisner, possessing him would have been impossible in its weakened state.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Part of the reason why it initially thought Goetia was Solomon going by its King's name was because the idea that Goetia would interact with humans for this long is unfathomable given Goetia's previous distain for them. Even after Goetia managed to convince Sitri of his identity, it still cannot understand why its King walked amongst human nor why would Goetia refuse to join it in its plans for revenge and choose to protect the humans.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: Sitri and the rest of the Demon God Pillars saw Solomon as a heartless and cruel man for not using his abilities to end suffering. As a last act of defiance towards Goetia before it dies, Sitri managed to fatally wound its King by [[LiteralMetaphor crushing his heart]], mockingly calling him Solomon.
* EvilPlan: Restoring itself to its full power and the total eradication of humanity as revenge for its fellow Demon Pillars.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Sitri has the standard demonic deep voice that all Demon Gods have.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Despite knowing that it will die permanently whether from burning all the mana it has left or being killed during its rampage, Sitri takes its death at the hands of Goetia pretty well. It does help that it managed to fatally wound its King as a last spite.
* FantasticRacism: Chaldea rejecting Goetia's salvation, the destruction of its body and the death of its fellow Demon God Pillars left Sitri with a burning hatred for humanity, viewing them with disgust. It views their extinction as the solution best suited for them.
* ForTheEvulz: Sitri proclaims that its genocidal campaign against humanity is no longer for the sake of bettering humanity, but to avenge its fallen brethren AND because it wants to even when it knows it is a self-destructive endeavor. That being said, it makes use of its cunningness to get the drop on its enemies and has shown to be powerful enough to kill a couple of Demonic Beasts with a single blast. Here, Lonato's benefactor was [[VillainTakesAnInterest interested]] on how far Lonato's determination would take him, thus provided the lord with the weaponry and equipment for him and his troops, granting both enhanced strength, endurance and speed. Though it comes with the cost of Lonato's army [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity becoming fierce]] [[TheBerserker berserkers]] that will slaughter down knights with ease. It is because of this that Lonato's army was able to decimate the Church's army easily compared to the game.
* ArcVillain: He leads a rebellion against the Church and his forces become such a credible threat thanks to [[spoiler:Lemegeton's]] support that the Church was forced to send an army and all three classes to quell it.
* FogOfWar: Like in the original, Lonato intentionally caused a fog during the battle. However this fog was no ordinary fog thanks to it being fueled by [[spoiler:Lemegeton]]--people envelop in the fog not only have lower visibility, but are cut off from distant sounds or movement, making his Berseker army able to attack the enemy without warning. Because [[spoiler:Lemegeton]] left their post because something caught their interest in the battle, a Gaspard commander took their place, making it easier to get rid of the fog once they got taken out.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: He is motivated by his grief and instigates a rebellion against the Church to bring justice to his dead son who was executed by them, however, Lorenz points out that his actions also leave behind many grieving families in the process, not to mention destabilizing his land because of the chaos.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Before starting his rebellion, people said that Lonato was 'in a frenzy' and his motivation to get rid of Rhea not only just to avenge Christophe, but to save all of Fodlan from her. [[spoiler:It's implied that Lemegeton revealed something to Lonato that he accepted Lemegeton's help]].

He steals his family heirloom, the Lance of Ruin in which the Blue Lions are dispatched in response to retrieve the stolen Relic and eliminate his bandit gang. Though things are not easy as they seem in spite of his lack of Crest because of a certain benefactor.

* FreudianExcuse: He lacked a Crest and was pushed in favor for Sylvain, who was born with a Crest. His disownment resulted him resorting to banditry.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: While one can feel sympathy for him for being neglected due to lacking a Crest, it doesn't change the fact that he was a cruel and horrible brother to Sylvain--his cruel action against his younger brother was a contributing factor to his disownment and becoming a bandit leader was something he did all on his own. He gets called out on this by both Sylvain and Felix during the raid at Conrad Tower.

The eponymous demon of the story and former Beast I. After his defeat at the hands of Chaldea in the Temple of Time, Goetia finds himself trapped in another world that's not his own called Fodlan. Instead of trying to find a way back or restart his plans, he decides to use this opportunity and his newly acquired human form to walk among humans in hope of finding the reason on why humanity rejected his wishes. Although he resumes his role as an observer, an encounter with Byleth Eisner and the three House Leaders in Remire Village, changes that plan.

* AllPowerfulBystander: While he's no longer at the same power level as he was back as a Beast and is bound by the limits of a human, he still remains a frighteningly powerful mage and his knowledge would greatly benefit the people of Fodlan. Unfortunately, he has no interest in the socio-political affairs of Fodlan and would only do something if it either affects him or interests him enough to warrant his attention.
* AlmightyJanitor: No one would expect someone with the title 'Assistant Librarian' to be a [[TheArchmage powerful mage]] whose power and knowledge surpasses that of court mages in Fodlan.
* AngstComa: [[spoiler:He was in a coma for three days to both recover from the fatal wound that Sitri dealt to him and from [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone the shock of having to kill his former subordinate]]]].
* AntiHero: 'Heroic' is a far cry from what Goetia is, the former demon even admitting it. He retains his general distain for humanity's mortality and their failings, is still arrogant and condescending and only acts mostly out self interest. He is also shown to willing to have a softer side towards those he cares for (but won't admit), such as Lysithea and Byleth and his continuous interactions with humanity starts influence him.
* TheArchmage: A powerful mage with a wide variety of spells and the intellect to back it up. Of course, he admits that he's still no match against [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter Solomon]] even at full power.
* AttackOnTheHeart: [[spoiler:In its last moments, Sitri manages to fatally stab Goetia through the chest, crushing his heart and the Crest Stone inside it. Goetia has to quickly cast Magecraft on his body before he loses consciousness so that he can recover]].
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Given he was initially tasked to observe humanity, Goetia is able to learn and pick up skills quickly. He already knows all the spells that Fodlan has sans Dark Magic just by studying in the library just in a day. In addition to his keen observation skills, he can also use Structural Analysis to examine the interior components of a person or object for a more thoroughly analysis.
* BadassBookworm: He is a knowledgeable, intelligent mage who gets a job as an Assistant Librarian and becomes a mage tutor to several students on the side. He's also a massive PersonOfMassDestruction who subverts the SquishyMage archetypes, being able to go toe-to-toe with close-combatants. He is often seen reading and one of the reasons he accepted the job as assistant librarian is because the Monastery has access to information about Fodlan, even though he admits the info they provide is not the entire truth.
* BeastOfTheApocalypse: He is not only the former King of Demon Gods, but also Beast I. There is some irony when he is hired by the Monastery to be a librarian's assistant.
* BerserkButton: Even for someone normally impassive, few things that can trigger a reaction from him:
** Solomon. Just the mere mention or bringing up the topic about him irritates him to the point he tries to avoid talking about him as much as possible.
** Reminding him of his defeat and how he lost his arm, Caspar [[InnocentlyInsensitive accidentally]] presses this when he asks on how he lost his arm because of underestimating an opponent.
** He does not take it kindly when people accuse him of taking joy in watching humans struggle and die. He gave Sothis an earful when she did just that.
** In an [[{{Irony}} ironic twist]], he [[DontYouDarePityMe does not like being pitied]] [[CondescendingCompassion or being perceived as weak and helpless by others]]. He gotten into a fight with Byleth and Sothis after they didn't want him to be involve in Abyss to prevent getting him into more trouble with the church [[spoiler: because he's still under probation after the last time they asked him for help]].
** To his confusion, he apparently gained a new one during his time at the Monastery: Hurting Lysithea. [[spoiler: Lord Lonato and his army learned this the hard way when the enraged mage quickly make work of Lonato's rebels and beat the Lord to death after Lonato fatally wounded Lysithea]].
** In Omake 45, the normally apathetic Goetia shows outright contempt and revulsion towards Beast VI/S (aka. Queen Draco) out of all of his fellow Beasts, calling her whore (her title) and silencing her whenever she attempts to talk. This hatred stems from her [[MeetTheNewBoss copying his grand plan in Arcade]] but [[WellIntentionedExtremist instead of recreating the Human Order]], she intended on [[AbstractEater devouring them instead]].
* BeyondTheImpossible: Invoked. To Goetia, the things he can do with magecraft is considered child's play since even the average Magi can do basic magecraft. From the perspective of the people in Fodlan however, Goetia's 'foreign magic' is beyond their understanding to any magic they know of and unheard of before.

