* An old 70's Action Comics 100 pager: The lead story has a sort of Injustice League capturing every single JLAer except Superman. Superman makes his way to their satellite, melts Sinestros ring, and promptly wipes up the villains...save Braniac who pwns Supes, but not before he can free the Flash who frees the rest.
* In Superman: Ending Battle, Supes takes on literally every villain in existance (except Darkseid and Doomsday), ''alone''. At one point, Neutron, a [[{{Walking Wasteland}} nuclear villain]], boasts that he cannot die, so Superman chucks him into orbit. Later, when Bizarro, Mongul, Silver Banshee, and Master Jailer are all that's left, they move the battle to somewhere in the Pacific. Superman eventually gets chucked onto an island littered with Kryptonite. As the four villains surround him and gloat, [[BrickJoke Superman finally reveals]] that [[CrazyPrepared this island is the ''exact'' spot where Neutron will land]]. Cue an almighty explosion.

* ''Superman Returns''
** Although he has had many, many awesome things to do before, {{Superman}} had been off the big screen for 19 years before he returned in, well, ''Superman Returns''. It was of crucial importance that Superman did something spectacularly awesome, and he did not disappoint: he is shot with [[ShootingSuperman several hundred bullets]] from a minigun by a {{Mook}}, followed by the Mook getting off the minigun, pulling out a pistol and firing point-blank into his face. ''The bullet bounces off Superman's '''[[EyeScream eye]]'''''. The Mook looks [[Main/OhCrap horrified]]. Superman smiles. And the crowd cheers as Superman wins the fight merely by ''showing up''.
** Supes' first helicopter-grabbing appearance in the first movie, and its recapitulation in ''Returns,'' are both fittingly awesome.
** Throwing an ISLAND/CONTINENT MADE of KRYPTONITE INTO SPACE! Oh, and it ends up becoming a PLANET...New Krypton.
** His first public reappearance. He saves the Space Shuttle, a jet full of innocent people and reporters, ''and'' Lois, and then politely admonishes them that flying is, statistically speaking "still the safest way to travel." Then he stands in the doorway. The crowd goes wild. And because it was a televised game, the entire city gets to see it and also cheer with great enthusiasm. All while his ThemeTune is playing in the background for the audience. Oh, yeah.
** There's also the scene Lois and her family are trapped in the galley of a severed ship sinking to the bottom with a mournful dirge playing as you see their despairing faces through the portal as they hopelessly struggle against an inescapable doom. And ''that'' is when you see two red boots on the window as the Superman March starts into full thunder as Superman saves the day!
** When Lois Lane's [[spoiler:five-year-old son saves her from a mook BY THROWING A PIANO AT HIM. Thereby revealing who his real dad is]].
** Lex Luthor gets one, too.
---> '''Lex''': Go ahead, say it. You know you want to.
---> '''Lois''': YoureInsane.
---> '''Lex''': No, no, the other thing. C'mon, it's right on the ''tip'' of your tongue, go on...!

Does he sit around waiting for Supes to show up? Does he angst about the fact that he doesn't have super-powers himself? Nope, he just gets up and goes to rescue them anyway.
** There's also a subtle one when Lois demands they go back and rescue Superman. Keep in mind they're facing heavy winds, jagged rocks, and possibly people with guns. Richard considers it for only a second before he says "okay" and turns the plane around.
** A [=CMoA=] for Richard comes when he takes off the seaplane-- this time ''without'' Super-help-- thus doing what he previously thought couldn't be done.
** ''Superman Returns'' manages to pull off a [=CMoA=] in the ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W-XtWob9wo opening credits]]''. The epicness of the [[ShootTheMoney eye]] [[SceneryPorn candy]] plus John Williams' rousing [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome theme]] put a [[TearJerker lump]] in this troper's throat every damn time.
*** Heck, same goes for the original 1978 movie, too; you know you're in for a treat when even the ''opening credits'' are epic.

* ''Awesome/AllStarSuperman''

* ''All-Star Superman'' has at least one per issue.
** For example, for Lois's birthday, Superman gave her powers like his temporarily; he took her along for some crime fighting; he solved the riddle of the unstoppable force and the immovable object to save her; he defeated Samson and Atlas at arm-wrestling simultaneously to "win" her affection; he took her to dinner in Atlantis, then finished up by making out with her on the Moon. All in one day, one issue.
** The riddle scene alone is its own Crowning Moment of Awesome:
--->'''Ultra-Sphinx:''' [[AC:Question: What. Happens. When. The. Unstoppable. Force. Meets. The. Immovable. Object?]]
--->'''Superman:''' ''How about this? [[spoiler:They surrender]].''
--->'''Ultra-Sphinx:''' [[AC:Response. Acceptable.]]
** A young Superman takes on his counterpart from the future:
---> '''Kal Kent:''' I'm faster! Stronger! [[CatchPhrase Able to leap]] [[BeyondTheImpossible from world to world]] [[CatchPhrase in a single bound]]! ...''Your'' solar powers are in their infancy! You're not as strong, as smart or as fast as you will be...
---> '''Superman:''' Oh, yeah? But ''I'' have my ''[[BigDamnHeroes dog!]]''
** Luthor gets a fitting, if somewhat inauspicious one in issue 10: when Superman visits him in prison and issues the 'save the world while you still have time' bit, Luthor simply walks up the glass and spits on it and gives Supes an A-level DeathGlare. 70 years of continuity and rivalry [[AdaptationDistillation boiled]] down to one hocked lugie and two implacable foes. It's that good.
*** Hell, ALL of issue 10 qualifies.
** This may be more a personal one, but my respect for All-Star Jimmy shot up tenfold when he [[spoiler: swung a punch at Super Luthor]]. It didn't do jack, but still.
*** In his DayInTheLimeLight issue, he gets a few but the best are beating an out of control Superman by becoming Doomsday and arranging to have "I Love Lucy" ''carved into the moon'' for his date with Lucy Lane.

* ''Superman''
** From the original 1978 movie: As Krypton is ripping itself apart, Jor-El and Lara calmly watch as their son's ship safely soars away.
** The first film when Superman saved Lois. The dialogue is just golden.
-->'''Superman''': Don't worry, Miss. I've got you.
-->'''Lois''': You've got me? Who's got you?
** In the first film, Superman catches the first rocket and pushes it into outer space. Awesome by itself, but consider all he does when he ''can't'' stop the second missile. He allows an [=AmTrak=] train to use his body as a railroad track; catches a schoolbus as it's falling off the Golden Gate Bridge, AND...goes down beneath the crust of the Earth and lifts the San Andreas Fault back into place.
*** And he tops it all off, when he discovers he was too late to save Lois, by flying around the Earth to TURN BACK TIME.

** "General, would you care to step outside?"
