* A meta-example: the lead actress for Senua, Melina Juergens, was just a video editor at Ninja Theory and was merely meant to be a stand-in mocap actress for a real actress. That clearly did not pan out, as she gave ''[[SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct such]]'' [[SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct an emotional and well-received performance for her role that Ninja Theory used her as the lead actress instead]]. So impressive was her actress's performance that her first role helped win her a freaking '''[=BAFTA=] Award''' for Best Performer, and was agreed by critics to be one of the best parts of the game. [[SincerityMode Not bad at all for somebody who literally never acted before]]!

* A meta example: the game manages to buck the industry trend by showing that even an indie developer can create a small-budget game with production values that rival or even surpass "AAA" games. Not only did the game became profitable at only 500,000 units sold, but the game has received countless awards and much praise for its cinematic experience and depiction of mental illness.
* Another meta example; common media in general but video games specifically often treat mental illness as a grab-bag for character traits and rarely actually put in more than the surface-level research, leading to cases of AmbiguousDisorder, FunnySchizophrenia, and HollywoodPsychology that does a great disservice to those suffering from mental illnesses. The fact that this game not only is one of the more starkly accurate depictions of schizophrenia in video games but builds its entire plot, level structure, combat system, and even ''art direction and level design'' around Senua's illness while never denigrating her or making her seem like a bad person for dealing with it is jaw-dropping in its awesomeness.
* Yet another meta: Melina Juergens was a video editor at Ninja Theory who stepped in to do motion capture and voice acting for the character of Senua while they set up the mocap system in anticipation of hiring a professional for the role. She was good at it. Really, ''really'' good at it. So good, in fact, that they decided they didn't need to hire someone else for mocap or voice acting after all--Juergens was able to inhabit Senua's character that well. So very good, that Juergens won the The 2017 Game Award for Best Performance and the 2018 BAFTA Games Award for Performance, beating out fellow nominees Creator/LauraBailey, Creator/BrianBloom, Creator/AshlyBurch, Creator/ClaudiaBlack, actress Valerie Rose Lohman, and actor Abubakar Salim.

* The combat on the Bridge to Helheim, is technically just another combat encounter with basic enemies. However it comes with a beautiful, climatic view of the bridge itself and accompanied by the chorus from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OwDROB3mm8 River of Knives]] kicking in as Senua crosses the bridge, cutting down the Northerners that try to block her path along with the narration highlighting her resolve.

* Every time the player manages a perfectly-timed parry of Valravn's throwing knives, Senua sends the knife spinning back and striking him instead. Likewise, a perfect parry against one of his charge attacks turns the otherwise-unstoppable FoeTossingCharge into an ignoble pratfall that he has to clumsily get back to his feet after, in sharp contrast to his usual acrobatics. It takes a skilled player behind the controls, but Senua can potentially make the terrifying RealityWarper god look like a ''complete chump'' throughout the fight. Especially satisfying after he's spent his entire area trolling her with his illusions.
