** This gets deconstructed hard in the Torna prequel DLC. Jin, already under a lot of stress from learning about his past (where he was part of a battle couple with a woman implied to have actually married him) and seeing the full might of the Aegis, is made to consider the full implications of being a battle couple with Lora once it's clear to both of them there's some degree of love between them both. He decides he cannot live without her (which Blades literally cannot do) and takes drastic measures when Lora starts to succumb from terrible wounds that end up putting Lora into a terrible coma.

VideoGame/Warcraft has Arthas Menethil and Jaina Proudmoore, . Although they fall into the fighter and mage archetypes, it's a slight subversion of expectations because Arthas has the healing abilities (in [=RPGs=], the girl always heals). Jaina's abilities mesh particularly well with Arthas' because they revolve around slowing down her opponents (which makes his job, of smashing them into bone dust easier). In Wrath of the Lich King Jaina tries a last-ditch attempt at persuading Arthas to resist the influence of the Lich King nearly getting herself and the player killed. You can also loot a locket that used to belong to Jaina from the Lich King fight, proof that Arthas kind of still loved her (maybe). The expansion Legion also formally introduced us to Turalyon and Alleria, who are the Mamma Bear and Papa Wolf to basically the whole world (but most importantly, their son Arator who has become quite the paladin himself). Sylvanas and Nathanos Blightcaller were, and still kind of are, this. They were definitely lovers when they were alive, and they still act like it now even though they both don't like to admit it. Rhonin and Vereesa were this, kind of mixed with RulingCouple as well since they were the de facto leaders of Dalaran's military. Oh yeah: Sylvanas, Alleria and Vereesa are sisters. Their parents were probably also this although their mother is never explicitly mentioned. The titan keeper Thorim and his Vrykul girlfriend Sif. * Orcs in VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft hold this as an ideal. In particular, in Warlords of Draenor, we are introduced to Durotan and Draka, the orcs who would become Thrall's parents. In an in-game conversation during the Frostfire Ridge quests, Draka is shocked that Thrall insisted his own mate Aggra StayInTheKitchen rather than be at his side in war, where she insists it's most important to have your family by you. Aggra later appears in Nagrand, having set Thrall straight on that point herself.

** The implication is that the same applied for Felix and Sheba, made more poignant by the fact the two get each other out of tight spots - Felix saves Sheba's life, and Sheba is the only reason the party could even contend with Jupiter lighthouse, since she needed to become the hero of Shaman Village to gain the hover jade necessary to traverse the place.

I deleted the Twilight Princess entry because it doesn't count. Midna and Link aren't a couple, nor does she ever flirt with him. Several of her lines heavily imply that she knows he's 'already taken' with Mayor Bo's daughter, Ilia, because she teases him about it twice. The Link/Zelda section of the remaining portion is iffy at best and relies on speculation. The closest he and Zelda have ever come to being a couple is Breath of the Wild, which is the firsr game in the series where Zelda is confirmed to be in love with Link. Except Link's feelings toward her are left ambiguous.

** Twilight Princess also has Link and Midna whenever the former is in his Wolf form and being ridden by the latter, though much like with Zelda the exact nature of their relationship is hard to pin down. Midna, at least, has dialogue at certain points that sounds like she is flirting with Link.

Also deleted the Tales Of Vesperia entry for shoehorning. Yuri and Judith aren't a couple either, but it has nothing to do with Yuri being "celibate". In an optional scene at the hotsprings, Judith says she doesn't mind the occasional bit of flirting but she also tells Yuri that's as far as it would ever go. Yuri basically replies, 'likewise' and they leave it at that.

** Subverted with Yuri and Judith from VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia. It's clear from their mutual flirting and Judith's love of teasing in-between lopping off s heads in Ghastfarost that they're at least physically attracted to each other, but Yuri's CelibateHero status prevents any kind of romance from forming.

I deleted the entire Resident Evil section because there aren't any official couples in the series. Chris has twice stated that he and Jill are partners and both have remained single canonically. The same is true of Rebecca, who's in her 30s and also still single by the time of RE: Vendetta. Leon is infatuated with Ada, be the series repeatedly shows that she uses his feelings for her to play him like a fiddle. Barry is the only one who's confirmed to be in a relationship, but his wife has yet to appear in any game.

* This appears to be the norm with most couples in Franchise/ResidentEvil, even if the pair aren't romantically linked. If they are, expect bad things to happen by the end e.g Code Vernonica. Technically the first ones to play this straight were Billy and Rebecca from RE0 as the game mechanics revolve around the pair fighting monsters and solving puzzles together, before then most pairs separate frequently in the games.
** Chris and Jill get around this by being too dense to realize they're clearly a Battle Couple (though everyone else can tell). Leon and Ada get away with it by being a different kind of couple, though ironically Leon and Ada are almost never seen fighting together in the games, only Anime/ResidentEvilDamnation plays it straight.
** Played straighter gameplay-wise in the Lightgun Wii games such as VideoGame/ResidentEvilTheUmbrellaChronicles and VideoGame/ResidentEvilTheDarkSideChronicles as Billy and Rebecca, Chris and Jill, Leon and Claire, Jill and Carlos, Claire and Steve stay together and shoot together throughout the scenarios.

VideoGame/Warcraft has Arthas Menethil and Jaina Proudmoore, . Although they fall into the fighter and mage archetypes, it's a slight subversion of expectations because Arthas has the healing abilities (in RPGs, [=RPGs=], the girl always heals). The Yogg-Saron later uses Sif as a disguise to manipulate Thorim.
