* AdaptationalFriendship: She's more explicitly close to several of Monarch's other top brass whom she was never explicitly to be anything more than colleagues to in the [=MonsterVerse=], namely Drs. Ilene Chen and Rick Stanton, Sam Coleman, and Colonel Diane Foster.

* FirstEpisodeResurrection: The fic's opening establishes that after Ghidorah's middle head ate Vivienne during the events of ''King of the Monsters'', the left head revived her with her mind intact, in a womb inside his neck, and he's been regenerating and transforming her inside his severed head so the two of them can form TwoBeingsOneBody as a Titan.

* CreepyGood: He's formerly one of ''[[DraconicArchetype Ghidorah]]'s'' three minds, and his voice sounds like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2p2XI5Mg50 the dragon in these clips]] (InUniverse, San's voice notably sends shivers down the spines of human characters when they're first hearing it). Despite this, San's HeelFaceTurn is genuine, he's a sweetheart to his new sister who he means nothing but the best for, and he'll tolerate if not befriend you so long as you don't pose a threat and don't get on his bad side.

* YouRemindMeOfX: Downplayed. Vivienne thinks to herself that Rodan's behaviour reminds her of a high school ex-boyfriend, in Chapter 13.
* YouShouldHaveDiedInstead: She receives a variation. Ren briefly admits among other things in Chapter 14 that he wishes it was Serizawa instead of her who came BackFromTheDead.

* IHaveNoSon: The brother variation. From San's P.O.V., he ''technically'' stopped being brothers with Ghidorah's other two heads the moment his own head was severed, due to Ghidorah's definition of siblings being oriented around MultipleHeadCase; but more than that, as San's {{character development}} progresses, he pointedly refers to Ichi and Ni less frequently as "Eldest" and "Elder Brother", and more frequently as "the middle" and "the right head".

* MergingMistake: When San fuses himself to Vivienne, their first hybridized form ends up plagued by crippling, painful BodyHorror in addition to {{inverted}} {{power incontinence}}. According to [[https://archiveofourown.org/comments/247897682 Word]] [[https://hrodvitnon.tumblr.com/post/692341609101148160 of God]], this is due to a combination of San not knowing that the hybridization needed a longer gestation period and San not knowing enough about human biology.

** Later, she tears up over the fact that she made a promise to her mother that she'd stay safe, before [[SwallowedWhole Antarctica happened]].

* SilenceOfSadness: Mariko notes that she, severely traumatized by what's happened to her and her current situation, is usually very quiet and doesn't speak while she and San are held captive by Jonah's mercenaries. See the other folders for more examples.

In this fic, the expansion on San's and Ghidorah's characterization and backstory gives San even more sympathetic traits and redeeming qualities, and the abuse he suffers is ''not'' PlayedForLaughs in this version. He's been under constant physical and verbal abuse from his brother heads whilst having literally nobody else for ''billions'' of years, which has in turn made him dependent, severely love-starved, and [[ItsAllMyFault prone to self-blame and self-loathing]]; [[spoiler:to say nothing of what he went through before all that with [[AbusivePrecursors the Makers]]]]. San also truly likes and cares for Vivienne, taking his new responsibility as her brother head to heart.

* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: Originally, he was the TokenGoodTeammate head of an OmnicidalManiac which went out of its way to kill humans and sought to destroy all life on Earth as we know it, he was considered the Youngest Brother, and he was abused by his siblings. After merging with Vivienne, San is now part of a hero-aligned Titan that defends the Earth and goes even more out of its way to minimize human casualties than even ''Mothra'' would, but San also acts as said Titan's more unforgiving and pragmatic half; he's now the elder sibling according to himself (and he ''is'' originally billions of years older than Vivienne), and his new sibling is mutually-supportive to him.

* {{Lobotomy}}: Horrifically, the ''Empty Fullness'' one-shot "Damnatio Memoriae" reveals he was effectively subjected to one in the distant past billions of years ago. [[spoiler:Specifically, it's revealed that the Makers cut directly into his brain to permanently make him hardwired to notice little details that Ghidorah's other two heads might miss, so that he would act as Ghidorah's sentry head. A temporary side-effect was that San's communication became [[SpeechImpediment distinctly slowed and slurred]] after the surgery, although he fully recovered it after a time]].

** ''Abraxas: Empty Fullness'' "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/46831738/chapters/122322187 Damnatio Memoriae]]": {{Implied}} when Ghidorah is in the process of wiping out all visible life on a sapient world for the first time. The left head's dialogue consists of him musing how there'll be no more of anything for the lifeforms they're exterminating, and at the end of it; he passes comment on how there's "so much dust" everywhere and how the planet's natives were "crying and screaming" as they died; before his observations on their destruction take on a more cynical and nihilistic tone.

** [[spoiler:Ghidorah's StartOfDarkness story in "Damnatio Memoriae" reveals that sleep deprivation was among the multiple agonies that San and his brothers endured during their captivity by the Makers, due to [[TerribleTicking the Old Noise]] screaming in their heads and then later due to [[UsedToBeASweetKid the other two heads]] being [[PlaguedByNightmares plagued by trauma-induced nightmares]].

* ItIsDehumanizing: He's on the receiving end at times. Notably, Madison in Chapter 11 begins contemplating San as a "he/him" instead of an "it" when she observes San's protectiveness of Vivienne. [[spoiler:Ghidorah and [=MaNi=]/Elder Brother]] notably consider San an "it" due to Ghidorah's {{Dehumanization}} of its heads' "shed skins".

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Upon his HeelRealization, he comes to deeply regret what he and his brothers have done to Vivienne. He apparently still carries remorse after Vivienne has forgiven him.