** Goetia and Byleth are stoic, reserved individuals who are hard to read and despite exceling in the field of sword arts and magic respectively, have little to [[NoSocialSkills no social skills]] to the point of being tactless and lost in a joke. * HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Goetia's situation has shades of this. He was the immortal King of Demon Gods who commanded the 72 Demon Pillars and single-handily incinerated various parts of the Human Order throughout history. His defeat at the hands of Chaldea results in the destruction of the Temple of Time, the Demon Pillars separated from him, and him becoming human and losing a majority of his power. He wasn't initially bothered by this when he arrived in Fodlan, but by Chapter 54, it has heavily dawned on him that he lost everything and is currently working at a mundane job as an assistant librarian. He decides to use this as an opportunity to walk among the people of Fodlan and learn why humanity rejected his plans to grant them immortality. He also starts to experience different emotions, which troubles him due to them conflicting with his ideals. Even though he's human now, few people such as Sothis and Rhea can sense that something is off with Goetia.
* HumanityIsInfectious: Subtle at first. Not only does the former Beast get turned into a human, but he soon starts to slowly develop emotions and empathy during his journey to understand humanity. Since they clash with [[AllPowerfulBystander his]] [[AlienNonInterferenceClause worldview]], he is naturally confused by this development and unable to cope with these newfound feelings, choosing to distract himself from confronting them. It gets more difficult for him to ignore these issues as time goes on, however, especially when someone confronts him about something that brings said issues to the forefront, such as Byleth asking him to help prove a bunch of hypnotized civilian's innocence. This all culminates to Goetia [[spoiler:refusing to join with Sitri in its plans to KillAllHumans as revenge for their fallen brethren]].

** This gets deconstructed in Chapter 84. Goetia does indeed care for humanity, except he's unable to express it properly as a result of his experience with clairvoyance and his own ego combined with his troubles with his newfound humanity-- makes it difficult for him to be fully honest with himself and others on his intentions. This results in Byleth viewing him as a selfish jerk who doesn't care for anyone.
* JumpedAtTheCall: Goetia got involved in the mess with Abyss because Claude sent Linhardt to ask for his help. To Claude's surprise, Goetia agrees to help, if only because he was bored since his prohibition prevents him teaching his Magecraft classes and his job as an assistant has become a boring routine.
* KingIncognito: From the [[ExactWords way]] Goetia answered Seteth's questions, the latter came to the conclusion that the new Assistant Libarian is actually a disowned prince from a foreign kingdom. Of course, the truth is much complicated than that.
* LackOfEmpathy: At first glance, Goetia can come off as cold and indifferent, uncaring what's happening around him unless it affects him. Several people, including Byleth, call him out for his callousness and refusal to helps others when he could fix the problem. The reason for this is because Goetia based his personality on how Solomon was in the past--a heartless man who ignores suffering even when he sees it in front of him. Though this is ultimately subverted, Goetia does care, [[WellIntentionedExtremist if a little too much]], but his cynicism and his lack of comprehension towards complex human emotions, doesn't let him express empathy in the best way.
* LastNameBasis: He refers to several people by their surnames, indicating that he's not particularly close to them. Those include Claude, Leonie and Constance. This trait seems to have influenced Lysithea because she starts calling Claude by his last name as well.
* LastOfHisKind: He realizes that he may be the only survivor amongst the Demon Pillars, since they either shut down with the destruction of the Temple of Time or died fighting against the Heroic Spirits. Even the Demon Pillars who managed to survive the events, are eventually killed while pursuing their own goals. [[SubvertedTrope Unbeknowst]] [[DramaticIrony to him]], a Demon Pillar [[spoiler:is working with the Agarthans under the name Lemegeton]] while another is implied to be [[DemonicPossession possessing]] Aelfric. [[spoiler: This comes into play when he learns that Sitri survived, and part of the conflict stems from not wanting to kill one of the few Demon Pillars that are left. He attempted to convince Sitri to abandon its plans and leave Fodlan, to which the Demon Pillar refused, consumed by its hatred for humanity, even willing to kill its King just for protecting them]].
* LimitedWardrobe: Goetia is always seen in the same brown robes and nothing else. Since Goetia doesn't care how people perceive him, he doesn't see the problem in wearing the same outfit because a simple robe serves its purpose. This is finally addressed in Chapter 73, with the innkeeper and Dorothea pointing out that Goetia didn't bring a change of clothes, the latter determined to show Goetia the importance of having a change of outfits.
* MagicLibrarian: Goetia works as an assistant librarian and is a powerful [[TheArchmage mage]].
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: [[spoiler: He takes being stabbed in the chest and having his heart crushed with relative ease. It was Sitri's final words and the act of killing it that affected Goetia more]].
* MistakenIdentity: [[spoiler:Demon God Pillar Sitri believes Goetia to be a still-living Solomon, though it's implied Sitri actually refuses to believe Goetia has been debased into a meager human. While Goetia was able to convince Sitri of his true identity, the fact he himself has changed since they last met still soured Sitri's view on him]].
* MrExposition: For someone who prefers to keep to himself, Goetia takes on an expository role whenever explaining or teaching others about magic, magical creatures, history relating to magic or just history in general.
* MundaneUtility: Goetia is an incredibly powerful mage who uses levitation, telekinesis and teleportation to make his work as a library assistant easier. Though he slowly starts relying less on his powers to do simple things is a sign of his developing humanity, such as assisting the soldiers to help clean up the rubble [[spoiler:in the wake of Sitri's attack]]. Though it's implied the real reason that he's not using his powers to quickly fix the Monastery is because he's looking for something to distract himself [[spoiler:from thinking about Sitri's death]].
* MyEyesAreLeaking: [[spoiler:Having never experienced sadness nor seen anyone cry before, Goetia is confused when he realizes that he's crying over Sitri's death in Chapter 65, trying in vain to stop his eyes from 'leaking']].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:After dealing a fatal blow to Sitri with Sothis' help, Goetia realizes what he's done and is promptly horrified for killing one of his own Pillars. Sitri's parting shot that "now [Goetia] is Solomon" doesn't help]].

