* PunnyName: Edward Nygma. Really, what are the odds? The writers tried to give him the more normal "Edward Nashton" for a while. It didn't stick, so it was changed into Nashton being his birth name, from his father, which would explain why he changed it.
* MyRealDaddy: Creator/BillFinger and Creator/DickSprang may have created Riddler, but Creator/FrankGorshin's portrayal of him on the 1960s Batman TV show is what made him a major member of Batman's RoguesGallery for years to come. Some portrayals of him have dialed back the camp, but without Gorshin's manic popularity, there would be no Riddler today. He was also the one who designed the character's now-iconic "green suit and bowler hat" look, because he hated wearing the original spandex outfit.

* PintsizedPowerhouse: While Riddler's strength is rarely emphasized in stories, he does display this as a young lad in boarding school in the One Bad Day special when his teacher, Professor Yellin confronts him over Edward's cheating. Desperate as he was due to his father beating him over not getting a perfect score, Edward snaps and beats Professor Yellin to death with his bare hands. Not only was Yellin an older man than a young boarding school Edward, he was also a larger man than him as well and apparently couldn't stop his smaller, skinnier student from killing him with his bare hands.
