The council is engaging in unconscious self-deception and rationalization rather than deliberate lying. Shepherd and two companions were the only ones who spoke to Sovereign itself, and to everyone else it seems believable that Sovereign was just a special giant Geth construct rather than a member of a vast fleet of sapient dreadnoughts who are coming to destroy the universe. So it’s technically neither blatant nor a lie.

** The Council's adamant refusal to acknowledge the existence of the Reapers.

* ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'' indulges in this with Mama Cucco. Should you fail to protect Cucco Chick until it can reach her, she goes into a berserk frenzy and the game says she is "attacking everyone". Well... she will attack everyone except the enemies, captains, and grunts, AKA she makes a beeline for ''you'' and will not let up.

* ''Franchise/AceAttorney'' has a few examples where the a witness will tell a blatant lie. These are normally few and far between however, especially as the games go on, as most of the lies are actual well spun, and are only broken apart due to a piece of evidence that the protagonist happens to have found on the off change, and/or just reply on some logical and clever thinking.

minor edit: Lords of The Realm 2 typo

* In ''VideoGame/LordsOfTheRealm2'', the Bishop has a tendency to do this, such as telling you his army is in your lands on a purely fact-finding mission. Then said army lays siege your castle.

* Parts of the Russian campaign in ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'' have a repeated recording being blared over livespeakers promising that Soviet soldiers who surrender will be treated humanely. Humane treatment of enemy prisoners (or anyone really) didn't happen on the Eastern Front.

* In ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'', midway through the Sun Stone quest, you realize that someone in 1000 A.D. stole the Moon Stone before it could be fully charged with the sun's light. If you travel to Porre, the mayor will deny knowing anything about it, even though you can see his house glittering with the light of the nearly-charged Moon Stone on the world map. He becomes more honest and willing to part with it if you teach his ancestors about generosity.

* The ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' games have the "Give (insert obscenely huge number of stars or coins here)" roulette option that might appear whenever you land on a Bowser Space. Note that it is physically impossible to hold some of the selected amounts in most of the games due to various {{cap}}s. When you land on it, Bowser either usually does nothing at all and [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere flees the scene]], or sometimes give you a much smaller amount of mini-stars in the games that have them.

* In ''VideoGame/DwarfFortress'', if a {{vampire}} has infiltrated your fortress, it will occasionally accuse random citizens of its own crimes, in an attempt to throw you and the forces of Dwarven Justice off its trail. The game doesn't really have a good way of checking which citizens are plausible culprits, so an obviously-false accusation is occasionally the smoking gun for a player having trouble rooting out the bloodsucker. And this is ''after'' fixing the bug where they'd readily accuse [[ImplausibleDeniability babies and livestock]].

* ''Franchise/AceAttorney'' has a few examples where the a witness will tell a blatant lie. These are normally far and in-between however, especially as the games go on, as most of the lies are actual well spun, and are only broken apart due to a piece of evidence that the protagonist happens to have found on the off change, and/or just reply on some logical and clever thinking.
** An example of one of the few blatant lies however comes in the very first case of the first game. The witness claimed to have heard a television say the time when he found the body...only moments after the prosecution had gotten through saying there was a blackout in the building at this time. Then straight after, he claims that the murder weapon was a clock...even through it had been made blatantly clear during the trial that the murder weapon was a statue. [[spoiler: Although, this "lie" doesn't mean what you might think it does]].

* Ricky from the ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'' Add on “Honest Hearts” is this trope personified. First he’ll claim that he’s from Vault 22, which if you’ve been there you’ll know that it’s long since abandoned and overrun with hostile plant life. Then he’ll make the claim he killed a Brotherhood of Steel Paladin by shooting him through the visor of his helmet with an 11mm SMG, despite the fact power armor visors are bullet resistant and there is no such thing as 11mm. He’ll also claim to encounter “deathjaws,” evidently a more toothy version of the deadly deathclaw, and that he has a third testicle that glows in the dark. You can call him on all of these with the proper skills and perks, to which you can convince him to leave or carry some of your gear into the add on

* Appears almost every time a VisualNovel comes with the saying "All characters are 18 years of age or older" they're blatantly lying. There's usually at least one character that's under the age of 18 that has sex in such a game. Justified, as saying that the characters are underage (by the US' standards) would cause trouble. However, there's no punishment for saying a first year in high school is of legal age, no matter how obvious it is that they aren't!
