Emblem of Anti-Entropy
"Everyone knows it hasn't been easy for AE since the first day it was founded. In 1976, when we celebrating its 20th anniversary, I asked Professor Planck with this question: where will the future of AE take us? Back then, Schicksal was hunting us, and we had no footing ground outside America. The research on Selene was going nowhere. That's why I thought these unfavorable conditions were curbing the growth of our organization. However, the professor disagree. "The future of AE depends on every single of us." She said so pointing at her own heart. "If we fight Schicksal calmly and bravely, they won't be able to stop us. If we keep working hard, AE will grow strong. Also, if one day we can open everyone's eyes to the good in this world, humanity will defeat Honkai for sure. And that, I believe, is the AE spirit."
Welt Yang's' speech in celebration of the organization's 60th anniversary, Chapter 24: The Legion Theater (Act 2)

An organization founded in North America around the 60s. Like Schicksal, their primary aim is to respond against Honkai threats, and their technological level rivals that of Schicksal's. They primarily use robots as their frontline force. Despite their similar aims, the two organizations have some animosity against each other.

    General Tropes
  • The Fettered: Despite sharing the similar goals with Schicksal, most of its members (save for Cocolia) will never accept human sacrifices as they value every individual within their ranks and their personal approach to reach their goal.
  • Nice Guy: Most of its higher ups are well-intentioned and reasonable, and doesn't hesitate to help people in need when the situation arises.
  • Renegade Splinter Faction: Originally the North American branch of Schicksal, its members distanced themselves from Schicksal and created a new organization with the similar purpose with its former parent organization, but refuses to use Valkyries and opts for mechs instead. They also act in secrecy after being labelled as terrorists by Schicksal.

The "Sovereign" of Anti-Entropy, and the "First Herrscher" (aka "Herrscher of Logic/Reason"). His first in-game appearance is in Chapter 9-EX2, although he has been featured in the supplementary comics.

For tropes specific to him in Honkai: Star Rail, see here.