While readers familiar with Goetia know that he's Solomon's creation and the Beast of Pity who incinerated humanity, he's a mysterious enigma to the rest of Fodlan. Though this is justified given the fact Goetia is [[TrappedInAnotherWorld literally an outsider]] to Fodlan's universe, meaning no one can find any information about him and while he's close off from his past, the few things he does talk about are vague and open to interpretation.

** Although it was Byleth and Sothis that convinced him, Goetia agreed to help them prove the peasant's innocence in the assassination attempt, fully knowing that he would likely be placed on suspicion due to being the only person the Church knows that has access to the magic used to hypnotize the peasants to commit the deed. While Goetia was able to convince Rhea of their innocence and have them released, he ends up imprisoned within Monastery grounds until suspicion around him lifts.
** He attempts to talk [[spoiler:Sitri]] out of their mad quest for revenge, not wanting to kill them. [[spoiler:He almost gets killed by Sitri for this, the latter viewing him as a traitor for protecting the humans]].
* NoSell: His Independant Manifestation ability makes him immune to Time Manipulation abilities, rendering him unaffected by Byleth's Divine Pulse ability. While he remains unchanged when Divine Pulse is activated, the people and the environment surrounding him do not. Sothis uses this to mildly annoy him, such as making people think he's teleporting out of nowhere or a book he just shelved back returns to the last position it was in.
* {{Omniglot}}: Goetia knows and is fluent in several languages, though it is justified that several Magecraft were from different countries that have their chants in their native language. Some of the language he is fluent in is his native tongue Hebrew, English, Japanese, Greek and French.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: People recognize that the situation is dire if the knowledgeable Goetia is at lost for words and cannot formulate an explanation.
* PerpetualFrowner: Aside from an inexpressive look, he rarely shows any other expressions besides bored frowns or annoyed scowls. Several characters take note of this with Claude and Flayn making it a personal mission to make him laugh and [[TheNicknamer Hapi]] starts referring to him as Scowler.
* PhotographicMemory: According to Goetia, he cannot forget any information that he has learned. He can remember the many spells that he knows, recite the Scripture of Seiros flawlessly despite not being a devoted follower, remembers the precise time, day and minutes since he discovered Sothis' existence and recalls the exact number of times and minutes he has conversed with Jeralt in total.
* PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou: It's heavily implied that Goetia's invoking this to Ashe if the latter didn't settle with just punching him for his adoptive father's death.
* PowerTattoo: After the events of Cindered Shadows, the black markings reappear on his arm and legs again. They symbolized his contract with the familiars of Solomon, though he is at lost on why they appeared again [[spoiler:considering they appeared not long after he killed Sitri]].

