Trix Rabbi: I think "Ran Into A Door" would be a better name for this trope. I don't hear the Cut Himself Shaving one too often.

Andrew Leprich: Should this also go under Crime and Punishment Tropes?

Looney Toons: Yeah, sounds about right.

Andrew Leprich: Nice addition on adding in abused people who are afraid to admit it, completely forgot about that.

Ununnilium: Thankee thankee; I was reminded by a story where a girl who's superhero has an abuse counselor thinking she's abused due to her battle bruises and such.

Ununnilium: Took out the quote because it duplicates what's in the entry.

A similar example is the abused woman who "ran into a door", or the abused child who "fell off his bike". "Fell down the stairs" might be used in any of these cases, or (most commonly) if the victim was in the custody of the police at the time.

Andrew Leprich: Maybe it's because it's late at night, but I am simply not understanding the italicized part. Can anyone help me out?

Ununnilium: Police brutality. >>v

Andrew Leprich: Ah, so obvious now. Thanks.

Travis Wells: I'm not understanding the To Live And Die In LA example, I guess. How is that a reverse? It seems a straight example of this trope.

Mister Six: I think the person who submitted it thought that it had to be the target of violence who came up with the excuse, not the perpetrator.

Scrounge: Moved the ones that concern dead people to their new home in The Coroner Doth Protest Too Much

Desert Dragon: Has anyone else noticed that the Troper Tales are just filled with people getting in clumsy misshaps rather than trying to explain away the results of such?

Crowley: You're not alone. It seems most tropers have missed the point of the article (i.e. have read only the title.)

  • Skazka: Re. the Stargate Atlantis fanfic linked to: The NSFW-ness was specifically why I didn't want to link to it outright. It's got a warning, now, though. Even though I don't recall putting the link up, I apologize for anyone it offended, or given the fair point about kids being on TV Tropes, traumatized.

Should we have Ran Into A Door and Fell Down Some Stairs as redirects?
