* [[VillainousValor On the other side of the battle lines]], you have the Eighteenth Dieron Regulars commanded by Brigadier General Dexter Kingsley. While they ''are'' an Elite-rated regiment, they are also from one of the line brigades of House Kurita, unlike the [[ElitesAreMoreGlamorous more prestigious and honoredSwords of Light, Genyosha, and Otomo bodyguards of the Cordinator]]. Yet, they successfully fight the equally Elite-rated Seventeenth Skye Rangers, Fourth Royal Guards, Third Crucis Lancers, First Royal Guards, and Third Davion Guards to a standstill at a minimum. The only reason they had to retreat from Altair was because of the insubordinate actions of the (nominally superior in quality and skill) Fifth Sword of Light's commander getting his unit destroyed by a Lyran ambush, and even then Dexter got his troops, including his 'lowly' supporting armor and infantry, off-world in good shape at 1:2 odds and a significant technological disadvantage. This is best summed up by an author's note written during the desperate (and successful) defense of Dieron:

** Thanks to his exceptional service and loyalty during the war, Kingsley is rewarded post-war by becoming one of the five Warlords, which is the highest rank in the DCMS as a direct subordinate of the ruler. It's noted by everyone in and out of universe that he more that earned the rank and honor thanks to his wartime service. It's also been joked by the Questers that the real reason Skye was invaded was so [[LampshadeHanging Kingsley could get bicep tattoos that read 'I'm With Stupid' and an arrow pointing out]!]

* Theodore Kurita crushing the revanchist Black Dragon Society to prevent a resumption of the war that would doom the Draconis Combine. Even more significantly he invests in keeping the fragile peace with a mixture of pragmatism (he knows that the Combine is well behind the FedCom and a war will doom his people) and idealism (the peace gives him the chance to reform the brutal and harsh society before it destroys the Draconis Combine). Bonus points for starting the civil war at a 'tea party slash lessons learned briefing'!

** And then he beats Leo Showers who is half his age, in the prime of life, running a more technologically advanced and optimized Battlemech, and a Heroic-tier combatant (identical to Rhiannon Bruce, Justin Allard and Natasha Kerensky's skill levels!) in a '''brutal''' 1v1 duel at point-blank range. So not only does Grieg get his honor back, he wins a Warship for House Kurita and will be able to alert the Inner Sphere that the Clans are about to invade. Best summed up by this author's note (when you're so awesome that you break the plot of your author...).

-->Garth Radick actually had marginally better skills than Grieg, and a slightly better 'mech. Still, the dice didn't have to go too crazy for him to win that.

* The [[ElitesAreMoreGlamorous Fourth Royal Guards (Pride of the Commonwealth)]] service in the war as a whole is a long string of Crowning Moments of Awesome as they begin their 'Inner Sphere Comeback Tour' smash the equally elite and storied Fifth Sword of Light and force the Seventeenth Dieron Regulars to retreat off Altair (the only defeat in the war for the [=17DR=]). Then they fight Theodore Kurita to a standstill during an ambush over Ko to blunt Teddy's plans to mousetrap the Lyrans. Then they misjump to the Free Worlds League, which results in them getting drafted by Janos Marik to spearhead the assault on the Capellan Confederation's capital of Sian. On Sian they utterly destroy the best-in-the Capellan Confederation elite flagship regiment of the [[PraetorianGuard Red Lancers]] in ''hours'' to capture the Forbidden City. Then in their finale they serve as a linchpin for the Commonwealth's victory in the Battle of Skye where they go up against the ''Genyosha'' commanded by the DCMS' best general [[RedBaron Yorinaga Kurita]] in a brutal defensive battle. In addition, the battalion sized detachment bodyguarding [[WarriorPrince Melissa Steiner]] destroy the elite Liao Death Commando Special Operations unit int he Battle of New Avalon, including Melissa scoring multiple Mech kills with her tank while providing cover fire for her husband and his bodyguards.

** This sequence of events is especially poignant because the Fourth Royals were the flagship unit of the entire Lyran army until their Second Succession War betrayal and destruction during a truly epic seven year long LastStand while outnumbered 4:1. The newly reformed Fourth Royals under the command of [[WarriorPrince Frederick Steiner]] lived up to -- and arguably ''exceeded'' the standard that had been set by their legendary predecessors in Battletech canon here in Bruce Quest's version of the Fourth Succession War (which was rolled out by the GM and some of the players). Pride of the Commonwealth' indeed.

