Shire Nomad: Pulled the Order Of The Stick mention, since even it only mentioned levels in passing and that's with it being a direct homage to Dungeons And Dragons.

tbarrie: I pulled the following:

  • Villains And Vigilantes is a class-and-level system with only one class: the superhuman.
  • Mutants and Masterminds plays halfway like this in its first edition where level corresponded to point totals and capped what those points could be spent on and there were no classes. Second Edition pretty much dismisses this entirely. Now the power level is simply a cap set by the Gamemaster on what your points can be spent on.
  • Partially averted in Runescape - There aren't any designated classes. That said, be on the lookout for "Pures", who Min Max on combat to cheat the player-killing system.
If a system doesn't have a choice of classes, then it's not a class-and-level system. Gvien that there's a separate trope for Character Level I don't see any reason to include examples that only half-fit here.
