* TrainingFromHell: No pun intended; this is what Frieza subjects himself and his men to for a grueling four months in order to prepare for the invasion of Earth. Given Goku, Vegeta and the Z Fighters had ''years'' of improvement since Namek, you can see the results pretty clearly in their ability to even provide a challenge, much less fight them evenly.

'''''Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'''''' is the 19th official movie in the ''Franchise/DragonBall'' franchise set for release in early 2015. It is serving as a direct sequel to the previous movie, [[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]], drawing upon many elements from that previous movie such as the Super Saiyan God form and bringing back characters Beerus and Whis. The plot involves Frieza's resurrection and third battle against the Z-Warriors.

The trailers can be seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXE5Sjw2wD0 here]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdkcNO3YqGY here.]]

----
!!This work contains examples of:
* ActionizedSequel: While Battle of Gods had its fight scenes, it was much more focused on slapstick and comedy. This one is going all out with Frieza's return and a whole alien invasion, with AkiraToriyama himself promising that this one would feature many more action scenes than the previous film.
* ADayInTheLimeLight: While Goku and Vegeta may be the ones fighting Frieza personally, a lot of the lesser powered characters are finally getting to do something this movie, as opposed to [[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods the movie directly before it.]] Even ''Master Roshi'' is getting in on the action for a change.
* AdvertisedExtra: [[spoiler: Tagoma. Early on, he suggests that Frieza should avoid the Saiyans and go back to running his empire, and Frieza kills him for daring to say that.]]
* AlienInvasion: Frieza and his army are attacking Earth this time.
* AnimationBump
* BackFromTheDead: Frieza. With a vengeance.
* BadBoss: Frieza's first action upon being fully revived is to kill several of his men for their weakness (and to test his own strength).
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Frieza's goons, Tagoma and Sorbet respectively.
* TheBusCameBack: '''[[UpToEleven Oh, hell yeah.]]''' Frieza is back, and '''''even more powerful than ever'''''!
* CameBackStrong: Frieza. '''Big time.''' Not only is he strong enough to fight on the same level as post Super Saiyan God Goku in his true form, he's also attained a new form that supposedly powers him up even further.
* CameBackWrong: It turns out Shenron ''can'' revive people's souls after more than a year, the limit is on their bodies, meaning Frieza comes back as ''chopped meat'' and has to be pieced back together by his scientists.
* CanonImmigrant: An odd example: images from V-Jump indicate that Tights from Toriyama's ''Manga/JacoTheGalacticPatrolman'' manga will be appearing in the film, and Jaco will be fighting alongside the main cast against Frieza's forces. [[spoiler:However, ''Jaco''[='s=] final chapter reveals it to be a prequel to ''Dragon Ball'', and that Tights is Bulma's older sister, so technically the two stories were already in continuity. The main issue is that ''Jaco'' was created in 2013, well after ''Dragon Ball'' had ended, so this film is the first opportunity for such a reference.]]
* CoolShip: The flying saucers make their return.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: Hell is revealed to be like this in the tie-in manga, full of ''fairies'' and ''flowers'' and the souls of the damned [[LotusEaterMachine trapped in pods where they're forced to relive their worst memories without end...]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Frieza, after coming BackFromTheDead, waits until after undergoing TrainingFromHell before invoking RoaringRampageOfRevenge on the heroes--basically taking a page from their playbook. However, he's still GenreBlind enough to refuse the PragmaticVillainy alternative of just returning to ruling his empire.
* DarkerAndEdgier: After the much more lighthearted and humorous Battle of Gods, the trailers alone have shown that this film is bringing back Frieza as well as the level of menace he had back during the original Namek storyline.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: As opposed to many other Dragon Ball films, and as seen with the page image, Vegeta has almost as much to do with the plot as Goku this time around.
* TheDreaded: The trailer seems to imply Frieza is still this to Vegeta, with his shock at his return.
** In the tie-in manga, when Frieza's minions tell him that Goku defeated Majin Buu, he gets a perfect idea of how strong Goku is now; apparently, King Cold told him "The two people in this universe whom you should never cross are the God of Destruction Beerus, and Majin Buu".
* EarthShatteringKaboom: The third trailer ends with the destruction of Earth.
* EvilLaugh: Frieza briefly does his cocky snicker in the trailer.
* EvilOverlord: Guess.
* FlyingSaucer: The alien invasion uses the familiar ship design.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Frieza, funnily enough. Soon after Trunks killed him on Earth he took a massive drop on the threat scale (and his threat was nonexistent if one treats Fusion Reborn as canon). Now, though, he's on top form once more.
* GodzillaThreshold: Tagoma and Sorbet only resurrect Frieza because they've been trying without success to keep his empire afloat and together without him, but it's reached the point where they're losing planet after planet to revolts. While neither is ''happy'' to bring Frieza back to life, Sorbet more or less says Frieza's the only one who could salvage the Empire.
* GoldenSuperMode: [[spoiler:It's not just for Saiyans any more - Frieza's new form is effectively this.]]
* TheGreys: Tagoma's design seems influenced by this, from his dull complexion to his bulbous cranium. He is, however, exceptionally lanky.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Lampshaded and averted hard. Frieza assumed that being a natural-born prodigy made him stronger than anyone else, a notion shattered rather violently by his encounters with Goku and Future Trunks (who had to train in order to achieve Super Saiyan). Bearing this in mind, Frieza resolves to undergo training for the first time in his life so he can take his revenge.

