* {{Irony}}: In desperation against the unstoppable [[ThePlague Pale Virus]] pandemic, Mankind crossed the GodzillaThreshold by turning to the [[BlobMonster latex monsters]] for salvation. What do these creatures view humans as? ''[[HumanityIsInfectious A infection]]'' - one that needs to stop existing immediately and become a part of the bigger whole.

* CrystallineCreature: Like all dark-latex monsters, the crystal core is her nucleus. If Colin makes enough of a disturbance in the [[WombLevel dark-latex ecosystem]], her large gem manifests [[DimensionalTraveler above a portal]]. The goo will rise up to form the body, and the gem makes up her crystalline face and antlers, spreading to her abdomen. Colin will become her subordinate, [[GemTissue with his own smaller gem]], if he allows himself to get "transfurred".

* MegaMicrobes: The creature and the macrophages are several magnitudes of mass and length bigger than their real-life counterpart pathogen, Wendigo is imposing, standing at [[GiantWoman half the height of Hyena]], and her minions having the same mass as Colin each, as they stretch and deform around him when absorbing him.
* {{Mutants}}: There is a low chance that once captured by one of Wendigo's "macrophages", the crystal core is unable after several attempts to fuse with his main body. A benign mutation occurs. Colin 'transfurs' into a light-latex creature. Revealing the scientists merely discovered [[UnstableGeneticCode this quirk]] of the latex monsters - they didn't create these variant creatures in the ill-fated "Genetic Project". The NonStandardGameOver screen shows the former-human revelling in his new form, over where the light-latex beasts are forming, implying Wendigo [[GetOut kicked him out]].

* TheManyDeathsOfYou: The first of many ''many'' {{Non-Standard Game Over}}s the player will encounter in this NintendoHard game. If [[BlankStare you idle]] on the balcony overlooking the ruined city for just under one minute, it will appear and absorb you.

* CuriosityIsACrapshoot/DontTouchItYouIdiot: It only attacks Colin should he interact with the box it's hiding in.

%%* AmbiguousSituation: 'Transfurmation' works with a latex entity assimilating an organic host, normally resulting in a complete/near-complete DeathOfPersonality for humans. There are dark-latex wolf pup crystals found earlier, that split Colin's body up into five critters. His consciousness remaining [[WindowsOfTheSoul in one of them]]. Yet its not clear ''what happened'' to the young man after this dark-latex monster is finished with him. Did his [[DoubleConsciousness consciousness split]] into two or three new creatures? Is the [[IAmWhatIAm third apathetic-looking wolf]] the virus? Or are the trio [[SelfDuplication the virus]] leaving Colin DeaderThanDead? The game [[UncertainDoom doesn't explain]].
%%* ChestBurster: Or ''back burster''. Horrifyingly Colin's withered corpse slumps on the testing room floor, after the virus replicates itself inside of him, and erupts out. His remains then melt away into dark-latex goo.

%%* DoubleConsciousness: An AmbiguousSituation. It appears Colin's identity was split into at least two Crystal wolf monsters emerging from his dead body, and [[WhatHaveIBecome both are shocked]]. The virus's own mind becoming the third monster, [[IAmWhatIAm dispassionate]] about the whole ordeal.

%%* WhatHaveIBecome: Once the bacteriophage has infected Colin as its host, two of the three crystal wolves that burst out are shocked at their new male and female 'transfurred' bodies. The third ([[AmbiguousSituation possibly the virus]]) accepts this fate, flexing his hand, looking on [[IAmWhatIAm with disinterest]].

* FailedASpotCheck: Zigzags into ArtificialStupidity. They don't seem to understand that a LivingStatue ''trying to sneak up'' on prey, [[CantMoveWhileBeingWatched shouldn't keep moving]]. Yet both of them slowly pursue after Colin in broad daylight, while [[BadVibrations making a stomping racket]], averting any chance they could be MistakenForGranite. The beasts take the most-direct path to catch the human, and can get stuck on the balcony tree, or hop impotently, [[RoofHopping unable to follow the escaping man]] down the ladder. Both are playing by different rules instead [[NobodyHereButUsStatues of teaming up in disguise]], the male Gargoyle imitates a [[{{Sculptures}} a statue]] instead of followin the rules of Chess which all the other Gargoyles do.

* TheManyDeathsOfYou: The first of many ''many'' [[NonStandardGameOver Non Standard Game Overs]] the player will encounter in this NintendoHard game. If [[BlankStare you idle]] on the balcony overlooking the ruined city for just under one minute, it will appear and absorb you.
* PredationIsNatural: All you are to this prowling creature, ''is prey''. It's licking its lips at the prospect of mercilessly consuming you.

