* BigManOnCampus: Becomes this as time goes on. While he starts out being bullied by the Tri-Alphas, kicked out of his dorm by Troy, and subsequently pranked by Tommy and Quinn, he quickly becomes a popular figure on campus, especially once he joins the [=DIKs=]. This is particularly pronounced by Season 3, at which point he:
** Becomes a de facto leader of Delta Iota Kappa, particularly after his efforts in [[spoiler:repairing the mansion and raising money for new windows]] in Season 2.

* ADayInTheLimelight: She's the playable character in the interlude. This even leads to an ArtShift: while the MC's dialogue choices are in a listed order on the right side of the screen in typical UsefulNotes/RenPy fashion, Zoey's are in the form of white bubbles near her head in her curvy handwriting.

* TokenMinority: He's the only black DIK member. Indeed, he's the only major black cast member; the only other named black characters are Brandi, one of the strippers at the Pink Rose, Stanley, the Pink Rose's bouncer, and Darius, a new tri-Alpha member.

* TheMourningAfter: Even nineteen years after her death, Neil has not yet gotten over Lynette, and Tremolo notes that he gets emotional on every birthday, which is why the latter is a BirthdayHater; while Neil obviously never blames him, Tremolo still feels like the reason for his father's sadness.

* AmbiguousSituation: Most of the mystery surrounding Isabella revolves around James. Where is James? Is he dead, or missing, or did he leave her? Does it have anything to do with the locked room in Bella's house? It is clear that Bella wishes for him to come back, to the point that she still wears her wedding ring for a large part of the game, but it is unclear whether this is due to her being in denial about his death or whether there is a possibility of him coming back.

** He's also this for Quinn. While Quinn is not beyond using blackmail and emotional manipulation to secure her criminal activities, Vinny proved to be far more violent and ruthless [[spoiler: not only threatning the MC with a handgun ForTheEvultz but also kidnapping Riona.]]

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The first words that come out of Steve's mouth are him calling the MC "fuckface".

* EarlyBirdCameo: Dwyane appeared for the first time in chapter 7 in the gym after seeing the main character having a little exchange of words against caleb. He appeared to advise him on how to hit the punching bag better and recommended him to use protection to avoid hurting his knuckles. In episode 10, he returns as a master and opponent in the brawler mini game.

* SmarterThanHeLooks: Jonah seems like a bit of a meathead, but Bret reveals that he plans to quit "Tattoos" to go to college, and he does indeed leave soon. He later is shown advising Zoey about potential career options after she graduates high school online.

* HeteronormativeCrusader: Learning of his daughter's relationship with Josy is the trigger for his abuse towards her, which is aimed at keeping them apart. The game hints that these are tied to his religious beliefs, but it is not currently explicit. Episode 10 reveals his motive to be a twisted, tragic version of IWantGrandkids: he has promised Helen that she will see her grandchildren before she dies, apparently unaware that gay people can have children.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: The ending of Episode 9, which shows the morning after the Halloween party, shows Heather with a bottle of water and her head in her hands. It initially just seems like a hangover, but Episode 10 shows how serious things have gotten when she doesn't show up at the [=DIKs=] mansion to help with cleanup, even when every other HOT sister does, and she apologizes to the MC for asking him. Nick reveals the reason during the Thanksgiving party: after seeing Tommy take Christine to his room for sex without even asking her, she gets extremely agitated, enough to ask the MC whether she can perform oral sex, something which she apologizes for in the yoga class in Episode 10; when the MC brushes it off saying nothing happened, she has a guilty look on her face. Turns out that [[spoiler:she confided her frustrations in Nick, who told her about his longtime crush on her, and the two had sex. While they decided to keep it a secret, it is clear that Heather is deeply remorseful about it, and the end of the episode has her tell Tommy.]]

* TeamMom: Is this to her sorority, trying to get to know each girl personally, though this trait is much more prominent only in Season 2.

* FriendsWithBenefits: Seems to be developing this with the MC. After the MC's help with her stalker and his attempts to cheer her up during the Halloween party; she sees him as a good friend. There are hints that she has at least considered a more serious relationship; notably, if the MC is in a committed relationship by "Vixens", Rio admits that she isn't praying for his relationship to last.
* GamerChick: Episode 10 reveals she is an avid videogamer and even invites MC to spend the day with her at the arcade.

