''Sonic Destruction'' is a series of videos done by the crew of ''WebVideo/RealTimeFandub'' on the LetsPlay/SnapCube channel. The project isn't actually a dub of any ''Sonic'' game, or any extant media at all: instead, it's a live reading of a script of a ''Sonic'' fanfilm/fanseries titled, indeed, ''Sonic Destruction''. The catch is that the script was generated using ''{{VideoGame/AI Dungeon|2}}'', with a little bit of prompting to keep its train of thought in line. Hilarity ensues thanks to the AI creating inane dialogue and absurd plot twists, which the dubbers try to keep up with as they maneuver through the increasingly nonsensical storyline.

It's enough of a MindScrew to send anyone trying to pay attention to the nonsense plot for a loop.

** Previous cast members Hayley and Blue were removed from the channel due to [[invoked]][[RoleEndingMisdemeanor being outed as manipulative abusers]]. When the cast introduce themselves and say who they'll be playing, the actors taking over their roles [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial claim]] [[{{Unperson}} they've always portrayed these characters]].

** During said date, Shadow makes an offhand comment about how his "user" can play the piano. Later, when Silver brings in the [=PS2=] with VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog on it, [[spoiler:he declares that he is actually Shadow the Hedgehog, and that he's playing Shadow's life through the game]].

** Amongst all these Sonic mainstays [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and]] [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 Elise ]] is Mayor Jason King. There's also the Ultimate Lifeform, but that's at least based on the games.
** Knuckles' list of 'people who can help' the protagonists starts off unusual but still within the Sonic games' universe, quickly ventures off into the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics comics]], veers into [[WesternAnimation/IvorTheEngine obscure Welsh animated childrens' programmes,]] before making up four entirely new characters: Captain William Buckaneer, Sergeant "O", Professor Uma "Moebius" Fargod, and Lucas, the Flaming Centipede. None of these characters have thus far appeared.
** Episode 2 introduces a new antagonist in Daedalus, a character created by the AI. He’s responsible for the creation of the Book of Prophecies, Sonic’s transformation into a human, and the death of Shadow.

* DumbassNoMore: Knuckles in previous Real-Time Fandub projects was portrayed as TheStoner with some shades of outright {{cloudcuckoolander}}, but the AI-generated script combined with a new VA means he's far more lucid. He's practically an OnlySaneMan, taking initiative to combat Eggman and mostly lacking any crazy moments.

* NotMeThisTime: There are multiple points in the script where it's very clear that Penny inserted her own jokes and/or was trying to wrangle with the AI to keep the story going. When the crew notices and asks her, she fesses up to it. However, there are a couple instances where lines that are suspected to be Penny's doing were purely of the AI's creation, such as a couple comedically timed swears.

* NotMeThisTime: There are multiple points in the script where it's very clear that Penny inserted her own jokes and/or was trying to wrangle with the AI to keep the story going. When the crew notices and asks her, she fesses up to it. However, there are a couple instances where the AI was acting purely of its own volition, sure as a couple comedically timed swears.

* {{Corpsing}}: Since this is a live script reading, the cast is experiencing the story as they're acting it out. They can't help but burst out into laughter every other line due to the insane quips and plot twists the AI comes up with.

* AbsenteeActor: In Episode 2, Espio is nowhere to be found during the subplot involving the Chaotix, [[LampshadeHanging much to the confusion of the cast]]. They rationalize ''he'' [[BehindTheBlack is the invisible satellite and is just choosing not to show himself]]. Or, alternatively, he's a [[ShowWithinAShow fictional character]] in ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics''.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Elise, a benevolent princess in ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'', starts destroying her home city for what is apparently no reason while [[NeverMyFault blaming Shadow]] in the first episode. Knuckles mentions that [[EvilDoppelganger she might actually be a fake created by Eggman]], but it's never elaborated on.
* AllOrNothing: Sonic declares that his race/battle against Eggman's Ultimate Lifeform is this, wanting Eggman to stop attacking the planet if he wins, and letting Eggman do what he wishes if he loses (or rather, being too dead to prevent it).
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Though he ultimately fights to save the world, Sonic briefly contemplates destroying it. He also seems disappointed that Eggman isn't doing more to act upon his evil plan, and is rather casual about all the death and destruction surrounding him. Complicating matters is Shadow's claim that Sonic is being mind controlled by Elise, who ''also'' seems to be under some kind of dark outside influence.

* AndThenWhat: Sonic threatens to just allow the world's [[TitleDrop Destruction]] when Eggman's conquest plans threaten to blow it up, in an attempt to show Eggman how he's gone too far.
* TheAntiChrist:
** According to an ancient prophecy, Gerald Robotnik is destined to destroy the world; he himself seems to be [[ObliviouslyEvil completely confused by this]].
** Gerald himself claims that [[spoiler: Silver]] is this.

* AxCrazy: Princess Elise shows up at the climax of Episode 1, riding a dragon and attacking the heroes while shouting utterly deranged phrases. The cast assumes she's [[TheStoner insanely high]] as she's doing it:

* BioweaponBeast: Eggman has created another Ultimate Lifeform to aid in his world domination scheme. How it's supposed to help him isn't made clear since its abilities are not well-defined, but Sonic's insistence on racing it suggests it may at least have SuperSpeed.
* BlatantLies:
** Eggman tries to deceive Mayor King into believing the city has been saved while it's being attacked. King calls him out on it by bringing up that Elise and her dragon are still rampaging.
** Immediately after entering City Hall, Amy claims that everyone who was already there have finally arrived after keeping her waiting forever.

* DontYouDarePityMe: After Sonic comforts the second Shadow, he responds by punching him in the face.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Sonic may be an enormous gaslighter, but he has little patience for Shadow's conspiracy theories.

* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor:
** Eggman starts off the story trying to rule the world. After a while, he seems utterly disillusioned with world domination when he realizes the planet is going to be destroyed anyway. When Sonic starts to show an evil side of his own, Eggman calls him out for losing his way. After Sonic resumes being a good guy though, Eggman lets the Ultimate Lifeform loose to oppose him and do whatever it wants to the city. Offscreen, he most likely returns to his state of disillusionment because when we next see him, he's decided to focus on aiding Knuckles and Tails in their [[TheOmniscientCouncilOfVagueness masked council]] shenanigans instead.
** Sonic starts out as one of the good guys [[ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything who never actually does anything heroic]]. He finally starts to take action and goes to Eggman, saying he's there to stop him from destroying the world. Then Sonic considers destroying it himself, and claims he's trying to help a discouraged Eggman before shortly going back to opposing him again, this time actually fighting against evil.
* TheHeroDies: Although his status as a hero is debatable, The Ultimate Lifeform still ends up killing Sonic at the end of Episode 1. [[UnexplainedRecovery He gets better]].
* HumanityEnsues: At the end of Episode 1, Sonic, seemingly having been killed and sent flying to space just a scene prior, suddenly appears in the City Hall as a hooded figure...and turns out to not be a hedgehog anymore, but a human.

* {{Jerkass}}:
** Shadow outright insults Silver multiple times and questions why they're friends. Later on, he purposefully ignores Silver and Rouge during a crisis to consult with Knuckles.
** Sonic frequently [[{{Gaslighting}} gaslights]] those around him and cares so little for the world's destruction that he considers finishing the job himself.
* JustAMachine: Shadow couldn't imagine himself being friends with a robot. Poor Omega...

* MesACrowd: After destroying an Eggman-controlled hovercar trying to kill them, Sonic and Shadow hear a cry from a nearby forest, and find a ''second'' Shadow who's distraught about failing to keep a promise he made to Elise. Episode 2 makes this even more confusing, as the first Shadow is revealed to be a disguised Daedalus, who claims that the real Shadow has been dead for years, yet at the same time, Silver ''also'' claims to be Shadow.

* MercyKill: After Elise's dragon [[PrecisionCrash gets crushed by the remains of the Ultimate Lifeform]], Shadow puts two bullets in its head to stop its suffering.

* NeverWasThisUniverse: After her dragon has been killed, Princess Elise reveals that the city where the story has mostly taken place isn't their home, as she wants to return to Earth.

* NominalHero: Given how long they wait to even try saving the city this can apply to all the heroes, but Sonic is clearly the biggest example. He's far more nonchalant about its destruction and all the death that entails than anyone else, and he even ponders at one point if he should destroy it himself. Despite that, he ''does'' try to help eventually.
* OffscreenTeleportation:
** When Sonic confronts Eggman in his orbiting satellite, the cast notes how there's no explanation for how he got there from the city. He later somehow shows up in Jason King's office despite having just died in the satellite.

** Knuckles is constantly showing up in scenes and interjecting. Most of the time, this is without ANY indication from the script directions that he entered the scene or was there to begin with, leading the cast to presume that he is simply teleporting around.
* TheOmniscientCouncilOfVagueness: PlayedForLaughs, the city's mayor Jason King meets with five masked figures in the City Hall to discuss the current end of the world thing; the stage directions immediately reveals two of them to be Knuckles and Tails, and one to be "[[PaperThinDisguise obviously Robotnik]]".
* OnlySaneMan: Knuckles takes a moment to ask if anyone is actually trying to save the city after all the other heroes (and himself) have done nothing to help. And though his efforts are mostly offscreen, he ''does'' appear to be amongst the more proactive heroes.

* PaperThinDisguise:
** In order to avoid Eggman's robots in the city, Sonic changes his hairstyle, Tails weaves his two tails into one big tail, and Knuckles wears a jacket.
** It's apparently obvious that Eggman is one of the masked men in City Hall. The cast then notes that this description apparently doesn't apply to the easily identifiable Tails and Knuckles.

* PrecisionCrash: Although it's mentioned that Eggman's satellite was close enough to the planet for characters to see it in the sky, it's still rather coincidental that the ejected Ultimate Lifeform manages to crash down exactly on the head of Elise's dragon.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: Shadow realizes that Elise has become evil when she confronts him in a forest with red eyes.

* RobotBuddy: Silver claims to have made a robot friend in the city named Q-B, but they don't make an appearance.

* SmokeOut: Eggman fires missiles from his car to make a smokescreen to aid in his getaway.
* StealthHiBye: Knuckles frequently appears out of nowhere. The other characters make no note of this, but the cast very much does.

* StrawMisogynist: Silver seems utterly repulsed when Shadow asks if his new friend is a girl.

* TakingYouWithMe: Sonic is killed by the Ultimate Lifeform when they fight in Eggman's satellite, but lasts just long enough to [[ThrownOutTheAirlock activate the airlock]].
* ThrownOutTheAirlock: The Ultimate Lifeform is defeated when Sonic [[TakingYouWithMe uses the last of his life force]] to press a button that lowers a wall and sucks it out of the satellite they were fighting in. [[PrecisionCrash Coincidentally, it crashes right onto the head of Elise's dragon]].

* UnexplainedRecovery: Sonic just appears in Jason King's office right after dying in Eggman's satellite. The only explanation given is that this somehow fulfills a prophecy. While Episode 2 reveals that Daedalus (or at least, his subordinate) was responsible, no explanation is given for how it was achieved, or why.

* VisionaryVillain: Eggman insists that he's a scientist with a vision when Sonic confronts him in his satellite, though Sonic retorts that he's just a madman... with a vision.