  • And the Adventure Continues: In Alien Space, Welt discovers the existence of an alternate version of Himeko from Honkai: Star Rail through Void Archives' detective work, leading him to realize that the Sky People are not only attacking planets but even parallel universes. He resolves to continue his journey to stop the Sky People from wreaking further havoc, and at the end of the comic the Sugars return to rescue the duo and open a road to a new galaxy-spanning journey, leading to his appearance in Star Rail.
  • Assist Character: In the mission after you rescued him in Post-Honkai Odyssey, he's not physically around, but he assists you from the back by using Star of Eden to gather enemies around so your team can beat them easily.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: While he's quite wise about it, deep down he desires to be a hero that saves the world, following the death of his "hero", Welt Joyce, where Joachim swore to him to follow his steps. He's said to repeatedly put himself in danger in battles against the Honkai.
  • Clark Kent Outfit: A special stigmata exclusive to the Chinese server that came as a bonus for purchasing a paperback copy of the Second Eruption comic reveals that Welt is very muscular underneath his clothes and clearly makes an effort to stay in shape.
  • Cool Old Guy: While scientists like Einstein and Tesla do not seem to have aged during the 60 odd years between Anti-Entropy's foundation and the present day, Welt looks the part and is clearly past his fifties when we see him in action during the 2nd Honkai War, having spent nearly a lifetime holding the power of the 1st Herrscher to help humanity and live up to Welt Joyce's legacy. He's also the producer of the in-universe 80s anime series Arahato, of which Siegfried is a fan. While he loses his original body during the war against Sirin, his ties to the Core of Reason allow him to reconstruct a younger body, which we see in every instance aside from the Second Eruption comic.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: In Ch. 11, it's implied that the "versions" of his younger self seen in the Sea of Quanta's "bubble universes" reflect his dark past, only with different people filling the roles/in different places.
    • World 1 shows him being a young boy Escaped from the Lab (Schicksal's labs, specifically), who's Covered in Scars and could barely control his Herrscher abilities.
    • World 2 shows him being one of the kids in an orphanage. Before he ended up there, his father was a scientist who performed inhuman experiments in order to try to bring his wife back alive, and then gets killed by a priest for his crimes, who would then take the young boy to said orphanage. He was bitter about having his father die in front of him, and the priest admitted that it's hard to call what he did as "right" or "wrong".
    • World 3 shows an alternate timeline where he could have gone off the deep end rather than stay a genuinely heroic individual, as demonstrated by killing Sirin, taking her cores and then turning on Schicksal and the Valkyries, slaughtering everyone, with only Bronya being able to stop him.
  • Dead Guy Junior: His name is an alias he puts on as a honor to the real 1st Herrscher. His real name is "Joachim Nokianvirtanen". Einstein and Tesla also calls him with his real name when the situation's serious. In a supplementary comic that takes place in 2nd Honkai War, Otto (who had history with the real Welt) was surprised that Welt is supposedly alive again; when the two formally met eye to eye, Otto figured it out, calling him "Welt II".
  • Distressed Dude: In Post-Honkai Odyssey, the initial drive for our heroes to go to St. Fountain is to look for him, who went there on a business trip and then mysteriously lost contact. He's found just a few missions later, and he ends up using his Star of Eden to save the team from falling off the broken bridge. The reason the contact with him was lost is that something in the city has disrupted any normal ways of long distance communication and fooled the satellite imagings.
  • Don't Touch It, You Idiot!: In the 2nd Honkai War, Theresa touched a strange huge sphere on the frozen tundra. Welt told her to not do so, as it is a "Honkai chrysalis". It's too late, though - when she walked back, multiple energy hands suddenly pulled Theresa into the sphere.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Before his formal appearance, he cameo'd in the "Summer Memories" event, in the special story set in 2006. He's only partly seen (through his clothing) in the ripped photo of school age Himeko, and behind the photo (on the frame's base) is the writing "Wel-". As revealed in Alien Space, he apparently was Himeko's teacher.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: As shown in the 2nd Eruption comic, his brown eyes became red with gold circle and gear design whenever he uses his Herrscher abilities.
  • Face Palm: When he felt exasperated at how Otto didn't taught Theresa all of the Oath of Judah's functions, he states it while doing this. Then when he saw Siegfried insisting to get in the "Honkai chrysalis" to save Theresa (who was just "abducted" into it) despite not knowing anything about it, he taught to himself that he has ran out of facepalms.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In the third bubble universe Bronya enters in the Sea of Quanta, he leads Anti-Entropy alone against Sirin and eventually absorbs her Herrscher core, only for him to turn on Schicksal and slaughter just about everyone out of revenge (because Schicksal slaughtered his comrades) without so much as an ounce of mercy.
  • Flight: As part of being a Herrscher, he can freely fly.
  • Fountain of Youth: At the end of ch. 10, he has been regressed into a child. It's presumably an effect of the Sea of Quanta that he's trapped in. Played with in that the "Joachim" that Bronya sees is apparently a "split" from the real Welt Young.
  • Gate Guardian: He (or more specifically the "image" of his younger self) acts as this in Ch. 11, specifically guarding the "space labyrinth" (that leads to the actual Sea of Quanta) that Bronya falls into. He also acts as Threshold Guardian for Bronya, with him throwing her towards the "bubble universes" in order to see how she would solve the problems in each one, and later telling her his aims, including warning her about the "Serpent".
