* Kyle. The leader of the HErmits can only be described as a cybernetic ninja wielding lightning attacks. You and Hal investigate the Hermits and eventually come across the shocking sight of a lone Hermit fighting off a chimera and winning without a legion! And enters the leader of the clan who immediately knows of your presence. Kyle agrees to give the desired information on who is supplying the Blue Evolve in exchange for a demonstration of your skills. After a brawl against a squad of Hermits, the leader himself literally jumps into the fight sticking his sword into the ground and balancing on it while sending out a burst of electricity! And then he gets the boss subtitle screen!

** Made more spine-chilling when you look back and realize that this was an ''[[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Evangelion]]'' scene reference, and you'd met this game's version of ''[[BiggerBad Gendo Ikari]]''.

** The BigDamnHeroes moment. Despite your best efforts, the chimera Encephalus catches you off-guard and is about to kill you. And [[JustInTime just then]], the rest of the Neuron team suddenly appears in the Astral Plane, using their Legions to attack Encephalus in rapid succession. It culminates in Max and his Axe Legion dealing the final blow. This scene shows that you've still got a long way to go to reach their level--especially with your old man.

* What is "Startup's" first segment of gameplay?. Not the usual Platinum fare of character-action just yet. In a scene reminiscent of the opening to ''VideoGame/NierAutomata'', File 01: "Startup" features you [[DramaticChaseOpening racing to the scene on a police motorcycle]], shooting at what are essentially data-zombies who are flying around or [[DrivesLikeCrazy careening around on cars]], all trying to kill you. It culminates in a large truck veering out of control and blowing up, and you go through ''that'' completely unscathed.

* The first scene in the game, as dark as it is, shows just how badass the director of Neuron is, with Yoseph not even ''flinching'' after the Sword Legion breaks free of it's binds and stabs through the glass protecting him. And he's likely been through this exact process at least four more times when taking into account the other Legions.

* What is "Startup's" first segment of gameplay?. Not the usual Platinum fare of character-action just yet. In a scene reminiscent of the opening to ''VideoGame/NierAutomata'', "Startup" features you [[DramaticChaseOpening racing to the scene on a police motorcycle]], shooting at what are essentially data-zombies who are flying around or [[DrivesLikeCrazy careening around on cars]], but all doing their best to try and blast you off the road. It culminates in a large truck veering out of control and blowing up, and you go through ''that'' completely unscathed.
** You later repeat the sequence much later with your Legions, but as soon as you reach the truck section--[[BaitAndSwitch Crash! A giant chimera smashes it aside and starts attacking you]].

** The BigDamnHeroes moment. Despite your best efforts, the chimera Encephalus catches you off-guard and tries to kill you. And [[JustInTime just then]], the rest of the Neuron team suddenly appears in the Astral Plane, using their Legions to attack Encephalus in rapid succession. It culminates in Max and his Axe Legion dealing the final blow. This scene shows that you've still got a long way to go to reach their level--especially with your old man.

* The return of Akira as a full-fledged, black-clad Legionis in File 06, as they rescue the player character from Jena's new Homunculus. Sure, it might be a surprise in a first playthrough, not to mention only one of the ''many'' seeds of doubt that ''Astral Chain'' sews about your sibling, but it's undoubtedly one hell of a comeback for Akira Howard!

* File 02: "Awake""

* The opening level features you in a [[DramaticChaseOpening high-speed chase on a bike]], shooting at what are essentially zombies who are doing their best to try and blast you off the road. It culminates in a truck veering out of control and blowing up, and you go through ''that'' completely unscathed.
** You later repeat the sequence much later with your Legions, but as soon as you reach the truck section--[[BaitAndSwitch Crash! A giant chimera smashes it aside]] so it can serve as the boss of the sequence.

* File 02:
** The BigDamnHeroes moment. As you're about to be killed by Encephalus, the rest of the team suddenly appears in the Astral Plane and uses their Legions to attack Encephalus in rapid succession. It also shows that you've still got a long way to go to reach their level.
** When all of Neuron's Legions go berserk in the Astral Plane, the player character manages to not only fight against the Sword Legion, but even manage to tame it back to their side. Bonus points for being able to do so while heavily under the influence of redshift.

** Made more spine-chilling when you look back and realize that this was an ''Anime/{{Evangelion}}'' scene reference, and you'd met this game's version of Gendo Ikari.

It's made by Creator/PlatinumGames, the same company that brought us the ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'' series, ''VideoGame/NierAutomata'' and ''VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance''. ** When all of the Legions go berserk, the player character manages to not only fight against the Sword Legion but even manage to tame it back to their side. Bonus points for being able to do so while heavily under the influence of redshift.

* The return of Akira as a full-fledged, black-clad Legionis in File 06, as they rescue the player character from Jena's new Homunculus.

* Akira's final sacrifice [[BookEnds mirrors the opening cutscene]]: through [[HeroicWillpower sheer willpower]], they chain up the weakened Noah Prime so that you can deal the final blow to it and Yoseph. That is some fine {{irony}}.

* The opening level features you in a [[DramaticChaseOpening high-speed chase on a bike]], shooting at what are essentially zombies who are doing their best to try and blast you off the road. It culminates in a truck veering out of control and creating an explosion, which you go through completely unscathed. The protagonist and their Legion execute a great amount of teamwork, utilizing the chain to pull the protagonist underneath a truck that's about to crush them and then jumping several meters into the air and executing a crossing slash on the chimera, defeating it.
