The insistence on taking the light associations away is an overreaction by modern scholars to Victorians tendency to turn every god into a sun god. But nevertheless, even before that, Lugh was always tied with solar imagery. Both in writings and oral lore. For example, the Fomorians mistaking Lugh for the rising sun is a moment that permeates all versions of the battle of Mag Tuired.

TheAce of the gods, associated with the sun ([[ScienceMarchesOn according to Victorian archaeologists, anyways]]), fertility, and liberating Ireland from the monster Balor. Not much is known past that, but he ''did'' have a fling with his hot midwife when she helped his wife give birth safely--the midwife in turn had Cuchulainn, Ireland's greatest hero, and the rest is (alleged) history.

* GodOfLight: Historically was understood to be a sun god due to his name's etymology (controversially related to other Indo-European words for "light" or "white"). He is however now thought to be associated with lightning flashes.

Also spelled Nodons (reconstructed from the old Nodenti or Nodonti), he was a healing god worshipped by the ancient Celts. Although no physical depiction of him has survived, votive plaques found in a shrine at Lydney Park (Gloucester) indicate his connection with dogs, a beast associated with healing symbolism in antiquity. This deity is known in only one other location, in Cockersand Moss (Lancashire). The simularities have made him equated on most inscriptions with the Roman god Mars (as a healer rather than as a warrior) and likened to Silvanus (a hunting-god). Granted, he is more famous to a modern audience in the ''Literature/CthulhuMythos'' as one member of the Elder Gods alongside Bast and Hypnos. Given how little is know about him, this is a huge improvement.

* BaldHeadOfToughness: He's called "Conan the Bald" for a reason, and in fact, how he ''went'' bald ties into how tough he is. While the Fianna were fighting a dragon, Conan jumped down its throat and disemboweled it from the inside, before decapitating it. While he was inside the dragon, its stomach acid fell on Conan's head, burning it all off.
* JerkAss: His defining feature. It is said that he won't say anything nice if he can say something rude instead. He starts fights with little to no provocation, is always complaining, constantly questions Fionn's leadership and insists that he should be in charge instead, and is an unabashed braggart. Despite all this, his allies mostly laugh it off (when they don't [[HeadbuttingHeroes want to kick his ass]] ) because they know it's just how he is and that underneath all of that he's [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold a much better man than he lets on.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's an asshole, there's no doubt about that. But he is also brave, will never back down when his fellow warriors are on the line and is always the first to come to their aid. And even with his constant complaining, he is extremely loyal to Fionn.