  • Gravity Master: One of the most basic and common applications of his (copy of) Star of Eden is to multiply the gravity experienced by his target, which usually immobilizes them or brings them to their knees.
  • An Ice Person: His Stigmata set enhances the user's ice damage. While they're good on any ice Valkyrie that uses Charged Attack (such as Himeko's Kriegsmesser suit or Rita's Argent Knight suit), the set is best used on Herrscher of Reason (Bronya), quite fittingly.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: His Herrscher power is to replicate anything that he can understand and remember in his mind, from weapons to war vehicles. It also includes Divine Keys, as long as he's familiar enough with how they work; he primarily uses the replica of the Star of Eden. There's seemingly no limit to this replication power, especially when he goes all out; best seen in the fight against the 2nd Herrscher where he repeatedly creates tanks, fighter planes, etc and sends them at her, causing massive destruction. The power also allows him to do the inverse: dismantling anything so long as he understands how they're made/built.
  • King Incognito:
    • As the 2nd comicnote  and the AE Invasion comic both show, he's been disguising himself as a history teacher at St. Freya for a while, with only people like Einstein recognizing him on the spot. He was looking into infos about the Sea of Quanta in St. Freya's archives, which led to the experiment in the Eye of the Deep with Einstein. That said, his marked absence prompted Cocolia to take the organization's reins with the aid of Welt clones and establish herself as the de facto leader. He talks about it in one of the chats in Post-Honkai Odyssey, reminiscing how teaching St. Freya was like and remembering Kiana, Bronya, and the young Mei.
    • In the "Alien Space" comic, in the part that takes place in 2005, he also posed as a substitute lecturer in Caltech University, teaching Himeko's class.
  • Leave Him to Me!: In 2nd Eruption comic, he and Siegfried confronts Sirin and an unconscious Theresa. He tells Siegfried to take Theresa away to the tower to get her treated while he'll handle Sirin. When Siegfried protests that Welt cannot do it alone, Welt has to remind him that Theresa needed help.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: His Herrscher core houses over three hundred thousand souls, including Welt Joyce himself. Welt notes how it makes it impossible for him to even sleep, but he doesn't regret it, seeing how he got to experience the beauties of humanity.
  • Nom de Mom: "Yang" is apparently his mother's surname.
  • Not Quite Dead: Due to how Herrscher Cores work, even his body disintegrating is not enough for him to be completely gone. During the 2nd Honkai War, Sirin stops him from detonating the Core of Reason via Explosive Overclocking, even absorbing it into herself to gain his powers. However, his consciousness still lingers around to thwart her plans, especially when Fu Hua inadvertently frees him from the Will of Honkai during her fight with Sirin in Fenghuang Down's dream world. His sheer force of will later allows him to rescue Siegfried and Cecilia from a Lotus-Eater Machine, as well as move the Arhat around to protect them from Sirin's Superpower Meltdown. In ch. 11, even after he was said to be "dispersed" into the Sea of Quanta, he's later revealed to still be fine inside his Herrscher Core. Even more than other Herrschers, his power allows him to reconstruct his own body while the other Herrschers need to possess an existing body to work; this happens both in 2nd Honkai War and in ch. 12, the latter after Kevin plucks the Core of Reason out of Bronya's body. Because of multiple deaths he experienced, in APHO, he said true death has no meaning to him.
  • Older Than They Look: While he does grow to be adult-looking while his scientist acquaintances (who are older than him) still have the look of young teens, he still looks like someone in his early 30s at best even though he's at his 40s at the present; he doesn't change much in Post-Honkai Odyssey, which takes place 8 years after the end of the battle of Honkai. The "Alien Space" comic has Himeko's friend talking about it; she said that while many of the girls think Welt (their lecturer) looked "fine", he talks rather plainly, as if he's older than his looks suggested.
  • Meaningful Name: Welt means world in German. Combined it with another word: Herrscher (ruler), it will become Weltherrscher. Fitting for the Sovereign of Anti-Entropy.
  • Passing the Torch: When he was a kid, he inherited his "Welt" title and his Herrscher core from the real 1st Herrscher, Welt Joyce, who was dying back then. Then in ch. 11, he has Bronya inherit his power. After the two escape to the real world (from the Sea of Quanta), he starts properly teaching her how to use his power. When Roza and Lili come to them, the two think that Bronya might become a new "Welt", but she says that she will keep her name.
  • Pet the Dog: In one of the supplementary comics, when the young Siegfried was concerned with Cecilia taking too long back in the arcades, he went to find her, only to meet Welt, who told him to "pretend he never meets her". Angered, Siegfried tried attacking him, but the latter quickly brought him down, but not before calling Welt "trampler of people's dreams". When Siegfried was unconscious, Einstein came back to Welt, saying that she's done with taking Cecilia's blood samples and asked him if he wanted to bring Cecilia with them. He refused, saying that said woman and the unconscious guy have an unfulfilled promise and that they have no right to trample on their dreams.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: He first showcases his powers in the Second Eruption comic by annihilating the hundreds of Honkai beasts that were swarming Babylon Tower. And even then, that's just a fraction of his actual power. When he first fights Sirin, he displays even greater destructive power by creating scores of tanks, military aircraft and even battleships to fire at the 2nd Herrscher. In World 3 of Chapter 11, it's implied he delivered an outright Curb-Stomp Battle against her, though this ends up being a bad thing, as he steals her core and goes on a rampage that results in mass murder.
  • Retired Badass: In Post-Honkai Odyssey, after the battle against the Honkai is over, he's mentioned to have been retired from Anti-Entropy and is now working as the head of an anime studio. He still at least has Star of Eden with him when in a pinch.
