''Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Re;surrection'' is a 2019 {{Animated Film|s}} sequel to ''Anime/CodeGeass'', directed by Goro Taniguchi, written by Ichiro Okouchi and produced by Creator/{{Sunrise}}.

* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: Subverted during [[spoiler:the end of Suzaku's battle with Shalio. No longer aided by his sister's prophecies and with his Knightmare beaten down and deprived of all its weapons, the latter grapples the former and reveals it has 2 extra pairs of limbs to try and tear the Lancelot apart. Instead of prolonging the fight, Suzaku simply disengages the Lancelot sIN's Right arm and unloads a flurry of rapid fire energy wing shots, utterly destroying Shalio's KMF and killing him in the process.]]

* WackyMarriageProposal: [[spoiler:As mentioned by the director while giving acting instructions to C.C.'s voice actress, Lelouch suggestion about changing his name to "L.L." may be interpreted as an awkward attempt to ShedTheFamilyName, by im that he accept the same kind of life and identity as someone like C.C.,]].

* AbdicateTheThrone: At the start of the movie, the Holy Empire of Britannia is now the Principality of Britannia and Nunnally is a figurehead princess, with a parliament in charge instead of the traditional monarchy. The country's leadership appears to include Schneizel but he's still under Lelouch's Geass, essentially making Zero (Suzaku) the ruler of Britannia. Cornelia is also no longer a princess, and is now merely a sub-commander of the Black Knights.

In addition to member states reviving national rivalries among themselves, there's also the question of Zilkistan, whose citizens and leadership are not too pleased with living in a world where peace, at least nominally, is the order of the day.

** Milly and Lloyd are shown goofing of as Cecile sits in a hospital bed looking embarrassed while Nina comes in carrying drinks for them.

* [[MidSeasonUpgrade Mid Movie Upgrade]]: Following his return as Zero, Lelouch initially piloted the Mahoroba Type-0 but after getting it heavily damaged, C.C. brought the Gekkoei to him so that they could continue in their mission to rescue Nunnally. He and C.C. became co-pilots again, a CallBack to them co-piloting the Gawain in Season 1.

* GetAholdOfYourselfMan: C.C. to Zero after [[spoiler:Chamna's MentalTimeTravel allows her to thwart his initial battle plan on the second try, causing him to panic.]]

After his initial plan is thwarted by [[spoiler:Chamna's Geass, he comes up with a list of two dozen possible ways a Geass could be used to come up with a counter for his plans. Lelouch then has C.C. launch a variety of strategies he expects to fail in order to figure out exactly what kind of Geass he's actually up against and how to thwart it.]]

* BatmanGambit: Lelouch's final move against Chamna is, by his own admission, a coin toss because [[spoiler:he has a suspicion about how her Geass works but isn't positive, so he risks his life by claiming to have an identical Geass, betting that she'll give up the activation requirements in an attempt to stop him from using it]].
* BatmanGrabsAGun: Lelouch admits that under his credo that the only people who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed in return, [[spoiler:a person who has died but has been returned to life through the actions of C.C.]] no longer has business on a battlefield or changing the world, but he's willing to set that aside for one last time because Nunnally is in danger.

* {{Fanservice}}: Chamna spends an entire scene in the final act completely naked, [[spoiler:as she had mentally traveled back in time six hours, causing her to receive a vision of the future while taking a bath.]]

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:When Lelouch realizes what Chamna's Geass is, he figures out how far she travels back in time, then uses his own Geass to put her to sleep permanently, preventing her from killing herself. He then orders her personal guard to blow up the room after 10 hours. Because of this, even if her Geass activates regardless of the way she dies, the only place she will return to is a point at which she's already asleep and unable to do anything further.]]

* KeystoneArmy: Zilkistan's military might stems from [[spoiler:Chamna's prophecies. Once Zero figures out how to neutralize her so that she can't reveal his plans to the army in advance, the Black Knights quickly regain the advantage.]]

* MentalTimeTravel: [[spoiler:Chamna's geass power actually just returns her mind 6 hours into the past each time she dies, instead of giving her the power to see in the future. Her plans for Nunnally involve using her blood connection to Charles to access C's World and expand the range of her powers.]]

* ResurrectionSickness: After being resurrected, Lelouch's state of mind is an EmptyShell who can't talk and gets easily scared. C.C. reveals that this is the result of his soul, memories, and personality remaining trapped in the collective unconsciousness after she resurrected him. So, she has to use the portal to C's world to fully restore him.

* ShadowArchetype: Like Lelouch, the BigBad Chamna had wanted to change the world for the better in the name of her disabled younger sibling. However, she has none of his [[TheFettered fetters]], and is even willing to harm complete innocents to achieve these goals.

* WaifProphet: Chamna, the Queen and Holy Priestess of Zilkistan, claims to have the power to see into the future. [[spoiler:It's actually a form of MentalTimeTravel Geass allowing her to go back in time six hours by committing suicide.]]

* WhenSheSmiles: [[spoiler:C.C. at the end of the film, especially when Lelouch explains he plans to change his name to L.L., which, according to the director, was Lelouch's way of proposing to her (i.e. taking on the name of your significant other).]]

* FreezeFrameBonus: C.C. was examing a map of what is South Asia in her tablet and she was looking at a marked dot to indicate a location in the southern part of Pakistan.

* BeneathNotice: Shirley's greatest asset. Given that almost nobody about knows her relationship to key figures such as Lelouch, Nunnally, and C.C., she's the only one who can move around without alerting intelligence agencies all over the world. [[spoiler:She played a critical role getting Lelouch's dead body out of Japan for C.C.'s half-successful resurrection attempt, and is the only one who can get in regular contact with her.]]

* DistressedDamsel: Nunnally spends the majority of the movie being in captivity by Kingdom of Zilkistan.

* DueToTheDead: Cafe Zero has video screens that depict fallen members of the Black Knights, including Rolo and Lelouch himself(as Zero).

* EmptyShell: Lelouch spends a sizable part of the movie with hardly any will of his own, equivalent to an infant or child, and needs C.C. to care for him.

* IllBoy: Shalio is paralyzed and blind, only able to pilot a Knightmare through specialized equipment. This has given him quite the inferiority complex, and he's desperate to become the best warrior in the world to protect Chamna.
