* ImprobableAge: Yuamu, Yuna and Asaka are all school kids who are presidents of their companies, Mutsuba in particular being absurdly huge apparently having over 8.88 million employees(based on what Asaka said). There's also London who's shown to be the same age as them yet has a job as a manager.

* BaitAndSwitch: In Episode 8, Manya Atachi acts like she's completely forgotten her past and memories of being friends with Yuamu...until the end of the episode reveals that it's all an act -- and act that Yuamu was in on the whole time -- and she is happy to see her old friend after all this time.

* MagicPokerEquation: Subverted in the first duel of the series. Where both duelists have rather poor starting hands with Yuhi only drawing one monster card and Yudias only having level 4 and lower monster cards.

* EndangeredSpecies: [[spoiler:This is the case for space dragons and dragon busters. Space dragons are said to be extinct with there only being two known descendants in the series with Phaser and Tremolo. Dragon busters hunt and feed on space dragons which can only be found as fossils now and Shewbahha is the only dragon buster in the series.]]

* DarkerAndEdgier: Downplayed as this is still a Rush Duel anime, and thus is still rather wacky, but the main underlying plot line involves Yudias and his people getting chased out of their star cluster due to an ongoing war, followed up by Zwijo being a major KnightOfCerebus whose plans to use "Rush Duels" amount to using them as a superweapon, along with subtler topics such as aliens being trapped and imprisoned underground by the MIK. [[spoiler: They also bring back carding as a means to punish the loser.]]

* DarkerAndEdgier: Downplayed as this is still a Rush Duel anime, and thus is still rather wacky, but the main underlying plot line involves Yudias and his people getting chased out of their star cluster due to an ongoing war, followed up by Zwijo being a major KnightOfCerebus whose plans to use "Rush Duels" amount to using them as a superweapon, along with subtler topics such as aliens being trapped and imprisoned underground by the MIK.

* GradeSchoolCEO: Yuamu is the CEO of UTS, inherited from her and Yuuhi's father. Yuna Goha is also supposed to the CEO of Goha Company, but has instead chosen to be Rovian Kirishima's [[TheDragon top supporter]].

* BiggerOnTheInside: Yudias's spaceship, Valvelgear, is somehow able to fit ''8.88 million'' Velgians inside.

* FriendOrIdolDecision: In #4, Yuhi has to make the decision between going after the alien who stole his Earthdamar or getting the Valvelgear containing 8.88 million of Yudias' Velgian followers back after accidentally dropping it in a garbage truck. He chooses the latter out of friendship.

* MundaneMadeAwesome: The Velgians make ''inserting a plug into a socket'' seem like a gargantuan task.

* TalkingAnimal: Manabu's feline partner, Nyandestar, is capable of human speech.

** Episode 26 ends with TheReveal of the space treasure. It turns out to be spaceship created by Velgians in the past, which was [[spoiler:buried underneath Mutsuba Town and Yudias' dueling spirit accidentally activated it, thus causing the whole town to go into space and setting a new frontier]].

* IfOnlyYouKnew: With the announcement of a prize for the Galaxy Cup Nomura who is part of the assembled crowd for the event makes it clear that he thinks that something like the complete set of Mr. Universe wouldn't be a good prize. Phaser, Asaka and Yuna all immediately reply that they would never do that with it being shown that this is precisely what each of them prepared. After that they have to figure out another prize during the ongoing Galaxy Cup.

In Episode 90 it's revealed that Yudias has the Milky Way galaxy and that this is central to Kuaidul's plans because he wants to fuse it with his Andromeda galaxy similar to what will happen to these galaxies in the far future.]]

[[spoiler:It's later revealed that Yuga gave it to him alongside the card packs he used to make his Deck, explaining why it's different than the other models. The reveal that ''GO RUSH!!'' takes place in the ''past'' also means this trope is played with: that Duel Disk ''is'' older than all the others, which are based on it, however they are also realized with lesser technology, meaning they might be less advanced.]]

Yuhi and Yuamu's ages are also not explicitly mentioned; they are, however, described as fifth-graders, which makes them either 10 or 11.

* ImmediatelyProvenWrong: The moment Tell says that no attack should be able to pierce the Super Valvel Shield it gets pierced by the spaceship of the Great King of Terror.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: When Team Mutsuba gather to face the great king of terror, members include a laser-eyeing alien soldier, a space cop, a bandit poet, a muscular bipedal dog and a cutesy idol. This is only 30 episodes in, there will likely be even more weirdos joining eventually.

** In their duel, Tell Kawai is surprised at the deck Yuhi is using. [[spoiler: Episode 42 reveals that he used to have Yuamu's dragon deck, but they traded after that loss because Yuhi didn't feel worthy of it.]]

* HumansAreSpecial: Early on in the series, we're introduced to a mysterious substance called "Earthdamar" that was harvested from Yuhi's body. It has very mysterious powers, such as the ability to make Duel Monsters become real. [[spoiler: It is eventually revealed that Earthdamar is something that all humans possess, as it is the physical manifestation of our ability to enjoy things.]]

* SignificantAnagram: [[spoiler:There is one with Jointech Nestrider Tank and Darkness Jointech Tyrans in rōmaji. This was used by Kuaidul to trick Yuhi into playing a Darkness Monster to advance his Kartios Project.]]

* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Yuamu wears glasses with pink shades and is the more intellectual one between her and Yuuhi.
* StarfishLanguage: Yudias and his people have their own native language known as Velgearian, which is incomprehenisble to Earthlings. Card texts written on Galaxy-type Normal monsters are also complemented with alien speech.