** When he learns that Byleth's mother shares the same name as the Demon Pillar Sitri, he ''immediately'' tries to look up any information about demons in Fodlan, believing him being here wasn't a coincidence. Considering that [[spoiler: Lemegeton]] is helping the [[spoiler: Agarthans]] and there's implications that Aelfric is possessed by one, he's got every right to be paranoid.
** Originally, he was going to leave the group to deal with the bandit attacks, but once he learns about the Chalice of Beginnings, he wastes no time in helping the group in looking for it. From experience with the Holy Grail back in his world, he is determined to find and destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands, knowing that the results won't be pretty whether the ritual succeeds or not. And his paranoia is not unfounded considering what happens in the original events of the DLC.
* RageBreakingPoint: With the [[UnstoppableRage exception with the Lonato incident]], he usually [[TranquilFury doesn't show his anger or irritation]]. The beginning of the Cindered Shadows arc has him at odds with the Church due to his house-arrest, which all comes to head in Chapter 53 after a very tensed talk with Rhea. The accumulation of Rhea's [[CondescendingCompassion patronizing talk with him]], being forced to an agreement with her and swallowing his pride, on top of being reminded of Solomon being the reason he's in this situation in the first place and the fact that he may be the last of his kind having recently dawned on him, finally has Goetia lashing out at Claude after the boy mentioned Solomon again, unleashing the pent-up rage he has kept hidden since he arrived in Fodlan.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Although his human form has the appearance of a 26-year-old male, he's actually over 3000-years old. He's one of the few characters who can still claim that he's older than [[OlderThanTheyLook Flayn]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Goetia's red eyes are one of the few hints to his demonic origins. Even though he's no longer a Beast, they still reflect his dangerous nature, especially when angered. It is noted by other characters that his eyes [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glow]] whenever he's enraged or casting a spell.
* ReformedButNotTamed: He goes from Beast who plotted the Incineration of Humanity to an Assistant Libarian in Garreg Mach Monastery that helps out the students... but is still arrogant and dismissive with his ideologies clashing with other characters. Part of his CharacterDevelopment is understanding humanity through the eyes of a human and walking among of them as one instead of pitying them.
* ReputationApathy: He is viewed as a heathen foreigner by the clergy and is disliked by some of the more zealous knights. Goetia remains unconcerned on how they perceive him and only partook in the Rite of Rebirth sermon because it was mandatory for all staff members.
** Subverted though, when he realizes that this will also affect his plan to elevate the Abyss from its state as a WretchedHive following Aelfric's death. [[spoiler: Which is why Rhea accompanying Goetia and the Black Eagles to Enbarr without notice plays right into his cards to improve his reputation.]]
* RetiredMonster: He was once a Beast that embodies Pity and instigated the Incineration of Humanity. After being defeated by Chaldea, he's now human, missing an arm and trapped in another world. Although he accepts his loss and has no interest in restarting his plans in Fodlan, he's not remorseful for his past actions and can be ruthless if pushed [[spoiler:as his actions against Lord Lonato and his army shows]]. Still, he uses this opportunity to learn more of humanity and understand why they rejected his wishes.
* RippleEffectProofMemory: Thanks to his immunity against Time Manipulation, Goetia remembers the events that transpired before Byleth's Divine Pulse takes effect, even aware when time is reversed.
* ScaryLibrarian: While he's only an assistant librarian and is known to be [[TheStoic normally calm and detached]], but as Lonato and Claude can attest to, [[YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry you don't want to anger the former demon]]. [[spoiler:For the former, Lonato got punched to death by an enraged Goetia]].
* SecretKeeper: He is the only other person who knows about Sothis residing in Byleth's mind.
* SecretSecretKeeper: He quickly learns some of the secrets of several characters or Fodlan's history due to his powers, unbeknownst to others. The only reason he doesn't confront the issue is that it doesn't concern him.
** He sensed that [[spoiler:both Edelgard and Lysithea have two Crests]] but decides to observe them in order to learn of their origins. [[spoiler: After the events of Lonato's rebellion, he learns that the two Crests have drastically shorten Lysithea's lifespan]].
** He is well aware that Rhea, Flayn, and Seteth are actually dragons, but says nothing. This is less out of respect for their privacy and more that he can't be bothered.
** Upon learning Sothis' existence and seeing her for the first time, he's able to deduce that she's the Goddess the Church, and the dragons' worship, but keeps it from Sothis to see how things play out. Sothis was ''not'' happy when she learned that he kept this information from her.
** He also discovers that [[spoiler: 'Tomas' is actually a disguised Solon when he first meets the librarian but doesn't confront the Agarthan as it doesn't concern him if the Church can't root out spies within their own staff]].
** When he sees Thunderbrand for the first time, he finds himself surprise to see that the Hero's Relics [[spoiler: are actually constructed from Dragon bones]].
** Like the above mentioned, [[spoiler: from the moment he sees the Sword of the Creator, he realizes that it's crafted from Sothis' spine and hip bones]].
** After examining Hapi's origin, he discovers that [[spoiler: her Crest has been experimented on to its current, unstable form]].
** [[spoiler: Even in his depressed state, he manages to see through Kronya's disguise and makes a thoroughly analysis of the Agarthans. He promptly made her forget of the incident]].
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Subjects Hapi to this by inviting her to accompany him as he negotiates with Claude regarding on using his Alliance connections to help revitalize the Abyss. This is to properly gauge on how she can control her emotions and temper, along on how she can make use of her tampered Crest properly.
* SeenItAll: [[TimeAbyss Having seen Gods, witness all kinds of magic and events beyond possibility, and experience a millennium of watching people suffer from hardships and death]], has left Goetia [[TheStoic desensitized and nonchalant]] to coming across these things again in another world. To him, talking to the Goddess of Fodlan is the equivalent of passing by a cat on the streets. Though this [[FantasticallyIndifferent indifference]] does cause problems like him not informing anyone that [[spoiler: Tomas]] is an imposter in disguise.
* SelectiveObliviousness: It seems he refuses to entertain the idea that the other Demon Pillars have survived, because of the low likelihood [[spoiler: and the trauma from killing Sitri]]. Though it is implied it is latter reasoning [[spoiler: as when the possibility of another Demon God might also be around and causing several incidents that would disrupte the Church, Goetia chooses to attribute them to the now deceased Sitri, rather than believe that it is the work of another]].
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: A millennia of witnessing humanity's flaws and crimes and watching the cycle repeat itself has left him with a rather cynical outlook on people in general, which puts him at odds with several idealistic characters such as Flayn, who he brushes off as naive.
* SinisterSurveillance: Downplayed. It's implied the real reason Rhea hired him as Tomas' new assistant was to keep a close eye on him due to sensing his demonic nature. Later, the aftermath of the Rite of Rebirth has resulted in Goetia being placed under house-arrest due to displaying powers that is unknown to Fodlan, with guards constantly watching his movement.
* ShipTease: Goetia surprisingly has a lot of subtext with several characters, particularly [[EmotionlessGirl Byleth]], [[AmnesiacGod Sothis]], [[BroodingBoyGentleGirl Flayn]] and [[NotSoDifferentRemark Rh]][[LikeAnOldMarriedCouple ea]]. For extra irony, the above mentioned [[spoiler:[[HasAType are in some way connected to Sothis]]]].
* SmugSuper: Goetia is extremely confident in his abilities and knowledge and has the tremendous powers to back up his ego, even when he is merely a shell of his former self. And with being the Beast of Pity, he will occasionally boast of his own superiority as if it's a fact.
* SoleSurvivor: As far as he knows, he's the only among his brethren who survived the destruction of the Timeless Temple. [[spoiler:But with the reveal of Lemegeton and Sitri, he might not be the only who managed to survive]].
* SpockSpeak: Goetia talks in an almost emotionless and analytical fashion, prefers to [[TerseTalker use few words]] to get to the point, but will also use [[SesquipedalianLoquaciousness precise technical terms]] whenever he gives an [[MagiBabble explanation]] or answers a [[ExpospeakGag question]]. He also has trouble in [[BluntMetaphorsTrauma distinguishing metaphors and figure of speeches]] due to being [[LiteralMinded literal-minded]] at times.
* StealthInsult: Goetia is fond of using backhanded compliments that are quite mocking and insulting towards the subject. Sothis, Rhea and Claude in particular are often the receiver ends of these 'compliments'.
* TheStoic: He usually maintains a calm and apathetic disposition, rarely surprised by anything.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Despite his hatred towards his creator, Goetia's human form strongly resembles Solomon's, with the exception of having golden, glowing hair and red eyes. [[spoiler:The resemblance is so strong that Sitri initially mistook Goetia for Solomon]].
* SurvivorsGuilt: This becomes prominent when he realized he may be the only survivor among his kin and it becomes fully realized after [[spoiler:Goetia is forced to kill Sitri]]. He has been having nightmares ever since that incident.
* {{Telepathy}}: Mental communication is one of the many skills he can do. He finally establishes a mental connection with Byleth in Chapter 49, enabling him to communicate with her and Sothis through telepathy and vice-versa. The reason he didn't bother to do this in the first place was because he wasn't initially interested in expanding energy to create a link.
* WillNotTellALie: He will not tell a lie, in fact he's rather tactless and straight-forward. But he has no qualms of [[YouDidntAsk omitting important details]], [[ExactWords phrasing things in misleading ways]] and [[MetaphoricallyTrue half-truths]] if the situation requires it. After all, telling people the truth of his origins and nature would be detrimental to his quest in understanding humanity.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He has shown a couple times without his robes on, his well-toned muscles and abs all to see.
** Chapter 36 shows that [[SleepsInTheNude he only sleeps in a pair of shorts and nothing else]], with Byleth seeing his six-pack when she went to wake him up.
** Chapter 58 has Goetia removing his already ruined robes to [[spoiler:implant a Crest Stone inside him so he can have a power boost to fight Sitri]]. He spends the majority of the fight with only a pair of pants on.
** Chapter 61 has him teleporting from the Monastery to the makeshift recovery tents in nothing but a small cloth that hides his modesty. This one is not play for fanservice [[spoiler:because it shows that Goetia is in such a depressive state from killing Sitri that he barely cares about his own wellbeing]].
* WhatIsThisFeeling:
** As he finds the answers he seeks about humanity and no longer bound by Pity, Goetia begins to experience different types of emotions. He struggles to understand and express them clearly as they clash with his ideals and don't run on any logical justification. [[spoiler:When Lysithea is fatally stabbed by Lonato, Goetia finally understands what [[UnstoppableRage pure, unadulterated rage]] feels like. He [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge "thanks"]] Lonato for this experience by wiping out his army and pummeling the Lord to death]].
** During his 'date' with Dorothea, the topic of music was brought up, prompting Goetia to recall that Solomon wrote a song himself called 'Song of Songs'--which was about [[IntercourseWithYou celebrating sexual congress]]. What's more, the poem was implied to be for the Queen of Sheba. Goetia admits that before he was only annoyed by the poem, but now feels something akin to horror when thinking about the song. Dorothea quickly points out that this feeling is embarrassment, both agreeing to drop the subject about this poem.
* WildCard: Despite being hired by the Church, he ultimately holds no real loyalties towards them and only does things out of self-interest. It is because of this status that both Rhea and Edelgard are keeping an eye on him, the latter even aware that he could be a powerful ally or a huge threat to her plans if she cannot determine his stance before the time comes, especially after she saw firsthand on what [[AllPowerfulBystander he did]] to [[OneManArmy Lonato's army]] [[CurbStompBattle in]] [[PersonOfMassDestruction mere seconds]].
* WillfullyWeak: He generally does not fight with his full capabilities. For the most part, this is due to him not seeing most of his enemies as worth expending that much power and effort for. [[spoiler:In Chapter 58, the author notes that he's still holding back despite the circumstances of the battle because he ''really'' doesn't want to kill Sitri.]]
* WouldHitAGirl: Goetia recounts that he snapped Ishtar's (specifically her host's) spine into half, in responses to being struck by her Noble Phantasm during the final battle at the temple after he was depowered by Ars Nova.
* YouAreWhatYouHate: His hatred towards Solomon is well known and Goetia refuses to be anything like his creator -- a heartless and cruel observer [[AllPowerfulBystander who could solve the problems but chooses not to]]. But as others point out, he's emulating being an observer like Solomon was even it becomes clear he hates this position. In fact, Goetia only acts if either something caught his interest or when someone asks for his help as without either those reasons, he doesn't seem to have much interest in anything else. Even his intervention in Lonato's rebellion was partially motivated by spite towards Solomon. [[spoiler:It is only when Sitri bitterly remarks that Goetia has become [[NotSoDifferentRemark no different]] from Solomon that Goetia is forced to realize this]].
* YouDidntAsk: Whenever the characters find out that Goetia has been keeping important information to himself, he usually responds with this answer. This is finally deconstructed when his continued omission of the truth is one of the reasons Byleth loses trust in him in Chapter 84.

