The final frames depict Haruo's offspring jolly participating in traditional activities, and Maina happily watching over them. * LuddWasRight: Depending on interpretation, [[spoiler: because any advanced civilization will inevitably fall into despair at a finite universe and call up Ghidorah to consume them, because Godzilla Earth is the planet itself lashing out at humanity for developing beyond "natural" constraits, or indeed both]] But any way you slice it, advanced civilization only leads to degredation and destruction from within or without, and the only presented alternative is primitivism that rejects any form of higher idealism in favor of "winning/losing."

* CosmicHorrorStory: By GOD this film has huge overtones of this. Ghidorah is an immortal, indestructible eldritch being from another dimension that warps time and space. He destroys the Aratrum by trapping it with his Super-Gravity and then ''compresses it'' until it explodes. He then goes after the planet. [[spoiler:Thankfully, Haruo doesn't go through with the sacrifice, allowing Godzilla to banish Ghidorah back from whence he came. Even the Exif get in on this, as Metphies explains that, when the Exif realized the universe itself is finite and will one day cease, the only thing that matters is destruction itself. Basically, GoMadFromTheRevelation on a species-wide scale.]]

* LuddWasRight: Depending on interpretation, [[spoiler: because any advanced civilization will inevitably fall into despair at a finite universe and call up Ghidorah to consume them, because Godzilla Earth is the planet itself lashing out at humanity for having been irresponsible with their advanced technology, or indeed both]]. Even so, the trilogy's symbolism and dialogues portray it as a statement against over-technology and its irresponsible (mis)use, and is more of a social critique, rather than an anti-technology sentiment.

* YourCheatingHeart: This is invoked by Metphies when [[spoiler:he conjures a hallucination of Yuko in an attempt to break Haruo's will, having her accuse him of letting her be assimilated by the nanometal so that he could cheat on her with the Houtua twins immediately afterwards]].

While the remaining Bilsulado onboard the ''Aratrum'' attempt to force Captain Mori to declare [[{{Protagonist}} Haruo Sakaki]] a traitor and have him executed; Haruo mourns his girlfriend Yuko Tani, who has been left brain-dead after being assimilated by Mechagodzilla's nanometal. Discovering that the Exif bishop Metphies has been using the fact that he has survived battling Godzilla twice to draw more followers to the Exif religion, Haruo withdraws into seclusion on the suggestion of Martin Lazzari, watched over by the twin Houtua priestesses Miana and Maina.

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:Haruo kills Metphies and stops his evil plan, while Godzilla Earth is able to defeat Ghidorah; but that still leaves Godzilla as undisputed ruler of the planet and Hauro realizes that the dangerous cycle of {{revenge}} and hatred will continue and potentially corrupt the Houtua's way of life if he continues living among them. In addition, Martin reveals he plans to use Yuko and the Vulture's nanometal to restore human civilization, causing Haruo to have a vision where Metphies tells him that Ghidorah's time will come again. To prevent this, Haruo takes the comatose Yuko and the remaining Vulture to confront Godzilla, who vaporizes them. On a brighter note, the remnants of humanity have successfully integrated with the Houtua, Maina raises Haruo's child, and Haruo himself is honored as a hero by future generations. With the egg still intact, Mothra's offspring may one day bring Godzilla's reign to an end.]]

* YouAreAlreadyDead: As the ''Aratrum'' is being destroyed by Ghidorah, the bridge crew suddenly finds that the bridge no longer shows signs of life. They realize with horror that Ghidorah has already killed them, which it does a few moments later.

* ScienceFantasy: With all of mankind's strategies and scientific tools rendered useless by Ghidorah infecting reality with the laws of its own universe, the story goes from a sci-fi war drama to a classic tale of a noble knight who must thwart a terrible demon by [[spoiler:slaying the priest that summoned it.]] The trope itself is discussed during the early part of this film, with Metphies recalling a person's saying "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".

* EldritchAbomination: Ghidorah is a spectral interdimensional gold-colored serpent-creature, consisting of three heads and immensely-long serpentine necks, its body remaining in its home dimension. As a result of it obeying an utterly alien set of laws of physics, Ghidorah can freely warp gravity, dismember people using its shadow, cannot be detected by technology, is unaffected by Godzilla's Atomic Breath and energy barrier, and seemingly exists and doesn't exist simultaneously.

* SexForSolace: Seeing how depressed Haruo is, Miana offers to "connect life" with him; though he turns her down. [[spoiler:Not long afterward, Maina reveals that she was the one who saved Haruo at the end of ''Planet of the Monsters'' and offers herself to him, saying that she's scared he'll disappear. Haruo [[RelationshipUpgrade reciprocates her affections]] and has sex with her, which leaves her pregnant at the end of the movie.]]

He looks up and sees Ghidorah's face before Ghidorah crushes the ship, destroying it.]]
