** Especially considering Abby's determination to survive after encountering the most formidable iteration of an infected seen so far.

** Although it comes after a heartbreaking scene, you can't deny how much of a badass Ellie had to be for her to travel from the farm to Santa Barbara, California, alone!
** The prisoners escaping the stronghold are pretty awesome too. During a fight with a guard Ellie gains the upper hand by poking her in the eye and then kicking her against the cage which stuns her long enough for the prisoners to grab her bat and pin her throat against the cage and kill her by crushing her windpipe. After that they get out, grab guns from the nearby armory and tell Ellie about Abby's current location before going off to raise hell on their captors.

** Alternately, Nora's death is worthy of mentioning because of how – in a game that allows you to [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential experiment on your enemies with high-caliber weapons, explosives, and various melee weapons]] – [[CruelAndUnusualDeath protracted, agonizing, and inspired]] it is in its cruelty and underhandedness, also showing how Ellie has become willing to exploit what gave her meaning – her immunity – to base ends.[[note]]Of course, inflicting this death also shakes Ellie and furthers her psychological decline, but it is fun to watch in the moment.[[/note]]

** Later there's Tommy fighting Abby and gaining the upper hand. If it weren't for Yara stabbing him, Tommy would've probably killed her right then and there.
* Meta: just the fact that a AAA game with an explicitly LGBTQ protagonist has broken [=PS4=] sales records is awesome, and the fact that it came out during Pride Month is even better.
** Also, when you factor in Abby as well, it's really cool that there's AAA game out that features two female player characters whose designs don't typically appeal to the MaleGaze: Ellie, a lesbian and beloved protagonist, and Abby, an undeniably buff woman.
** Love it or hate it, no one can deny the fact that this game absolutely dominated the 2020 Game Awards, with it winning a whopping seven awards (including Game of the Year) out of 10 nominations, the most of any game that year in either case. * Ellie finds out where Abby and her remaining friends are holed up, in a warehouse off the coast of Seattle. However the area to get there is flooded by ocean water and a storm rolls in as she makes her way to the building via motorboat. Halfway there, the motor conks out and she knocked overboard by a wave. On a normal person, this would spell instant death. For Ellie, she manages to ''swim the rest of the way''. She's ''that'' determined to settle the score.