  • Right in Front of Me: In the "Alien Space" comic, when he was teaching in Himeko's class, she and her friend whispered about Welt, and in particular, how Himeko seemed to be smitten with him (after they went to New Mexico together to try to find aliens, only to find that it was a "hoax"). Thing is, Welt's hearing is much stronger than an average person's and he can hear their talk perfectly.
  • Rousing Speech: He delivers this in the most cautiously hopeful one near the end of the second act of Chapter 24.
Welt: "We all know it hasn't been easy for AE since the first day it was founded. In 1976, when we were celebrating its 20th anniversary, I asked Professor Planck, one of the founders this question: where will the future of AE take us? Back then, Schicksal was hunting us, and we had no footing outside America. The research on Selene was going nowhere. I thought these unfavorable conditions were curbing the growth of our organization. But the professor disagree. "The future of AE depends on every single of us." She said so pointing at her own heart. "If we fight Schicksal calmly and bravely, they won't be able to stop us. If we keep working hard, AE will grow strong. And if one day we can open everyone's eyes to the good in this world, humanity will defeat Honkai for sure." And that, I believe, is the AE spirit."
  • Spell My Name With An S: His surname is either "Young" or "Yang", though his Stigmata set, the comics and Post-Honkai Odyssey's English localization go with the latter. Considering that in Japanese version, his name is read as "Welt You", it's likely that "Yang" is the more proper spelling.note
  • Uncertain Doom:
    • In an early chapter of 2nd Eruption comic, Sirin seemingly defeated him and then warped him towards Benares' mouth, leaving behind only his glasses. However, in the next chapter, he tore his way out through the beast's throat.
    • Chapter 9-EX2 shows one of Einstein's research logs (as seen through Bronya). It depicted the last time Einstein was with Welt, i.e some time after the 2nd Honkai War. The two were conducting an experiment with the "Eye of the Deep" (implied to be some kind of "gate/door") before an anomaly occurred; Welt tried to stop it with Star of Eden's gravity powers, but they ended up getting sucked into a strange place called "Sea of Quanta". There, they met a giant, black snake-like being called "World Serpent", which was the cause of the aforementioned anomaly. Welt tried fighting this creature, while telling Einstein to escape with the dimensional anchoring that they've set up. In the present, Einstein claims that Welt was still in "the Deep", but his fate remains unknown.
    • Ch. 11 makes it somewhat clearer: He ended up using the last of his powers to create a "barrier" (in form of the strange dimension that Bronya entered) that separates the Sea of Quanta from the real world in order to prevent the World Serpent from going out and causing calamity. He's ultimately "dispersed" into the Sea of Quanta, leaving only his Herrscher Core as the Cosmic Keystone for the barrier, and the "image" of his younger self around as the guardian of the barrier, who would then guide Bronya around. In ch. 12, he's revealed to still be alive, confined in his Herrscher Core that Bronya is currently using, and talking directly to her. At the climax of said chapter, after Kevin takes the Core of Reason from her, Welt rematerializes himself with the core's power to try to take Kevin's Gem of Desire (though he failed). He then gets separated from Bronya and Seele due to the the Sea of Quanta becoming unstable; Bronya tells the contacting Einstein that he's still alive, and Einstein tries to have someone search and rescue him. In the end of the chapter, he's saved and is on board of the Hyperion.
  • Weak, but Skilled: In comparison to other Herrschers, Welt cannot draw the full power of his Core due to being a transplant from the original Welt Joyce and has lower Honkai compability compared to other herrschers thus won't last long in a battle of raw power against Sirin. However, he makes up for it by being extemely ingenious with the various applications of his limited Herrscher powers. For example, he once fooled Sirin on the Moon by baiting her into fighting back against Star of Eden's black hole, knowing full well that making her stay near its event horizon would dilate time to the point where one minute roughly equals an hour in real time.
  • We Need a Distraction: Around the beginning of the 2nd Honkai War, he keeps sending war machine after war machine after Sirin, even as she learned to distort space to redirect his attacks back at him. Beneath all the chaos, however, he secretly sends a message to Einstein and Tesla to launch the "silver bullet" at Sirin. As she captures him, he lets out a confident grin... as the "bullet" descends from the sky at very high speed. The shocked Sirin only barely notices it and abruptly uses her power to redirect it beneath the earth. It still causes a huge explosion that damages her badly (while Welt protects himself in time).
  • White Sheep: The 2nd Herrscher called him a "Honkai renegade". This is because he still has his human consciousness and is fighting for humanity, but due to this, he has no control over Honkai Beasts unlike other Herrschers. Somewhat fittingly, his power is also the most "human" out of the Herrschers: the representation of human ingenuity. This would later apply to Bronya as well, after she inherits the Herrscher Core from him.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Welt came incredibly well prepared in order to deal with Sirin during the 2nd Honkai War; he always planned things in advance with a rough knowledge of the 2nd Herrscher's growing potential, and also had a backup plan in case the original one went south. His trek on the Moon with Siegfried was more about retrieving Soul Steel shards that contained knowledge that could be useful against the Herrscher, with Welt himself acting as a decoy against Sirin, knowing that his chances of going toe-to-toe with her are next to zero. Even after his physical body is destroyed, his consciousness is able to plan out additional steps to thwart Sirin from inside her mind.
  • You Owe Me: After he saved Siegfried from Assaka, he said this to the latter. This was after Siegfried told him to just sit back and not get in his way, only for Siegfried to end up in a pinch. The Schicksal Knight had to politely ask Welt for help; the latter cherishes this opportunity to pay him back.

