Working Title: Added: Newspeak: From YKTTW
Johnny E: Oh, this needs a Newspeak translation. What's the best way to do that, Darth Wiki?
- On second thoughts that's a lot harder than I expected. It would be cool though, if anyone else wants to give it a try...
Pro-Mole: I've got to complain about the (now)last example, on testing animals: "hemorraging" means bleeding, it's a technical term. Can't complain about the rest, but does it really apply here?
- Ditto for "toxicant", there's a difference between ethically covering your arse and simply using technical terms; similar logic for the pronoun trouble. "Fasting" counts though, since its giving an existing word a new meaning in place of a more accurate but undesirable word.
Cambias: cut out more anti-animal research examples. Again, these are technical terms, not euphemisms or newspeak, plus the whole thing reeks of flamebait.
- In biomedical research, "starving" animals are referred to as "fasting." Similarly, the term for euthanasia of research animals was "sacrificed," though this usage is becoming outmoded.
