** The fact that [[spoiler:[[CodeGeass [[spoiler:[[Anime/CodeGeass Euphemia li Britannia]] turns out NotQuiteDead]] in the "Trust Zero" Route, but [[spoiler:[[TengenToppaGurrenLagann [[spoiler:[[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Kamina]] and [[MobileSuitGundam00 [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Lockon "Neil Dylandy" Stratos]] stay dead]] annoyed some players. To be fair, [[spoiler:Euphemia being alive]] has less negative impact to the overall plot (for ''Saisei-hen'' and ''CodeGeass'') ''Anime/CodeGeass'') than having [[spoiler:Kamina and Neil]] come back would.
* ''Third Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-hen''
** ''Jigoku-hen'' removes The removal of certain series like ''EurekaSeven'', ''OvermanKingGainer'', ''Anime/EurekaSeven'', ''Anime/OvermanKingGainer'', ''Anime/AfterWarGundamX'' and ''Anime/TurnAGundam'' in favor of new series; like ''Hakai-hen'', it is but part ONE of the ''Third Super Robot Wars Z'', making these complaints feel redundant.
*** ** Upon the reveal of screenshots for ''Jigoku-hen'', screenshots, certain players were upset Banpresto wasn't taking full advantage of the PlayStation3 and PlaystationVita by going the 3D route for maps, instead opting back for the heads-down display as the ''Second Z'' did. Grumblings of LazyArtist were abound, since both systems have the hardware and power to do it, especially when the ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Second Super Robot Wars Original Generation]]'' could.
*** ** The second promotional trailer revealed the plot of ''MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack'' ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack'' is happening, which irked some players, particularly since [[MobileSuitZetaGundam [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Quattro Bagina]] said he wouldn't let it happen. Not only does this make [[MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Char Aznable]] a {{Hypocrite}} and liar, {{Colony Drop}}ping Axis has been done too many times in previous [=SRWs=], especially when [[MobileSuitGundamUnicorn [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn another character who looks like Char (Full Frontal)]] could be the one to do it in place of the man himself, a theory most players felt positive about when ''Jigoku-hen'' the game was announced. [[spoiler:Turns into {{Superdickery}} when Full Frontal ''is'' the one performing the drop, whereas Char is working behind the scenes to prevent it, going so far as to pull a XanatosGambit in case the ColonyDrop occurs]].
** With ''Jigoku-hen'' When it was released, players weren't pleased to discover some attack animations have taken a step back against [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLVdkgwbHdc previous]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aopzdml43n8 titles]], especially when new animations are [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsDKOj6n-Os given better treatment]]. While this base is always broke regarding Banpresto's bias towards different titles (particularly debuts), ''Jigoku-hen'' seems to be the worst yet.
*** ** The plot for ''Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer'' is not concluded in ''Jigoku-hen'', pulling another ''Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann'' delay via ''Hakai-hen''. This is especially bad when comparing with its debut in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsUX'', where their machines have a healthy amount of weapons available ''even before'' the final battle against the [[Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer ELS]] (for that matter, just ask anyone who's played ''UX'' about the [[Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer Raphael Gundam and the Brave]]).
*** ** In addition, ''Jigoku-hen'' the game [[WhatCouldHaveBeen cut a lot of content]] made from the ''Second Z'' duology, such as visual effects and {{Combination Attack}}s, when they're perfectly adaptable for this game and hardware (as seen for certain units from returning series like ''Code Geass''). Cue fan outcry of LazyArtist and accusations of Banpresto being too concerned about their financial budget, leading to this occurring.
* ''Third Super Robot Wars Z: Tengoku-hen''
** With the reveal of ''Tengoku-hen'', its reveal, fan rage intensified on the Internet when they found out ''Anime/SpaceWarriorBaldios'', ''Anime/GodSigma'', ''King Gainer'', ''Anime/{{Xabungle}}'', ''Anime/{{Gravion}}'', ''Anime/{{Dancougar}}'', and ''Eureka Seven'' are no longer part of the roster, particularly the latter, as its plot had the most impact in the first two ''Z'' installments. *** Since ''Tengoku-hen'' is the final ''Z'' installment, the plot of ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'' potentially ending off as a {{Cliffhanger}} via ''3.0: You Can (Not) Redo'' or using something entirely new (a la ''Gurren Lagann'' in ''Saisei-hen'') isn't sitting well with some people, especially when "4.0" is still in production.
** Now that ''Tengoku-hen'' has released, the divide of whether the game is worthy of a saga-ending installment like ''Alpha 3'' or not.
*** The lack of {{Combination Attack}}s, as many players are upset over the absence of obvious choices, such as "Triple Inazuma Kick" between the ''Anime/{{Gunbuster}}'' and ''Anime/{{Diebuster}}'' casts being the primary one, "Final Dynamic Special" from the God Scrander-equipped Mazinger Z and [[Anime/GetterRobo Shin Getter]], and anything from the Universal Century characters, particularly ''Char's Counterattack'' and ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn''.
*** Multiple characters being DemotedToExtra as part of another character's attacks isn't getting received very well, particularly for characters who were already shafted out of playable roles in ''Jigoku-hen''.