Scientists

    Einstein

Voiced by: Ziyi Qin * (Chinese), Mitsuki Saiga (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/400px_einstein_t.png

Lizelle Albert Einstein is one of the head scientists of Anti-Entropy. She appeared in Chapter 8, assisting Theresa and the other Schicksal Valkyries from the Hyperion when they joined forces with Anti-Entropy to take on Otto.

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In the "Gemina Invasions" event in version 4.1, in the beginning, Einstein tells Tesla that in case she didn't understand what happened, she would have to read the "Gemina Invasions" spinoff comic. Tesla lampshades it, asking Einstein who she's actually talking to.
  • Charged Attack: Her "normal" stigmata set's individual effects are about strengthening the user's charged attacks in different ways, as well as some bonus effects.
  • Critical Status Buff: One of Einstein T's effects is to give the user increased power when their health is below 33%. Before the Balance Buff, all of her "normal" stigmata's effects only activate when the user's health is below 33%.
  • Damage Reduction: Her "normal" stigmata's 3-Set Bonus will reduce the damage taken when the user is close to the enemies.
  • Ditzy Genius: As Eins says, Einstein could sometimes be eccentric and says nonsensical things, but she's a good girl at heart.
  • Faking the Dead: Official Schicksal records state that she died in a freak accident, but she probably made that up when transitioning to Anti-Entropy. This allows her to hack through the highest security clearances of Schicksal's archives thanks to a 60-year-old special bypass that Otto couldn't get rid of.
  • Famous Ancestor: She has the real Albert Einstein as her ancestor.
  • In-Series Nickname: Tesla usually calls her "Mophead".
  • Morality Pet: In ch. 11, as implied in the 3rd bubble universe, without her, Tesla and the rest of Anti-Entropy's founders alivenote , the leader of Anti-Entropy goes into the full-blown Roaring Rampage of Revenge, bent on eradicating Schicksal and willingly giving in to the Honkai influence.
  • Older Than They Look: She was active back in the 50s when the First Herrscher was first manifested, and stays alive to the present without looking any older. She knows both the 1st Herrscher and his successor personally, and is one of the founders of Anti-Entropy. At the very least, she'd be in her seventies.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue towards Tesla's red. Einstein is calm, collected, and level-headed, and her dialogue tends to be Spock Speak. This comparison even extends to their respective Titans; while Eistein's is grey-coloured and analytical, Tesla's is red and flustered by the shoddy landing.
Einstein's Titan: Landing trajectory offset by 0.18 degrees. Revisiting algorithms...
Tesla's Titan: KYAA! Landing compromised by mushy snow.
  • Robot Buddy: She owns a robot drone named Eins. It is your main companion during the Raid stages "Matrix Space", and it later is accompanied by another drone called Zwei. Her Einstein Band stigmata, aside from giving the user general stat buffs, also gives them an Attack Drone modeled after Eins that attacks in the similar way Eins does in Matrix Raid. In the 2nd Honkai War, she used multiple copies of Eins to decimate a lot of Honkai Beasts.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: In the Eisntein Band stigmata set, she wears different dresses that make her more beautiful overall compared to her normal self.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Her "normal" stigmata's 2-Set Bonus increases the user's attack power the further they are from the enemy.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Her first name is occasionally spelled as "Lieserl".
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: While she is surveying the deeper parts of The Deep in ch. 10, Eins stumbles upon Cocolia talking with a shadowy figure. Another one (that looks similar to "Gray Serpent") appeared behind Einstein herself with gun in hand and seemingly shot her to unconsciousness. She went missing the next day. Ch. 12 reveals that she's still alive, seemingly being put inside a cell, where she meets Schrodinger, who was thought to be missing after an experiment with the Sea of Quanta. Einstein later appears again in person to meet Theresa and Cocolia with Schrodinger in tow, implying that the latter freed her.

    Tesla

Voiced by: Xiaotong Le * (Chinese), Ayana Taketatsu (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/400px_nikola_tesla_b_3.png

Frederika Nikola Tesla is another of Anti-Entropy's head scientists. Like Einstein, she joined up with Theresa's efforts to stop Otto's plans. She would later help Himeko in ch. 9 and then keep allying with Theresa in later chapters.