* DontTouchItYouIdiot: It only attacks Colin should he interact with the box it's hiding in.

* ObviousRulePatch: They're there to prevent Colin {{Backtracking}} from Puro's home to the Library once the player has access to the Vents.

* InsideAWall: The little goo has made its home in the ventilation shafts. Its an inaccessible area that the player can see, but cannot get to.

* SchmuckBait: Even though the player ventures into this room because their CuriosityIsACrapshoot, the first adorable caged animal doesn't 'transfur' you straightaway and merely [[CuddleBug embraces and licks you]] (first time). Naturally you'd think it's safe to go poking round the other [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter Ridiculously Cute Critter's]] cages, only to find out how ''sorely mistaken'' that notion is. Once these two have you, ''[[TheAssimilator they will never let you go]]''.

* ObviousRulePatch: It's there to prevent Colin from taking the service lift directly down to the generator room, and thereby bypassing the Behemoth, decontamination chambers, and the majority of the Aquatic area.

* CuriosityIsACrapshoot: It can only appear to sneak up on Colin should he inspect a blocked-off inaccessible passageway three times, otherwise it's easy to avoid.

* AdoptTheFood: A digested-Colin tries to force his way out of its belly after being 'transfurred'. The beast obliges, molding him into its 'little brother' who falls onto the floor. The Big Otter is most pleased with it's hunger sated and the outcome.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: In the original game, different species of latex monsters generally keep to their own kind (out of AnimalJingoism). In the Special remake, the squid pups and sharks have learned to coexist side-by-side. Dr. K studying them learns any scrimmages they have are more playful in nature, than outright hostile battles for territory.

* VillainsOutShopping: The squid dog and one of the sharks are both shown harmlessly fishing for food, and both of them make no attempt to attack Colin.

* OurGargoylesRock: The mimic-type monsters with HiddenEyes are pretending to be gargoyles fixed upon their DramaticHighPerching. But a savvy person would know a modern building housing the Genetic Project wouldn't have those kind of {{Sculptures}} decorating its exterior. Gargoyles are meant to ward off evil away from the structures they protect, but like all latex goo are only interested in assimilating Colin.

* KarmicDeath: You only get this 'transfurmation' if you don't allow Puro to carry you to safety. Turned into a puppy, Fennec Fox now carries you away as its pet.

* DontTouchItYouIdiot: Its harmless and dormant when it first materializes and leviates on the dark-latex goo floor. Colin can push the bacteriophage around, but if shoved beyond the flooded area it lands on the testing floor room, and will awaken. You [[DontWakeTheSleeper do not want to wake]] this thing up.

!!Mother Yeen's Pet Snake and Lizard

A variegated-latex snake and lizard found in Mother Yeen's den, that she keeps as pets for her children. They only appear after defeating her in the ''Special Edition''.

* DontTouchItYouIdiot: Both of them hang harmlessly from small trees in the corner of Mother Yeen's room, and only transfur Colin should he walk into them.

* GorgeousGorgon: Colin will get engulfed by a latex snake that lands on him, in Mother Yeen's den if he carelessly pokes around the trees. They both transfur into a female Gorgon-like creature with many snakes for hair.

A [[ThePrankster prankster]] variegated-latex skunk found lurking in the Vents near Mother Yeen's den, and just before the Aquatic Area in the ''Special Edition''.

* {{Jerkass}}: The door to Mother Yeen's den slams behind you, preventing retreat because this latex monster is deliberately holding it shut all while he laughs at your misfortune, forcing Colin to face Mother Yeen in a RushBoss battle.
* ObviousRulePatch: It appears in the Mother Yeen battle and holds the door shut so that Colin can't pull a ScrewThisImOuttaHere. The Skunk later prevents the player from venturing back to the Vents after making enough progress in the Aquatic area.
* OhCrap: When you defeat Mother Yeen, you might notice the skunk is aghast before it nervously retreats, allowing your exit.
* ThePrankster: Both of its appearances have it exploiting Colin's [[CuriosityIsACrapshoot curiosity]], by locking him in a room with [[MamaBear Mother Yeen]] and 'transfurring' him into a skunk.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After Colin manages to beat Mother Yeen in its first trap, it produces an 'OhCrap' look before bailing.

* {{Sizeshifter}}: The greedy goo beast stands in at about ten feet, but isn't as big as light-latex monsters such as Mother Yeen or Behemoth. The large Lutrinae cleverly found a work-around by shifting all of its mass to act as a giant-version of its own head to easily ingest prey. Once it digests the hapless human, it shifts back to its default form.