She becomes acquainted with Goetia when her father's mercenary group camped at Remire Village and soon, both are hired as a professor and an assistant librarian respectively in Garreg Mach Monastery. Not only is she the house professor for the Blue Lions and a student in Goetia's class, but she also soon gets involve with the conspiracies of the Church and the secrets surrounding herself and Goetia.

* TheAce: She's a skilled mercenary and an [[MasterSwordsman accomplished swordswoman]] who already gained a reputation as the [[RedBaron Ashen Demon]] at a young age.
* AngstWhatAngst: Discussed InUniverse and Subverted. Upon learning from Rhea regarding her late mother and the nature of her birth, she is troubled not on what happened to her mother but rather on how her father is heavily affected by this due to not having any connections to Sitri beforehand along with Jeralt not talking about her a lot.
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler: She gets knocked out and kidnapped alongside the Ashen Wolves by the Demon Pillar Sitri to act as an additional [[TargetedHumanSacrifices sacrifice for the Chalice]] because of her status as Sothis' vessel]].
* BadassTeacher: She's a famed mercenary, professor of the Blue Lions and will not hesitate to fight on the frontlines alongside them.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason she seems comfortable around Goetia was because, unlike most people who meet her for the first time, he didn't seem bothered by her [[EmotionlessGirl emotionless]] disposition when they first met, even able to tell what she was thinking from the looks on her eyes.
* BirdsOfAFeather: She and Goetia are stoic, reserved individuals who are hard to read and despite exceling in the field of sword arts and magic respectively, have little to no social skills to the point of being tactless and lost in a joke. Naturally, Byleth gets along well with Goetia because of this. She also tries to distract herself from troubling thoughts just like Goetia.
* {{BFS}}: She obtains the fabled 'Sword of the Creator' during the Rite of Rebirth.
* BrutalHonesty: Like Goetia, Byleth isn't afraid to speak what's on her mind even if its blunt, though this has mostly to do with her lack of social experience and emotionless demeanor.
* CharacterDevelopment: Even though Byleth was offered the position as an instructor out of the blue, she slowly grows to care for her students in the Blue Lions. Even after learning everything Rhea did to her, she refuses to leave the Monastery because it would mean abandoning the Blue Lions.
* ChasteHero: For her skills as a mercenary, she is completely clueless in the romance department. She is unfazed by [[TheCasanova Sylvain's]] flirtation attempts on her and is oblivious whenever someone teases her relationship with Goetia.
* CombatPragmatist: Prioritizing her survival is a key essential as a mercenary, so would use whatever is available in the area against her opponent, including fighting dirty. That includes [[AHandfulForAnEye throwing dirt to her opponents' eyes]] or [[GroinAttack kicking them in the groin]].
* TheComicallySerious: Her stoic attitude and calm demeanor never falters, even doing activities such as fishing or reacting to absurd situations.
* CoolTeacher: She soon grows into this role, with her students putting their trust her and Byleth refuses to abandon them when her father attempts to leave Garreg Mach Monastery with her after learning what Rhea did to his wife and daughter.
* CovertPervert: Her emotionless expression and stoic demeanor doesn't show, but her noticing Goetia's six-pack at the start of Chapter 36 appears to be [[EatingTheEyeCandy more than just surprise at the mage's fitness]]. This is emphasis more in the Omakes, where she sniffs Goetia's hair and admits having taken a picture of him while he slept.
* DaddysGirl: Despite her stoic demeanor, Byleth is close to her father, Jeralt, being the only one prior to meeting Goetia, who can understand her in spite of her difficulty in expressing herself. The reason she's troubled from the revelation of her birth was because her father was affected the most from learning the truth about his wife.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: She shares this role with Sothis, her development during her time as a professor and learning the secrets and origins of Sothis being one of the focuses in the story next to Goetia's development.

* FriendlessBackground: She spent a majority of her life traveling with her father and band of mercenaries that she never made a friend. It doesn't help that her lack of emotions put off some of the mercenaries in her father's group that they were never really that close.