  • Ace Custom: In the 2nd Honkai War, her custom Titan Mecha is red-colored compared to the standard dark gray.
  • Bound and Gagged:
    • She gets subjected to this by Rita during the background events of ch. 9 to try to stymie her from interfering with Otto activating Kiana's Herrscher side. As Himeko is freeing her, she angrily remarks on how Rita was apologizing as she was tying her to the chair, and even put some perfume on the scarf used as the gag. Himeko, for her part, is very impressed by the beauty of the knotwork.
    • In the middle ch. 16, when Mei comes back to the Roost after running away from Benares, she finds Tesla missing from the place (she's supposed to keep guard while Mei was away). Later, Raven reveals that she has bound and hidden Tesla inside one of the shed. Raven ran to Tesla first when she came to the Roost, and a misunderstanding occured, and Tesla ended up yelling "some impolite words" that Raven had to gag her out of concern for the kids around.
  • Chain Lightning: The Tesla Band stigmata's 2-Set Bonus effect makes the user's normal attack after 4 hits (cooldown 15 seconds) cause lightning to jump from the target to the nearest enemies, up to 3, and paralyze them. Its 3-set bonus effect strengthens the power of said lightning.
  • Destructive Savior: In "Gemina Invasions: Deep Paradise Arc" event, while Tesla is the protagonist who's trying to stop Roza and Lili's antics from ruining the Sea of Quanta's worlds, she ended up using her "villainous mind" (she used to be a "bad girl" in the "Gemina Invasions" spinoff comic) to cause numerous damage to the Deep Paradise park as she goes through her (mis)adventures. Durandal, the owner of the park, points this out at the climax of the event.
  • Dramatic Irony: In ch. 17, when Kiana and Mei bring Benares to the flying ship Helios, Tesla reacts by saying: "We took in cyborgs, refugees, and now we're getting a huge dragon. What's next? A World Serpent officer?" Little does she know that later, Mei ends up joining the World Serpent, although she also goes away from the Helios after that.
  • Famous Ancestor: She's one of the real Nikola Tesla's descendants.
  • Fiery Redhead: Among the Anti-Entropy's scientists, she's the redhead and the most vocal and proud about her stuff.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Oddly with Nancy T. Edison who currently works with opposing faction. To a lesser extent, she also has one with Einstein.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has her hair tied to this style, presumably to mark her as less mature.
  • Injured Vulnerability: The "normal" Tesla stigmata's individual effects are about increasing damage dealt against enemies under paralyzed, frozen or stunned status. Their 2-Set Bonus effect also increases damage against enemies with their shield gauge emptied.
  • Mad Scientist: Downplayed. She's more of a loudmouth with rather bold (and at times nonsensical) scientific ideas, but she isn't outright mad.
  • Mini-Mecha: Her custom mechs tend to be red-colored. In particular, she has a special mech that primarily appears in the Schicksal HQ Open World (and later ch. 16) that has more firepower than any other mecha of similar build. It has dual rotary cannons, homing missile launchers, and a huge main turret that turns it into a stationary turret mode.
  • Mundane Utility: Mei uses her special mech in ch. 16 to carry boxes of curry (that Mei cooks herself) to the people in the Roost. Though it helps that she's also fighting Honkai Beasts along the way with it.
  • Older Than They Look: Like Einstein, it's implied that she has lived for much longer than her young look suggests. Since she looks the same as when she founded Anti-Entropy in 1955, she's at least in her seventies despite looking like a teenage girl.
  • Power Fist: She always wears a mechanical gauntlet on her left hand.
  • Professor Guinea Pig: In chapter 9, she manages to replicate an anti-Honkai serum from the Schicksal's database. To test it, she intentionally infects herself with some Honkai energy, then uses a bit of the serum on herself. Honkai infection lines appear on her hand, but after a few seconds, they disappear.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red towards Einstein's blue. She is hot-headed, brash, and quite the loudmouth, and her dialogue is much less formal. This can be seen with their interactions with Mei: while Einstein is usually cold and insensitive (through no fault of her own), Tesla frequently tries to empathize with Mei and comfort her with her words whenever Mei's feeling down; it helped that they've been together for a few months in Helios. Later, after the events of ch. 17note , Tesla ponders about what Mei ended up doing (i.e joining the World Serpent) and wonders if it's their fault (for not being able to find a way to help Kiana). She literally beats herself up over it, with Einstein telling her that doing so isn't going to help; she says that they're going to talk about it with their Sovereign (Welt) to try to find a solution to this whole mess, and that it's not the time for regrets.
  • Robot Buddy: Like Einstein, she also has drones, 3 in her case.
  • Running Gag: Ever since her and Rita's "interaction" in ch. 9, quite a number of events have them interact again, where Tesla feels sick whenever she has to deal with the maid. She also constantly calls Rita "perv maid".
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: She wears more beautiful dresses in the Tesla Band stigmata set.
  • Shock and Awe: Her Tesla Band set is mainly used to strengthen your lightning-elemental Valkyries. Its B version gives the user extra lightning damage in their attacks and its 3-Set Bonus gives another extra lightning damage. The "top" part of her other set boosts damage against paralyzed enemies, a debuff mostly given by lightning users like Lightning Empress, Hawk of the Fog or Phantom Iron.
  • Sounds of Science: Unlike the serious Einstein, Tesla talks a lot and keeps gloating about her intelligence. Events usually label her as "Noisy Red-haired Girl".