* OperationJealousy: If an uncommitted Tremolo is on good terms with her and makes out with her in Episode 9, she starts flirting with other [=DIKs=] while staring at him in Episode 10, first Jamie while cleaning the mansion and then Leon when he's hanging out in the mansion before the date with Nicole. He catches on fairly quickly, and can ask her to
* ProperlyParanoid: Her fears of being observed are justified. [[spoiler: She has been stalked by the DIK pledge that she caused to fail the Cumpetition and it's implied that someone else is watching her as well.]]. [[spoiler: Her fears end up sadly even more justified in episode 10 wherein she is forcibly abducted by Vinny and an accomplice]]

This leads her to reach breaking point in Episode 9, where she, having seen Tommy take Christine to his room to have sex, resolves that she is entitled to screw other people too; if the MC is unattached at this point, she may decide to perform oral sex on him.[[spoiler: It is revealed that Heather cheated on Tommy with Nick at the Halloween Party in Episode 9. She deeply regrets it afterwards.]]

* AmicableExes: She seems to harbour no ill feelings for Luke, and they have few problems raising Marvin together; she says that while they tried their best, they realized that they were better off without each other.

* SingleMomStripper: An early Swyper conversation has her mention that she has to pick up her son from school; indeed, as her Episode 10 date reveals, providing for Marvin was the primary reason she went into the business after she broke up with Luke, given her non-existent relationship with her parents.

* StacysMom: Is old enough to have a school-age child, and yet is very popular among the college-aged [=DIKs=], barring perhaps Derek. Downplayed, though; she is only 30.

* TheBeard: In Episode 10, if the MC has not committed to Maya and Josy, then he plans to act as Maya's boyfriend when invited to her house for Thanksgiving (while the same events also occur if has committed to them, in that scenario he really is her boyfriend—the only pretention is that he is her only partner).

* BigManOnCampus: He can potentially become this. He starts the story being on the receiving end of bullying, but earns respects as he succeeds in class, befriending the DIK and romancing several girls.

* FailedASpotCheck: Doesn't seem to know a lot about his friends and love interests, even when it should be fairly obvious given their reputation. He doesn't realize that [[spoiler:Rusty is a Burgmeister and Jill is a Royce, both scions of among the most famous and wealthy families in town who his college is literally named after]] till he is told outright by them in "When Worlds Collide" (for the former) and Isabella lets it slip in "[=HOTheaded=]" (for the latter). He also doesn't realize that [[spoiler:Sage is Jade and Stephen Burke's adopted daughter]] till he visits their house at the end of "Crossroads". This can be justified for the final two cases, as both these people actively try to hide these details from him: [[spoiler:Jill because she is glad to be able to get to know someone who doesn't have the ulterior motives of seeking her family's fame and wealth, and Sage because she is fiercely independent and doesn't want to throw her family name around]]; however, it doesn't explain the first case, especially since Isabella notes that [[spoiler:Rusty has been bragging about his family name non-stop since he joined B&R.]]

* GirlsLikeMusicians: Plays the guitar (for bonus points, is self-taught) and is very attractive to several girls on campus. This shows up most prominently with Sage, who asks you for guitar lessons, and Jill, who is also a fellow musician (a pianist) [[spoiler:and whose recital can be saved by the player's intervention.]]

* LoversLedge: In episode 2, [[spoiler:he and Josy start to have sex when her parents suddently came back earlier than expected. He is pushed out the window completely naked. Thankfully, unlike the last time he was forced outside au naturel, Josy tosses him his stuff.]]

* BelligerentSexualTension: With the main character. [[spoiler:potentially resolved in Episode 10.]]

** TheBusCameBack: [[spoiler:Cathy shows up again in Episode 10, and an unattached MC who seduced her in Episode 5 can have sex with her.]]

His wife deeply resented him for being a workaholic and he admits having adopted Sage and Tybalt because Jade desparately wanted to have children after learning she's infertile. Unfortunately no matter how hard he tried he has never been able to connect with them and really see them as his own children. It's also revealed that, [[FreudianExcuse when younger, he was never able to properly speak about his feelings with his own father]] mainly because the latter expected him to be strong, [[TheChainOfHarm mirroring his own relationship with Sage]].
* DeadSparks: By the time the game begins, Jade and Stephen's marriage is functionally over; the two only stay together for the sake of their children. Despite their (fairly half-hearted) attempts at trying to bring some spice back into their love life (most notably with Isabella), they seemingly feel little for each other anymore. Stephen routinely cheats on her with students, including [[spoiler:girls from the restaurant]], and Jade spends most of Season 1 trying to seduce the MC. Unsurprisingly, Stephen files for divorce in Episode 10, despite Jade promising that she will do her best to take everything he has.