* MoralityChain: Gradually it is shown that she acts as one for Goetia, being the only person that he will listen to if he's going too far.
** When Goetia questions Hapi on why she finds people using other people horrible (unaware about her [[DarkAndTroubledPast past experiences]]), he starts edging on territories that make Hapi confused and uncomfortable on the matter. Even after Balthus tells him to stop, it's only when Byleth intervenes does he listen to her and stop his questioning.
* MoralityPet: She's one of the few people that Goetia's close to, which the demon admits, regardless of if there's any ShipTease or not.
* NoSocialSkills: Being raised as a mercenary for the majority of her life, Byleth's social skills are somewhat... lacking. She's not much of a talker, lacks tact and prefers to keep conversations short and simple, not to mention doesn't understand jokes. Sothis even says that she's worse in this than ''Goetia''.
* PowerDyesYourHair: Her signature teal hair turns to pale green like Rhea's as a result of becoming the Enlighted One [[spoiler:because of Sitri's machinations leading to her transformation]]. For her part, Byleth's only real problem with her new hair color is that it will make it harder for her to blend in the dark.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Her name is an alternative version of Beleth, the thirteenth demon from Literature/ArsGoetia. Goetia didn't think much about her name when they first met until he learns that her mother was named Sitri, making him realize there is a possible connection between her name and Demon Pillar Beleth.
* SecretKeeper: After the events of Lonato's rebellion, she and Sothis get confirmation from Goetia himself that he isn't human. He still keeps ''what'' he is from them though, [[FigureItOutYourself letting them find out by themselves]].
* ShipperOnDeck: She's this InUniverse, at least in the "Matchmaker" omakes, though both Sothis and Goetia question why in the world she thought pairing Ashe with Catherine, i.e. the woman who turned over Ashe's brother to the Knights of Seiros and a KnightTemplar, was a good idea.
* ShipTease: There are plenty of moments between her and Goetia. Byleth is one of the few people that Goetia considers to be important and that extends beyond her status as the vessel of the Goddess.

** When she learns that Claude disobeyed her orders to not get Goetia involved, she remains emotionless, but her cornering the Golden Deer Leader makes it clear she isn't happy at all.
** She retains her calm demeanor throughout Chapter 84, but the narration makes it clear she's getting irritated with Goetia dodging her questions and his tendencies to omit certain details. This all cumulates with her realizing that [[spoiler:Goetia knew about Lysithea's condition but did nothing to fix it]], leading her to be disappointed in Goetia and coldy calling him a 'self-centered bastard' before walking away.

* AntiVillain: Since the story on Byleth's side is going with the Azure Moon route, Edelgard is bound to be an enemy for Byleth in the future, especially for Dimitri. Edelgard seeks to abolish the Crest system that has been abused by the corrupt for a long time and seeks a world where people can be equals regardless of power or status, even if it means resorting to extreme methods, like planning a war against the Church, or reluctantly allying with the Agarthans to make her dream a reality.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was kidnapped and experimented on by the Agarthans along with her siblings. Only she survived while the rest either died during the experiments or went insane from the experience.
* DramaticIrony: She assumes that Rhea's motives for joining the Black Eagles on their way to Enbarr is out of political power play for the Church. She is unaware of the huge drama that happened in the aftermath of [[spoiler:Sitri's attack]] between Rhea and her allies and that Rhea wants to fix her mistakes thanks to Goetia's prodding.

The crown prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the house leader of the Blue Lions. A kind-hearted and chivalrous young man, he's one of the few students who is welcoming to Goetia despite his mysterious background. Underneath his warm façade, he hides a darker side that he struggles to keep in control ever since the Tragedy of Duscur.

* BeneathTheMask: Although Dimitri presents himself as a kind, noble and chivalric knight, underneath it all is a deeply traumatized young man who struggles to control an [[AxeCrazy unstable]], [[BloodKnight bloodthirsty]] dark persona that was caused by the Tragedy of Duscur. He would often let that side slip either during intense battles or whenever he's reminded of the tragedy. Due to certain events, this side is seen much earlier on compared to in the games, such as during Lonato's rebellion or the raid at Conrad Tower. Only Felix is aware of this, hence his scathing 'boar king' remarks, in which Byleth takes note of to inquire about later on.
* BerserkButton: Desecration of the dead in any way due to his trauma from the Tragedy of Duscur. When Goetia talks about Necromancy to the others while in the Abyss, he explains how the Chalice's defenses most likely bind the souls of the dead who approach it into undead guardians, which enrages Dimitri that such a mechanism exists--denying the dead their eternal rest.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** [[spoiler: Dimitri was able to stop Sitri from killing a Byleth-possessed Sothis by throwing his lance at the Demon Pillar, impaling it through its wings]]. [[spoiler:The victory is cut short when Sitri's attention is drawn towards [[NiceJobBreakingItHero him and the other students who were still fleeing to safety]]. Luckily, Dimitri's actions gave Sothis the opening needed to deliver a [[WrestlerInAllOfUs suplex]] on Sitri before the Demon Pillar can retaliate]].
** [[spoiler: He joins the fray against an empowered Miklan by throwing his lance straight to his chest before the bandit leader high up and toss him aside before viciously attacking him]].
* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: While his moral compass can distinguish what's right and wrong, his standard for evil and villainy is far too strict--no matter the reason, ideology or excuse--killing is never justified in his eyes and the people who commit these acts are irredeemable evil and not worth sympathizing.
* BloodKnight: Despite his kindhearted and noble nature, Dimitri enjoys the thrill of a battle, whether it is a practice battle against Goetia or putting down rebellions. Several people have notice that he would be more disturbed and vicious during battles, Sothis even noting that he is a tad over-eager during the fight in Conard Tower.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: In the event known by many as The Tragedy of Duscur, his father was assassinated in front of him along with several of his close friends, said event was also used by Faerghus' corrupt nobility to justify pillaging Duscur.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He manages to save Byleth [[spoiler: or rather Sothis in her body]] by throwing his lance at [[spoiler:Sitri]], impaling them. It's noted that he's the only human that managed to harm [[spoiler:the Demon God Pillar]].
* EveryoneHasStandards: He may have a strict moral code but even he finds the Chalice's defense mechanism of binding the bandits' soul to use as ghostly guards to be [[FateWorseThanDeath torture]], not justice.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: He has blonde hair and is one of the idealistic and kind-hearted characters in spite of his inner turmoil thanks to his DarkAndTroubledPast.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Although he's the lord who interacted with Goetia the least, the story is going with the Azure Moon route, with Dimitri's inner demons coming out in the earlier parts of the story, such as during Lonato's rebellion and the assault on Conand Tower.
* MaskOfSanity: While he's genuinely a kindhearted young man, he keeps a lot of his insanity well-hidden that only Felix is aware of. After witnessing Goetia [[spoiler: violently destroying Lonato's army and savagely beating the old man to death]], he questions on how the demon manages to keep it together much better than him.
* StepfordSmiler: As Goetia notes, Dimitri's smile doesn't reach his eyes, hinting of his inner turmoil.
* SuperStrength: The Crest of Blaiddyd grants the user enhanced strength, though he has trouble controlling it. It's because of this that he was able to hold off Goetia a bit in close combat. [[spoiler: He also makes use of this to take down the empowered Miklan for Sylvain to land the killing blow.]]
* WhatTheHellHero:
** After he learns that Claude called for Goetia's aid behind Byleth's back, he and Edelgard chew him out for disrespecting Byleth's wish to not get Goetia in more trouble due to him [[spoiler: currently under house-arrest]].
** When Claude's incessant need to question others ends up blowing up in his face after Goetia finally lashes out at him from the repressed anger that has been boiling, both Dimitri and Lysithea quickly called him out for his insensitive questions and lack of personal boundaries.

