Working Title: Scientology Literature: From YKTTW
I don't know where to put this, but the personality test ad on this page made me lol. -Spriteless
The Stray: Doesn't anyone else find it hilarious that there are Scientology ads on this very page?
Paireon: Not only that, but I just saw a Tom Cruise ad for his official site! The irony is ever so delicious...
Trogga: Why was this renamed?
Wizard Joni: Apparently, the word "trope" is now verboten in titles.
You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion.
—Science-fiction author L. Ron Hubbard
Can we replace this with something actually relevant to the trope, instead of a Take That! that some anonymous wag ripped out of Hemingway's mouth?
Thinks Too Much: Is there a reason nobody mentioned, or even hotlinked to, the page we have describing what we mean? I know there are issues with vandalism, et cetera, but if we have that page why can't we make it clear in this one? I mean, sure, no need to say Viewers Are Morons, but... I don't like the idea of playing by some cult's rules and not accusing them outright. Am I just being dumb?
roothorick: Are there any examples that are NOT obvious parodies of scientology? You'd think this kind of design would be more common than that.
- I think the point is that the tropes here are semi-obvious, or at the very least, as soon as the author admits it you go "OHHHHH!"