* Frankly, any new ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' games will elicit this reaction from the fan base whether it's about how Banpresto was able to make cross over plot work out, the changes in game play, [[ConsoleWars which system should the game be in]], which unit could easily [[GameBreaker/SuperRobotWars break the game]] the most, and so on and so forth.

* Some fans didn't take the ''Original Generation'' concept well and think of it as stupid, because "SRW should only be made up of licensed shows".
* Some dislike it due to the "bland characters", at least until some of the dislikers were won over by [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Sanger Zonvolt]] establishing his MemeticBadass status, among others.
* To some, the ''[[Characters/MasouKishin Masou Kishin]]'' cast members, aside from mainstays [[Characters/MasouKishin Masaki Andoh, Lune Zoldark]] and Shu. The majority of players were very glad with them being in the ''Second Original Generation''. However, there is a camp that [[NeverLiveItDown won't let it down regarding]] their previous [[CrutchCharacter lackluster performance]] in ''Alpha Gaiden'' (considering ''Alpha'' is probably the most known licensed [=SRW=] to them) and consider them useless or a waste of space.

Even though the franchise offers a unique MassivelyMultiplayerCrossover experience via HumongousMecha, that doesn't necessarily mean its fans don't have divided opinions over what occurs in each installment.

* ''Hakai-hen'' suffered a lot of this. While some found the cast list to be the best thing ever, others hate it for removing the "TRI-Battle System" from ''Z'', having only one protagonist, a lack of {{Secret Character}}s and the inability to save certain characters who players want to survive throughout the course of the series.
** Much of the complaints were rooted in hardware issues, as a UMD can only hold so much data. The fact the ''Second Super Robot Wars Z'' was split into two parts resulted in certain things being wound up on the cutting room floor.
** People were rejoicing that ''[[{{Gigantor}} Tetsujin #28]]'', essentially the [[UrExample great grandfather of]] HumongousMecha, is at long last showing up in [=SRW=], only it's the 1980s remake and not the original, which has some people happy ''Tetsujin #28'' is showing up at all, some wishing it was the original, and some happy it's that version.
** The arrangements for some of the songs in ''Hakai-hen'' had fans either cheering (such as "[[ShinMazinger Kanjite Knight]]" and "[[GetterRobo HEATS]]"), or outright wanting to murder the composer in cold blood, with "[[Anime/DancougarNova Tori no Uta]]" being the largest offender. It wouldn't be that big of an issue had not the same track been used in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsL'', giving fans something to compare.
*** Also, fans were upset certain songs were NOT in the game, such as "Yuusou" (the theme of the "Stoner Sunshine" event from ''[[GetterRobo Getter Robo Armageddon]]'') as well as "New Frontier" and "Angel Voice" from ''[[{{Macross 7}} Macross Dynamite 7]]''.
*** Not just music: let fans watch and compare the animations of the ''Anime/DancougarNova'' in ''L'' and the ''Second Z''. People ''will'' argue which one is better (recall ''L'' is on the NintendoDS while the ''Second Z'' is on the PlayStationPortable). Same thing can be applied to the ''MacrossFrontier'' animations.
*** The use of synth violins ("[[MacrossFrontier Triangular]]" and "[[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Hakanaku mo Towa no Kanashi]]" the biggest examples); in all fairness, this is a near universally hated thing when it comes to [=SRW=] music.
** The plot of [[spoiler:''TengenToppaGurrenLagann'']] doesn't end in ''Saisei-hen'', and [[spoiler:the [[TengenToppaGurrenLagann Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann]]]] isn't playable, despite the [[spoiler:[[TengenToppaGurrenLagann Cathedral Lazengann]]]] appearing. While it's an obvious setup for a SequelHook, this annoyed certain players.
*** Technically it ''has'' ended[[note]]Banpresto made an original [[spoiler:"Anti-Gurren Lagann" piloted by the Anti-Spiral]][[/note]], so they can still continue it into ''Jigoku-hen''[[note]]That said, [[spoiler:the Anti-Spiral simply up and leaves]], stating ZEXIS will live a little longer[[/note]].