    Schrodinger

Voiced by: Zhixiao Liu * (Chinese), Megumi Han (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/schrodinger_t_7.png

Erwin Schrodinger is one of the five founding scientists of Anti-Entropy along with Einstein, Tesla, Edison and Planck. Prior to the game's story, she performed an experiment that ended up sucking her into the Sea of Quanta, where she found a plethora of information, notably the origins of the Equipment: Living Form (or ELF).

  • Big Damn Heroes: She shows up near the end of ch. 12, locating Bronya and Seele when the Sea of Quanta starts becoming unstable. Einstein then activates the Eye of the Deep to open a portal for them. Previously, when Einstein is supposedly incarcerated after being attacked by the Gray Serpent, Schrodinger shows up outside Einstein's cell and then opens it for her.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: Schrodinger M stigma's effect is to reduce the cooldown of Ultimate Evasion or Ultimate Skill by up to 51%, with a 50% chance.
  • Critical Failure: What makes the regular Schrodinger stigmata set Awesome, but Impractical is that, barring the T version, the other versions (and the 2-set bonus) all have a 50-50 chance to cause a negative effect instead of a positive one (like taking increased damage, having increased cooldown on Ultimate Evasion or Ultimate Skill, or getting no SP at all from attacks).
  • Critical Hit: In a different way from normal critical hits in the game—Schrodinger T stigma's effect is that every 6 seconds, any basic (i.e non-Ultimate or Burst) attacks will deal either 205% or 52% extra damage (the chance is 50-50) for a short period (around a second). This is good for characters with slow attack rate and/or powerful branch/charged attacks.
  • Dimensional Traveler: When she's trapped in the Sea of Quanta, she traveled from one bubble universe to another, seeing the vast amount of worlds and their differences.
  • Gathering Steam: The effects of the Schrodinger Band stigmata set's pieces go like this: it buffs each attack that hits (the buffs differ for each piece) and the buffs stack for up to 7 times (the max), after which the user will gain an extra buff (differs for each piece) for 5 seconds (7 if you use 2 pieces together). After those seconds passed, all of the buffs will be gone and the user would have to build it again.
  • Irony: After she went missing in the Sea of Quanta due to a disastrous experiment on the Eye of the Deep, she ended up becoming a half-quantum being, just like the concept of Schrödinger's Cat.
  • Liminal Being: This is what she ended up being after an experiment Gone Horribly Wrong. Half of her body is normal, the other half is semi-transparent due to being in a quantum state.
  • Secret-Keeper: After Schrodinger watches the Previous Era Einstein's recording in the ELFs' world which shows the ELFs' past lives, she decides to delete the recordings, seemingly agreeing with Einstein that the ELFs deserve their peaceful life and thus don't have to remember about their violent past.

Cocolia Orphanage

An orphanage led by Cocolia, an ex-Soviet military who managed to gain a lot of influence within Anti-Entropy. While not all of the orphans work for the organization, they still have ties to Cocolia.

The Arc Villain of Chapters 3 to 4. One of the high-ranking members of Anti-Entropy, and the current owner of ME Corp after its previous owner - Mei's father - was arrested. She also ran an orphanage in which she raised and became a foster mother of many lost children, including Bronya and Seele. She would later make a more physical appearance in Chapter 10 onward.

