** The series' use of EmergentGameplay in aspects such as these boss battles leads to situations where, for example, you experience great frustration as The End bests you over and over, and in the final attempt you're almost beaten once again but you manage to whittle down his health or stamina. You're over an hour in, and you ''really do not want'' to lose yet again. Finally you track each other down once more, and in what feels like a ShowdownAtHighNoon, you just barely manage to draw the MK22 before he sights you with his sniper rifle and triple tap him (the maximum amount of hits before a boss can invoke MercyInvincibility and temporarily retreat) and finally put him down. Especially considering the hand cramp which can occur during this fight on handheld consoles, it is so very ''cathartic'' to finish him this way.

That was awesome in itself. But during the epic build-up to the actual HALO drop, he takes [[UnflinchingWalk a single step]] towards the open hatch, extinguishing the cigar under his heel as it slides back along the floor due to the wind. * At a certain point in the final fight against The Boss, [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome "Snake Eater"]] [[ThemeSongPowerUp begins playing,]] leaving the player in a momentous and epic confrontation set to a massive, zealously fun shout-out to stereotypical Cold War spy films.

** The Boss destroying the drone with her Patriot. Look at those bullets tumble! She then reveals that Jack has enough endurance training to run flat out for at least sixty miles, when she tells him to make for the boarder and abandon his mission.

* Ocelot gets yet another moment of awesome when he chases after Snake and Eva on his own motorcycle, doing a ramp jump over a barricade, using his ''freakin spurs'' to drift around a sharp bend, trying to clobber the two with his skeleton stock while keeping control of his bike and maintaining his balance when Volgin deliberately ignites the Shagohod's rocket boosters in his face while he's right behind them. Then his VA, Josh Keaton, utterly nails the scene by screaming: "SON OF A - ''BITCH!!''" With such vehemence that the final word of the line was used again in the Secret Theater.

* All of Ocelot's '[[BuffySpeak finger-gun, mano-e-mano,]] [[WorthyOpponent right at you bro!]] [[MemeticMutation gestures.]]' Admit it. You pulled them off to other fans of the game didn't you?

* What most players fail to realize is that Jack ''fully'' understands Adamska's role as his supposed NSA, (really CIA - Philosopher - KGB) contact and supporter, the enigmatic ADAM. Throughout the game, both men aid and evolve each other's perspectives. Jack imparting wise combat skill and raw survival prowess and Adamska channeling over the subtlety and ultimate facade of a master spy and triple-agent. So although Naked Snake is naive of the lengths his mentor will go for her country, right to the very end, he is not towards the machinations of EVA/Tanya and Ocelot, employing one of the greatest instances of a [[ObfuscatingStupidity guileless]] nature to fool EVA into thinking he underestimates her. This is why Ocelot and Snake undertake so many awesome [[GambitPileUp gambits]] throughout the game: their meetings as opposing combatants, the build-up of a famous rivalry, his constantly trying to bump off Tanya as he sees her as a threat to his fellow agent, placing the tracker in Jack's wound to have another shot at her and to return the Tsuchinoko. [[FridgeBrilliance (Who else could have done it?!)]] Ocelot also deliberately misses three times during the motorcycle chase, an impossibility considering his marksmanship abilities (but disarms EVA of her main sidearm) and Snake repays him by saving him from falling debris with an RPG-7 rocket. The finale of this [[XanatosGambit fantastic double act]] is the concluding CQC tumble, where Ocelot proves his brilliance against the co-creator of the art and also plants a false micro-film on Snake's clothing during the fight; since we see Jack looking at the ''real film'' that contains half of the Philosopher's Legacy while listening to EVA's confession the morning after. It was all a game to those two! And like the real Biblical reference, the Serpent and Adam are a lot better off than the first poor woman, who is punished far beyond them by God for her initial transgressions. Snake's posture is not one of betrayal when he smokes his cigar but one of guilt since he knows EVA is likely to be killed by her superiors for her failure to secure the Legacy for China but like the Boss, his loyalty was to her and the US. Circles within circles within circles, but the relationship between [[MagnificentBastard Ocelot]] and [[TheAce Snake]] is absolutely fascinating and undeniably awesome, and it caps one of the greatest video game stories ever made.

Yes, it appears that no-one knew ''I'' was ADAM. Of course, I am always at the CIA's disposal; Mr. Director.

** Another one if you ''do not'' pull the trigger even though you ''know'' you had the bullet... For one brief moment, Snake reached The Boss' level of awesomeness.