* MeaningfulEcho: [[spoiler: At one point in the trailer, Goku lies injured from battle and implores Vegeta for his aid in the fight. A direct inverse from their first battle with Frieza on Namek.]]
* MookPromotion: Sorbet goes from a relatively low position (Frieza had trouble recognizing him at first) to running Frieza's entire empire in his absence.
* MundaneUtility: Apparently, Krillin decided to use his super powered fighting skills to fight crime on the police force. Granted, not as bad as some examples, but still.
* NextTierPowerUp: Through some unknown means, Frieza has undergone a power up massive enough to take on Goku in his post-Battle of Gods years, and has a new transformation to boot.
* PoliceAreUseless: [[AvertedTrope Averted.]] Granted, this trope is only averted because Krillin decided to join the police force shortly before the plot kicks off, but still.
* RedshirtArmy: Frieza's people arrive on the planet with a massive army, but unless they've had an upgrade too...
* RevengeBeforeReason: If Frieza hadn't been so intent on getting revenge on Goku, then he likely could have just gone back to ruling his empire and the heroes would've never noticed. Tagoma points this out [[spoiler:and gets killed for it.]]
* RetiredBadass: Seemingly defied. Even Master Roshi is getting in on the action.
* SayMyName: In the trailer...
-->'''Goku:''' FREEEZAAAA!
* SceneryPorn: It's a Dragon Ball Z movie. This is a given. Even the special effects alone seem pretty impressive from the trailers seen so far.
* SpaceAgeStasis: Averted. The scouters Frieza's army wears have an updated look to them. [[spoiler:Healing tank technology has also advanced to the point that they can reattach and regenerate lost body parts, allowing Frieza to return to normal after being wished backed by to life in pieces.]]
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Tagoma points out that Frieza has no real obligation to kill the Super Saiyans and could just ignore them and go back to running his empire. [[spoiler:Frieza, being [[BadBoss Frieza,]] kills him for it.]]
* SuperMode: Frieza apparently has one of his own this time around. Surprisingly, if what's been said about the movie's development so far is to be trusted, this trope is ''[[AvertedTrope averted]]'' with Goku, who's stated to ''not'' go Super Saiyan over the course of the movie, since [[spoiler: he no longer needs the transformation since becoming a PhysicalGod [[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods in the last movie]].]][[note]]That said, this report was later said to be a mistranslation, with the non-transformation edict only applying to one scene. Furthermore, the initial poster and video trailer for the movie which came out before its plot was revealed both featured Goku going Super Saiyan. Only time will tell whether or not Goku not transforming applies to the entire film.[[/note]]
* SwordOfDamocles: More or less the reason Frieza's minions bring him back to life: the Empire is falling to pieces without Frieza around, so they resurrect him so people will fear his wrath again and get back in line.
* ThrownOutTheAirlock: [[spoiler: Tagoma's death at Frieza's hands.]]
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] ''big time'' with Frieza, who CameBackStrong. This was even [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] at Jump Festa 2015, in which is was stated that Frieza "decided to train for the first time in his life".
** In the tie-in manga preview, Freeza remarks that he was such a natural prodigy that he had never needed to train even for a day in his life, and he never did, but now that he's aware that Goku has surpassed Buu, he decides to actually train, realizing that, since the Saiyans got where they were because of sheer work and effort in their training, just imagine how powerful he could be [[BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame if he started training as well.]]
* WeCanRuleTogether: Frieza offers Vegeta a job as a high-ranking general in his army.
* WhamEpisode: This movie is shaping up to be one, between Frieza's revival, his subsequent invasion of Earth, and his new transformation.
