** During the chant, Richard Whitman turns to Grantly Budgen in hopes of getting him to tell them to stop. When he refuses, Richard threatens to have Grantly and the other teachers sacked. Grantly, seemingly defeated, approaches the chanting crowd which starts to die down, but Grantly proudly announces that he is going them in the protest.
