* MoodDissonance:
** In episode 6 the Xros Heart team are in a very tough situation, where they're surrounded by Neptunemon's army, which holds Archelomon hostage. How do they save him? By summoning [=MarineAngemon=] which distracts the Bagra army with love. Hows that for mood killer.
** In episode 17. In the middle of the most dramatic part of the episode, Taiki summons Patamon to make puffy, white clouds for Shoutmon [=X4=] to walk across accompanied by squishing noises. Way to kill the mood, guys. Note that they didn't even play the [=DigiMemory=] music when summoning Patamon, so it was really quite... off.

* HotterAndSexier: Even more so than ''Anime/DigimonDataSquad''. There's a lot more {{fanservice}} in this installment due to the [[MaleGaze presence]] of more humanoid female Digimon, some of whom had only shown up in the video games and the card games. Standouts are Lilithmon (the embodiment of lust, though her outfit is more akin to [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyX Lu]][[ImpossiblyLowNeckline lu's]], making it less revealing than you would think), Mervamon (a giant warrior that's clad in the [[ChainmailBikini usual fashion]]), and Bastemon (a {{Catgirl}} BellyDancer).

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Dorurumon or Dorulumon? Considering that his name hails from ''doriru'' and ''garuru''[[note]] former is the Japanese pronunciation of drill while the latter is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of howling[[/note]], it's just like [[Series/KamenRiderKiva Garuru/Garulu]] again!
** For the record, the Monitamon uses "Dorulumon"...
** Initially, there was confusion as to whether the antagonist army was named "Bagura", "Bagra", "Vagra", or even "Bugra". "Bagra" won out in the end.
** Valvemon or Bulbmon? It was Bulbmon in the localization of ''VideoGame/DigimonWorld3'', but its name can be correctly romanized either way. "Valvemon" makes more sense, though.
** A few Digimon's names are spelled wrong in the Xros sequences (for example, Dorulumon is "Dorurumon").

* FanservicePack: [[http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Mervamon Mervamon]], who debuted in this anime. She originally based on ''[[IncrediblyLamePun Min]]''[[http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Minervamon ervamon]], a younger, child-like form which only appeared in video games and the card games. [[AllThereInTheManual Lore-wise]], the usually {{bratty|HalfPint}} but [[PintSizedPowerhouse powerful]] Minervamon becomes [[TookALevelInBadass more experienced]] and "[[ShesAllGrownUp matures]]" into Mervamon, having a much more amicable personality while also [[SpiritedCompetitor having a more controlled zeal for battle]] that her previous form [[BloodKnight lacked]]. The only outward similarities between the two are the [[AnimalMotif snake motif]] and [[{{BFS}} the sword]].

* IncrediblyLamePun: Notably, a [[HurricaneOfPuns storm of these]] was how Xros Heart got Karatenmon to give up the Code Crown he guarded. And who rattled off this storm? [[DefrostingIceQueen Nene.]]

* MechaExpansionPack: Some Digimon serve this purpose when [=DigiXrossed=] instead of an outright composite merger, such as [[DropTheHammer Golemon for [=MailBirdramon=]]], [[SuperNotDrowningSkills [=ChibiKamemon=] for Shoutmon X2]], [[CoolSword Knightmon]] [[CapedMecha and the]] [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe [=PawnChessmon=] for]] [[KnightInShiningArmor Shoutmon X4]], and [[SwordBeam Wisemon for both Mervamon and Knightmon]].

* ArtEvolution: A lot of work has been put into the shading of the characters -- far more than in previous series, making the characters look flat in comparison. In fact, though the characters have been drawn a lot like ''Adventure'' and ''Frontier'' characters, the animation style, coloring and shading looks more like ''[[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya]]'' with bits of Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann thrown in -- just look at the [[spoiler: Digivolution, Double Xros and Great Xros]] sequences. Heck, any of the digimon in the Generals' armies display this perfectly.

* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: Also inverted. Tactimon: Highly strategic, dangerously lethal, and an adversary to the heroes. Also shown to be [[AuthorityEqualsAsskicking more than just competent in combat by himself]], if knocking around the heroes with a [[{{BFS}} giant katana]] without unsheathing it is any indication.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: Inverted, as in the Lake Zone, Lillithmon unleashes [=DaiPenmon=], a giant, evil penguin wielding [[ImprobableWeaponUser enormous popsicles.]] [[OneWingedAngel Then he gets worse.]]

* WhosOnFirst: Toei played with English pun on Yuu's name in episode 49. In the flashback to when he met Damemon, Damemon asks for his name using the word "you": ''YOU no namae wa?'' So when Yuu answers, it takes a moment for Damemon to get it. ''Eh, YOU no namae wa Yuu? OH AMAZING!'' The funny thing is the dubbers will have to figure a way around this anyway.

* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: [[spoiler: [[TheChick Akari]] and [[{{Ojou}} Nene of all people]] do one (at Nene's suggestion no less) to earn the Code Crown for the Shinobi Zone. Guess what? It worked.]]

* AnAxeToGrind: The yellow Pickmons can [=DigiXros=] with Starmon to form an axe.

* TurtlePower: [=ChibiKamemon=] and Archelomon are both turtle-like Digimon.

Compare to many SuperRobot series in style, as well as ''Manga/DragonQuestTheAdventureOfDai'' and ''Series/KamenRiderW'' (other series by the anime's head writer Riku Sanjo).
