- Thanks to Executive Meddling, robots in The Matrix use humans as powerplants, even though just burning whatever they're feeding the humans would produce more energy. (The original script had humans used as Wetware CPUs).
This is indeed mind-numbingly stupid, but it doesn't really fail to conserve energy.
Twin Bird: Um...how not? What's wrong with it, if not the fact that they're getting more energy than they're putting in?
ccoa: Because they never say that they're getting more energy than they're putting in. In fact, the fact that they have fusion plants for backup implies they're not getting much if at all.