* AbusiveParents: His homophobia leads him to lash out when he finds out about Maya's relationship with Josy, exploiting her trust in him to [[spoiler:cosign a loan with her while taking complete control of the money so that he can hold her college admission over her head to make her stop seeing Josy. Episode 10 also reveales that he is physically abusive towards Maya, as shown when he grabs her arm so hard .]]

* FriendsWithBenefits: The nature of her relationship with the MC before she left, for the most part, with the two being essentially best friends for whom sex is just one kind of fun activity. Both Zoey and the MC seemed to realise that they had deeper feelings for each other when she is leaving, with both trying to deal with it in different ways; Zoey, for her part, cut off contact with him for a while because she [[spoiler:took Bret's advice of minimizing contact with him to help him move on to heart; after having advice, though well-intentioned, lead to a lot of conflict when Emma's feelings manifested as misplaced jealousy of Zoey, as well as realising that she missed both home and the MC (along with losing her desire to become a surfer), she decided to return home.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Episode 10 reveals that he deeply loves his wife Helen, having taken care of her as she struggled with her rheumatoid arthritis.

* TroubledAbuser: Episode 10 puts much greater focus on Patrick, particularly with its prologue focusing entirely on his family troubles since Helen is diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and vascular dementia. Years of taking care of both his worsening wife and his children have taken their toll on him, and he seems to have clearly turned to religion as a coping mechanism.

* DefrostingIceQueen: Heather in her early appearances does often come off as standoffish to the MC (trying to talk to her for the first time even has her dismissively brush him off saying that she doesn't talk to maggots), barely talking to him and often being very curt when she does. However, she does get more friendly with him as time goes by, particularly if, in the [=HOTs=] party in Episode 7, he tells her about [[spoiler:Tommy having had sex with another girl without asking her]] and then mixes her a drink with absinthe.

* INeedAFreakingDrink: If you tell Heather that [[spoiler:Tommy is "plus three" (i.e., that he has slept with three girls without informing her)]] during the [=HOTs=] party in Episode 7, she asks for something to "numb [herself]", by which she means [[spoiler:any drink with ''absinthe'']]. Giving her her drink has her instantly down her glass before instantly asking for another over the MC's doubts, before quickly downing ''that'' glass as well and asking for a third.

* ManlyTears: In Episode 10 [[spoiler: He broke downs in tear after admitting to the MC how much he's affected by his dysfunctional family. ]]

* InLoveWithLove: It is only heavily implied, but is perhaps Josy's most central character trait; notably, it shows up much more clearly if you ''aren't'' in a relationship with her. Josy states that she hates the loneliness of not being in a relationship, which is why she hasn't broken up even though she is clearly drawn to the MC. [[spoiler:This is primarily because she is being kept apart from her partner, Maya, due to the latter's financial circumstances and abuse; Josy's seeming need for intimacy (and not just the physical kind) drives her towards the MC after their time working together. * SkewedPriorities: During their conversation in the mall in Episode 3, the MC tells Derek about the rollercoaster of events that have occurred since they last met: Chad attacking him near the Preps' mansion and the subsequent disciplinary hearing, where Chad is suspended from all fraternity activities, and where Jade very deliberately flashes the MC [[BasicInstinctLegsCrossingParody Catherine Tremell-style]]. Derek's first reaction to these events does not concern the potential reasons for why Chad may have attacked Tremolo, or the potential consequences of his suspension; to even Tremolo's astonishment, it is "Was it hairy?"

* HisOwnWorstEnemy: She's too stubborn to recognize her mistakes and often acts on impulse. By never dropping her arrogant and proud persona, Quinn subconsciously pushes everyone away. She saw Tommy as a close friend but still pushed on his buttons, lied to him and ruined his trust. She's Sage's best friend but she still plots behind her back. She values Riona as her right hand and probably friend but still acts abusive and manipulative. Deep down, it's implied that Quinn knows she's doing a bad job as a drug dealer and isn't even happy running a prostitution circle. Unfortunately, she doesn't know how to change her ways and is too proud to ask for help.

* HeroesWantRedheads: Besides his relationship with Sage, he can also express attraction to Cathy.