A cunning and sociable young man and self-proclaimed schemer, he takes an interest in Goetia after the mage saved his life in Remire Village. While he intends on recruiting Goetia to the Leicester Alliance, he finds himself more interested in the mysteries surrounding the former demon.

* ApologizesALot: As whenever his noisiness goes too far, he apologizes to Goetia in Chapter 55 for his insensitive questions about his background and Solomon when the latter was obviously in a foul mood. Goetia tells him he doesn't need to apologize, [[DontYouDarePityMe only because being pitied by others bothers him the most]].
* TheArcher: He's proficient with bows and arrows.
* ConstantlyCurious: He's always in the library mainly to ask a few questions to Goetia or digging up rumors in the Monastery.
* DeadpanSnarker: He's the snarkiest out of the three Lords.
* TheGadfly: He enjoys teasing others, his favorite targets being Dimitri, Lysithea and Goetia.
* FatalFlaw: His curiosity, whenever something or someone catches his interest, he feels compelled to figure out all that he can about them. Unfortunately, [[InnocentlyInsensitive this can result in him being too pushy and foregoing tact disregarding the subject's feelings on the matter]], with Lysithea accusing him of taking people's desire for privacy as a challenge to double down and prod even harder.

The son of a Count, Linhardt is known for his rather sleepy demeanor and his tendency to slack off given the chance. Though he is studious and insightful whenever motivated by things that interest him, such as his research on Crests and other subject matters. On Edelgard's recommendation, he joins Goetia's class.

* BrilliantButLazy: If the subject matter doesn't interest him at all, he would simply doze off in boredom. That said, Lindhart is competent if properly motivated enough, as on his first day in Goetia's class, he was the first one to achieve his mental trigger which even Lysithea was having trouble with. Not to mention he's one of the few to quickly grasp some of workings of Goetia's magic.
* DeadpanSnarker: He often gives snarky remarks in the same flat tone.
* FellAsleepStandingUp: Chapter 34 has him waiting for Goetia with the others in the Library... and happened to fall asleep while still standing. [[MundaneUtility Goetia fixes the issue by cursing him to remain awake for a couple of hours]].

She has shown to also be perceptive, deducing that Goetia was related to a noble lineage based on Goetia's personality, intelligence and mannerism.
* CharmPerson: According to Goetia, she has a proficiency with Charm-based magecraft because of her quick adaptability to self-hypnosis.
* DidYouJustScamCthulhu: Well, former Beast. She manages to convince Goetia to experience 'a date' with her by [[FlawExploitation prodding on his pride]], knowing that someone as prideful as Goetia would never accept that anyone can be better than him in a field. Though it is less on romantic interest and more to help teach him some social skills, something Goetia needs.
* TheFashionista: As a former opera singer, Dorothea knows that dressing nicely is always key to first impression when around the company of nobles and has been seen in other outfits outside of her uniform. It's because of this that she manages to convince Goetia to get a new change of clothes.
* MsFanservice: She's very open with her good looks and has worn several outfits that compliments her figure very well during her 'dates' with Goetia.
* NiceGirl: Although flirty, she is kind and pleasant to others, [[JerkassToOne save for a few]]. She was the only student who wasn't afraid to talk to Goetia during his first day, even giving him advice to look out for the people who would be more vocal in their dislike of him.
* TheNicknamer: She calls her friends by shorten names and even calls Goetia by 'Gotie'.
* TheTease: She's known to flirt with anyone, which is best shown in Chapter 73 where she playfully flirts with Goetia when he invites her for breakfast as a way to ask her some questions he has, even going as far as to change into a more skintight outfit for the occasion.
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: When the Black Eagles noticed that Rhea and Goetia have become somewhat amicable (though mostly on Rhea's part), Dorothea and a few others come to the conclusion that there is some romantic tension between the two. For Dorothea, she can't help but be [[ShipperOnDeck excited]] over the idea that Goetia and Rhea are having a secret affair and plans to help, starting with helping Goetia get new clothes.

A kind-hearted young woman who was a former Adrestian noble before moving to the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and settling down as a commoner. She joins Goetia's class after Dimitri asks the mage to teach her healing spells that he knows.

* AchievementInIgnorance: In a combination of charging the gems with too much magic and the gems that Goetia created too weak to contain them, she accidentally causes them to explode-- she basically just learned [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Rin Tohsaka's]] gem attacks.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Goetia teaches her Structural Analysis, scanning objects and their inner workings enables her to learn what needs to be fix.
* CombatMedic: She's the primary healer in the Blue Lions and is taught by Goetia Healing magecraft. But shown during the Blue Lions training battle against Goetia that she's willing to fight, such as throwing an overcharged practice gem at him as an explosive.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She often forget things, such as leaving to bake Goetia an apology cake for accidentally overcharging the practice gems he gave her... forgetting that he was in the middle of teaching her.
* GemstoneAssault: Goetia only introduce Jewel magecraft as a means to help her store magical energy. She accidentally discovers they can be used as explosives after she overcharge the practice gems, he gave her. She uses it for the first time during the practice battle against Goetia, taking him off guard, though he advises her not to use it so casually without practicing, [[{{Fingore}} least she'd lose her fingers]].
* NiceGirl: She's easily one of the sweetest and kindest amongst the students, being one of the few who is kind to Goetia.
* SkewedPriorities: Upon learning from Goetia that Jewel magecraft for offensive use requires years of practice as the practitioner could lose their fingers from an exploding gem, she's more concern that she wouldn't be able to sew anymore rather than the fact she'd lose her fingers, as Annette points it.
* SweetBaker: She's fond of baking and even offers to bake Goetia a cake as a thank-you gift for his lessons.
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: She knows how to sew, even using a metaphor about it to understand Goetia's lesson.

The adopted son of Lord Lonato, who has a great admiration of stories about chivalry and knighthood.