** This sequence of events is especially poignant because the Fourth Royals were the flagship unit of the entire Lyran army until their Second Succession War betrayal and destruction during a truly epic seven year long LastStand while outnumbered 4:1. The newly reformed Fourth Royals under the command of [[WarriorPrince Frederick Steiner]] lived up to -- and arguably ''exceeded'' the standard that had been set by their legendary predecessors in Battletech canon here in Bruce Quest's version of the Fourth Succession War (which was rolled out by the GM and some of the players).

'Pride of the Commonwealth' indeed.

* Kitten Platoon using a squirrel that Shoshannah Gemma found to successfully draw off any Third Royal Guard pursuit while Kitten platoon heads off in another direction. Meanwhile, Sola returns to campus with the flag still in her possession.

* A Meta Example: Chris O'Farrel's drunken write in about restoring the Fourth Royal Guard was so popular that other voters abandoned their own versions just to vote for his write in despite it not being a vote.

* After helping to fight off an attempted Pirate action Magnusson a cryogenically frozen Blackheart that survived the Amaris Civil war leads Rhiannon and co to a set of deep space coordinates and finds the Andrew Jackson an honest to god Texas Class Battleship with 6 Colossus docked and all of it full of Royal Grade equipment.

* Kitten Platoon using a squirrel that Shoshannah Gemma found to successfully draw off any Third Royal Guard pursuit while Kitten platoon heads off in another direction.
* Kitten Platoon fights Morgan at the end of the last Exercise before he returns home and stalemates him enough that it is declared a draw.

* Rhiannon and a bunch of Classmates design and prototype the first modern ASF in 200 years as a class project and then get A+ passing grades.

* During the Liao party, Rhiannon takes advantage of an opening by Romano Liao to cause the woman to lose her temper and humiliate both herself and the Capellen Confederation, Thus forming more cracks in the already shaky Concord of Kaptyn.
* Hanse Davion sucessfully negotiates a peace treaty with not only the Taurian Concordat he does it as well with the Aurigan Coalition, the Magistracy of Canopus, Thus both securing his borders and getting them to agree to attack the Capellen Confederation when the time comes.

* Katrina Steiner and Hanse Davion manage to not only leverage the repeated failures at security by Comstar at the wedding for serious concessions, they also manage to convince Janos Marik to take their overtures for peace seriously, resulting in his abandonment of the Kapteyn Pact. As a result of the Capellan meddling at the wedding (and Romano Liao's Thuggee Cultist attacks), Comstar ends up interdicting the entire Capellan Confederation for an entire year, allowing Operation RAT to fire off without anyone except Hanse knowing exactly how much territory he could seize under the cover of the communications embargo. The thread jokingly suggests that Hanse should send an award and a medal to Romano's cell in Comstar custody honoring her for her contributions to the Federated Suns.
* Janos Marik after the attack on the Bachelorette party on the Boat finally has all the excuse he needs and withdraws from the Concord of Kaptyn thus leaving the Draconis Combine and Capellen Confederation vulnerable to attacks from the newly formed Federated Commonwealth.

* Meta Example, Chris O'Farrel's drunken write in about restoring the Fourth Royal Guard was so popular that other voters abandoned their own versions just to vote for his write in despite it not being a vote.

* Katrina Steiner on the birthday of the Lyran Commonwealth announces the reformation of the Fourth Royal Guard after its destruction 180 some years ago due to the actions of [[TheCaligula Claudius Steiner]] who knowingly left them to die.

* [[PapaWolf Duke Brecker]] decapitating Aldo Lestrade for his action in tipping off the Drac's to the route the Cadet Convoy was taking to the NAIS from Tharkad in an attempt to kill Rhiannon Bruce, and in retribution for endangering his Daughter who was also part of the convoy.

* The Somerset Ducal Guard despite being surprised fight off the thuggee attack on the Bachelorette party and do not lose a single member but several are wounded.

* The Third Royal Guard manages to not only drive off the Second Sword of Light, they manage to completely destroy the entire unit except for one dropship that managed to lift off but was quickly destroyed by the Black Aces. And the sword of Light's Flag and banner were also captured as well.

A pair of DCMS fighters attempt to finish her off, but she manages to outmanuver and take down one of them, terrifying the other into retreating. Her return to base, with the Stuka limping ''on one wing'' and with ''less armor than the piloting suit she wore'', end up cementing her callsign as 'Sephiroth'.
