Added "Digimon Fusion" example

* Anime/DigimonFusion: [[spoiler: [=AxeKnightmon=] attempts to pull one on his older brother, Lord Bagra. He spends the entirety of the first 2 seasons furthering the master plan for Bagra to conquer the Digital World and Earth, D5, including introducing the power of Digi-Fusion to him. When Bagra triggers D5 to begin and ignites the final battle, [=AxeKnightmon=] attacks him from behind. He reveals that he intended for the final showdown to weaken and distract him to the point where he could then absorb him through Forced Digi-Fusion. It then promptly backfires when Bagra reveals that, even absorbed, he wasn't destroyed. Bagra then further divulges that he knew what his brother was planning all along, and that his actions only made the coming betrayal even more obvious. He then puts an end to it by devouring [=AxeKnightmon=] from the inside out.]]

*** Jotaro manages to perform this on Telence D'Arby, the younger of the D'Arby siblings, as well. After Telence manages to imprison Kakyoin's soul, Jotaro challenges him to a video game of baseball. Unfortunately, D'Arby somehow seems to be able to predict all of Jotaro's moves, earning a major early lead. Jotaro then manages to deduce D'Arby's final Stand ability: reading minds via yes-or-no questions. Following this epiphany, Jotaro begins openly announcing every move he'll make to Telence. However, in actual gameplay, Jotaro's moves do not match his words. Using his Stand, the younger D'Arby can see that Jotaro isn't lying to him, and that he is not cheating. The game continues, and Telence, like his brother, eventually snaps under the pressure, releasing Kakyoin's soul and conceding defeat. Once this happens, it's revealed that it wasn't Jotaro who was cheating, but Joseph, using his Stand to hijack Jotaro's game controller and play for him. In other words, Jotaro used himself as a decoy to conceal Joseph's cheating. This plan was counting on D'Arby's over-reliance on his Stand as well as Joseph realizing that Jotaro needed his help to win.

** Anime/YuGiOhGX: Adrian Gecko from Season 3 pulls off one of these to protect himself from Professor Viper. Viper realizes that Adrian hasn't participated in a single Survival Duel. Suspecting that Adrian's onto his scheme (collecting energy for Yubel), he threatens to expel him if he doesn't do a Survival Duel. He then sets the school's new Bio-Bands (which feed duelists' life force to Yubel) to maximum, intending to drain all of Adrian's life force in a single duel. Seeing what's happening, Adrian uses his family's wealth and connections to start a "Duels For Jewels" tournament, inviting all of Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue to participate. This causes Viper to back off from him, Adrian correctly deducing that Viper wouldn't risk causing so many casualties in one fell swoop.

* Anime/PokemonTheSeries: During Ash's Full Battle with Paul in Petal to the Mettle! and Evolving Strategies!, Paul does this throughout the battle such as having Torterra use Frenzy Plant to lock it in place and after Gliscor hits the Continent Pokémon with Fire Fang, X-Scissor and Steel Wing, Torterra recharges and grabs Gliscor's tail with Crunch, allowing Torterra to use Giga Drain. While Gliscor does free itself with Fire Fang on the vines, it's left very weakened. Paul tries these again during the Lily of the Valley rematch, but Ash and his team have gotten wise after their devastating defeat (Ash only beat Weavile with Staraptor and Ursaring with Weavile during the Lake Aucity match) and Ash foils these by switching out his Pokémon. He beats Aggron (Pikachu's counter) with Infernape, Gastrodon (Staraptor's counter) with Buizel, Ninjask (Gliscor's counter) with Infernape, Frosslass with Pikachu (the Mouse Pokémon's second counter), Drapion with Gliscor and Electivire with Infernape after the latter activates Blaze. Paul does claim he was using Aggron and Gastrodon to "figure out" Ash's strategy which lets his Drapion beat Buizel, Staraptor and Torterra, but considering this followed by the aformentioned "Ash foils Paul's counters" thing mentioned, it comes across as IMeantToDoThat.

** [[spoiler:In Part 6, Ermes pulls one to defeat Sports Maxx for good. Having successfully killed him once before, his Stand's powers allowed him to be revived as a zombie and to also raise a zombie army. If that weren't enough, Sports and all his new troops are invisible, too. So Ermes leaves herself open to be attacked, counting on Sports Maxx wanting to finish her off personally. The moment he bites her head, Ermes puts a sticker on her head to make a copy of it with her brains still intact. When he removes the sticker, the chunk of her head he swallowed bursts from his chest and returns to her head, the resulting blood splatter letting her know exactly where he is.]]

** Donquixote Doflamingo has a penchant for this, which fits his puppetmaster powers. His entire plan to relied on the fact that the king would try to collect the money that Doflamingo demanded from him, instead of trying to fight back. The king, being the pacifist, obliged, which allowed Doflamingo Later, knowing that Luffy allied with Law, he starts a big gladiatorial competition [[spoiler:with the Mera-Mera fruit as a prize]], correctly guessing that Luffy would enter the competition and thus walk directly into his trap. He does this again when Luffy and Law make it to his castle -- this time he makes Bellamy fight Luffy, correctly guessing that even after he sent Dellinger to kill Bellamy, beaten him to near death and used him as a HumanShield, he would still fight Luffy out of his pride, while Luffy would hesitate to fight someone in his condition.