* TheArcher: The archer of the Blue Lions. Goetia even tells him that he shouldn't ditch his bow for a sword.
* {{Bookworm}}: He enjoys tales about heroic knights and was excited about the training battle against Goetia as the role-play simulation seems to be lifted from one of those stories.
* BreakTheCutie: The events of Lonato's rebellion have not been kind to him. He and the other students are forced to quell down the rebellion with the Knights of Seiros when it becomes clear that Lonato has become too much of a threat to be handled alone. Then when they finally confront Lonato, he can only beg for his adoptive father to stop, only for it to fall on deaf ears as a grief-stricken, rage fueled Lonato refuses to listen and proceeds to attack his classmates. To top it all off, Lonato was willing to beat him to death just for trying to stop him. The aftermath of the rebellion leaves him not only mourning over the loss of his adoptive father, but also conflicted about Goetia since he is both his savior and Lonato's killer.
* HumanShield: During the training battle against Goetia, the mage uses him as a shield against Felix's attacks.
* JumpedAtTheCall: He was the only one who readily agrees to explore the Abyss with Byleth and the three lords, while Hilda and Linhardt were forced to come along.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He loves reading books about heroic knights and aspires to become like them. During their role play battle against Goetia, he was given the role as the knight who has come to rescue Flayn from Goetia as a distraction.
* TurnTheOtherCheek: When Goetia attempts to goad Ashe into taking his anger out on him for Lonato's death, believing that the boy holds a grudge against him for it, Goetia's left surprised when Ashe turns down the offer. Ashe reasons that while Goetia did kill Lonato, the former demon also saved Lysithea and the rest of his classmates from his adoptive father's mad quest for vengeance.
* YouKilledMyFather: To Goetia. He admits that he was uneasy around the mage after Lonato's rebellion, but when Goetia offers him a chance to get revenge for Lonato's death, Ashe ultimately refuses, citing that he would be no different from what Lonato did.

A young girl from a village within the Alliance. Competitive and determined, she aspires to become a mercenary like her idol, Jeralt -- including competing against his daughter, Byleth. For that reason, she becomes Goetia's student.

* BadassNormal: She lacks a Crest and isn't skilled in magic compared to the rest of Goetia's students, but he notes that she's in physical peak condition for a woman around her age.
* CompetitionFreak: The reason she joined Goetia's class in the first place was because Byleth became his student and she saw this as a chance to challenge and prove that she can surpass Jeralt's daughter. [[DisappointedByTheMotive Goetia finds himself disappointed in her motives because she joined to compete against Byleth rather than wanting to better herself]].

The youngest student in the Academy and a magical prodigy. Despite her age and gift in magic, she is a hard-worker and dislikes being looked down upon as a child. * TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest student enrolled at the academy. Bringing it up or treating her as a kid as a result however, [[BerserkButton is likely to set her off.]]
* BadassAdorable: A cute young girl who so happens to be a powerful and talented mage.
* BerserkButton: Being treated as a child is this to her.
* ChildMage: The youngest student who is a mage and becomes Goetia's first student.
* ChildProdigy: Her magical abilities are described to be this, to the point Goetia is amazed to find one to be impressive by Fodlan's standards.
* DontYouDarePityMe: She absolutely ''hates'' being looked down as weak and helpless. When recovering in the infirmary [[spoiler: from being nearly killed by Lonato]], she figures out that the bracelet Goetia gave to her earlier was in fact a Mystic Code to monitor her health and notify him when she's in danger. Thinking he did it because he didn't trust that she can protect herself, she snaps at him so hard that even he can't get a rebuttal in until she calms down to listen.
* MoralityPet: She's one of the few people that Goetia is attached to, and it is noted that despite him being treating his students fairly, he is shown to have a soft spot for her. [[spoiler: Her being gravely wounded by Lonato is enough for [[PapaWolf Goetia to break his vow as an observer and interfere in the battle]]]].
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:Alongside with Flayn, she learns of Goetia's true origins as a demon and his connections with Sitri after the latter confesses to them in amidst a breakdown in Chapter 65]].
* SquishyWizard: She may be a powerful spellcaster, but she's still a young girl who isn't suited for close combat. [[spoiler: She almost got killed by Lonato when he manages to dodge her spells and got close enough to stab her]].
* SweetTooth: She loves sweets and desserts, as much as she tries to hide it. She even invited Goetia to have some cake with her [[spoiler: after recovering from her near-death experience]], [[PetTheDog which the demon accepts]].
* WhatTheHellHero: She ''absolutely'' gives an earful to Claude after his insensitive questions causes Goetia to angrily lash out at him, calling her leader out for his lack of boundaries towards other people's personal life.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's absolutely ''terrified'' of ghosts. She mistaken Goetia as a ghost the first time they met and when he went to quietly get her help in the Cindered Shadows arc and was flinging spells left and right at the Wraiths during the arc out of panic.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Her dual Crests drastically shorten her lifespan as the result of being unnaturally implanted. [[spoiler: Goetia becomes conflicted on whether he should help her or not in this, no part because it reminds him of Mash's situation]].
* YouRemindMeOfX: Part of the reason for Goetia's growing fondness towards her is because she reminds him of Mash Kyrielight, despite both girls being complete opposites. [[spoiler:The reminder becomes painful when Goetia discovers the full extent of her [[YourDaysAreNumbered condition]]]].

The current Archbishop of the Church of Seiros. Her kind and motherly disposition hides a strict and severe attitude towards her enemies. To show her gratitude for them saving the House Leaders, she offers Byleth and Goetia job positions in the Monastery as a professor and an assistant librarian respectively. Though it soon becomes clear that Rhea has some ulterior motive for hiring them.

* BreakTheHaughty: The proud and confident Archbishop secludes herself in her quarters, moping from shame and guilt after being confronted over the revelation that her plan to revive Sothis has failed along with the resulting fallout from her close allies and her own mother. Even a visiting Goetia remarks that he can't find any amusement if he decides to mock her failures in her depressed state.

** While in the middle of Goetia's [[GetAHoldOfYourSelfMan pep]]-[[BrutalHonesty talk]], she again tries to justify that Sothis will do better in fixing the neglection of the Church's current state which she help created, Goetia immediately tears it down and even points out that the BlueAndOrangeMorality of a Goddess will lead to very radical changes that will be different from the Church's policy.
* HeelRealization: Has a brief one after overhearing Goetia's angry [[LastOfHisKind rant]] where she realizes that Goetia's reasons for staying in Fodlan and the Monastery is not of malicious intentions but rather because he is condemned to wander the world aimlessly after his kin are killed.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: While he condemns Rhea's actions and experimentation to revive Sothis, he is conflicted regarding his current stance on Rhea afterwards because of realizing that the remaining Nabateans along with him abandoned her after defeating Nemesis.

* WorfHaveTheFlu: Goetia and Rhea's intervention prevented Sitri from sacrificing Byleth and the Ashen Wolves to the Chalice of Beginnings, forcing it to absorb Sitri's corpse and the chalice. Goetia notes that had Sitri successfully conducted the ritual, the Demon God would have already incinerate the Monastery when it start its rampage.
