** During an absolute banger against Wrestling/AJStyles, AJ, in pure desperation, would pull out the DangerousForbiddenTechnique finishing move known as the Burning Hammer (from the playbook of legendary puroresu Wrestling/KentaKobashi). Kobashi himself has only used the move seven times in his career (winning the match on all seven occasions) because of its ability to seriously maim the recipient. The last time this was seen in the WWE was during the Cruiserweight Championship when Brian Kendrick placed it on Kota Ibushi and got a two-count. When Cody was on the receiving end of the move from Styles in this match, the referee didn't reach a two-count. Cody kicked out of the Burning Hammer at one. Reflection though it may be of AJ's getting desperate and using a move he hadn't yet mastered, damn though.

** On a more metatextual level, this match ultimately saw Cody not only succeed in his first title defense as Undisputed WWE Champion, but also net another intangible career achievement: yet another five-star match from Dave Meltzer, his fourth career-wide. And this time he didn't even need to blow out his pec to do it!

I know some people only consider it a true Burning Hammer if Kobashi does it, otherwise it's just an inverted Death Valley Driver, but I think the way Graves clearly referred to it as the Burning Hammer means we're supposed to treat it as at least nearly as strong as Kobashi's version

For bonus points, and on a note absolutely monumental to the wrestling industry, this promo was considered by many to be the long-awaited official death of WWE's maligned PG Era censorship, and a massive return to Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era form in terms of mature content and language.

* Following the 2024 Rumble, a ton of sudden chaos in WWE (including Wrestling/VinceMcMahon's latest legal scandals and various injuries) resulted in several major booking changes, by far the most shocking and controversial being The Rock of all people -- having only just made his return to the company -- pushing himself into the [=WrestleMania=] main event spotlight and attempting to claim the match against Wrestling/RomanReigns for the Universal Championship for himself, with Cody being relegated to facing off against Seth Rollins. After intensely vocal outcry for Cody to claim his rightful place in the main event, he finally made his decision during the [=WrestleMania=] XL kickoff show: as The Rock and Reigns began celebrating their upcoming bout, Cody stormed in and asserted right to their faces that he won the Rumble, he was the one who will get to decide who he faces in the main event, and it will be him vs. Reigns. Things became intensely personal very fast, with The Rock decisively turning heel by slapping Cody in the face after insulting his bloodline (Hypocrite right after he and Reigns mocked , mind you), but the message was clear: Rhodes vs. Reigns was on.