  • Assassin Outclassin': She once was a target for assassination by Bronya, but she then discovered Bronya herself and cornered her. She ended up adopting Bronya, too.
  • Assist Character: Her Stigmata set are all about strengthening your summoned entities, as well as strengthening the user as long as said summoned entity is around. It's almost tailor-made for Wolf's Dawn (Bronya) as her Project Bunny is almost always out as a "summoned entity", but it can also work for Dimension Breaker (Bronya) with her Ultimate Skill, Shadow Dash (Mei) and her shadow clones, Phantom Iron (Rita) and her Stalker Carbon robot, or Bright Knight Excelsis (Durandal) and her King and Queen.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In ch. 12, she sends out a few Titan mechs to defend Theresa and Roza against Gray Serpent (in Assaka form). She only meant to hold the beast back so Theresa can bring Roza to safety, but the principal insists on saving Lili (who had been absorbed into Assaka just before) as well. The Titans' defense is short-lived, though.
  • Deal with the Devil: Ch. 12 reveals in a flashback that she made a deal with the Gray Serpent to find a way to save Seele. In return, he wants her to help him "save his kin" by opening the Eye of the Deep. This is why she sends Hyperion a distress call in order to ask for help, leading to ch. 10.
  • Enemy Mine: In ch. 9-EX2 she asks the Valkyrie team for cooperation in preventing the Gem of Desire from falling into Schicksal's hands.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She may be ruthless to many people, but as she admitted herself, she's soft on children (especially orphans). While she subjected many of her foster children into various experiments for Anti-Entropy, she only did so in order to ensure her children's survival in the future, she always tries to choose better potential subjects, and she has enough restraint to stop the project in question if it's proven to be infeasiblenote . Contrast with Otto and Schicksal who kidnapped children and imprisoned them in dark places hidden to the public for their experiments (which tend to be rather gruesome), and went rather far with a "the end justifies the means" mindset.
  • Evil Running Good: Similar to Otto Apocalypse, but to an arguably lesser extent. While Welt was absent, she basically took charge of Anti-Entropy, and while she still intended to use Anti-Entropy's resources to destroy the Honkai, her methods were highly questionable at best, or often downright evil.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Chapter 11 features a simulation of a possible Alternate Universe where Cecilia Schariac survived the Second Eruption and founded St. Freya. One of the main differences, much to Bronya's surprise, is Cocolia was inspired by Cecilia to become a Valkyrie and start teaching at the school.
  • Kick the Dog: She lets Wendy utter her parting words into a recording, shortly before her apparent death by having her Gem of Desire plucked out of her to be used to power up Wotan. Kiana is understandably angered at this.
  • Mama Bear: Cocolia is fiercely protective of the children she raised in the orphanage, and they in turn look up to her, calling her "Matushka" ("Okaa-sama" in the Japanese voiceover, and "Mama" in the Chinese). When she learns in Chapter 12 that Bronya plunged into the Sea of Quanta by herself, she starts having doubts on the deal she made with Grey Serpent to open the gate to the Eye of the Deep. Grey Serpent tries to pull a "Not So Different" Remark on Cocolia, noting the lengths at which both of them are willing to go to each their objectives. Cocolia, reflecting back on Bronya's earlier disappointment at her Matushka's actions, decides she's having none of it and promptly pulls her gun on Grey Serpent.
  • The Mole: In ch. 9-EX2, Einstein and Tesla talk about Cocolia with the Valkyries. After the 2nd Honkai War, Anti-Entropy formed contracts with many companies in order to support them, one of them being Mikoyan Design Bureau. However, the Anti-Entropy designs and products later got leaked, leading them to suspect an "infiltrator" among their ranks, one of them being Cocolia, who joined the group around the same time period. Cocolia herself is acting rather shadily in both this chapter and on Chapter 10. After the events of ch. 12, she's put in the brig by Einstein and others for her misdeeds towards the group (including dealing with and sharing critical information with another group); she doesn't resist.
  • Mole in Charge: Following Welt's disappearance around 1 year before the game starts, she assumes the position of Anti Entropy's sovereign, using the Welt clone(s) as a Decoy Leader. The group became shadier under her command.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: Cocolia is a hardened ex-Spetznaz captain who did her best to fight against the Russian government's inherent corruption and neglect of orphaned children, even opening an orphanage to take care of younger girls like Bronya, Seele and the Olenyeva twins. While she's not superhuman like the Valkyries, she easily eliminates any assassin sent after her, even outmaneuvering Bronya during their first encounter. Some people opposing her have taken to calling her a demoness for this reason.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's the most blatantly fanservicey NPC in the game, as her dress's low-cut, off-the-shoulders top makes clear that she's bustier than even Himeko and is also slit almost to her hip, showing off her legs. This is evident in her in-game sprites but is even more obvious in her Stigmata pieces.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: Deconstructed. In the past, Cocolia tried to rat out her superior Alexey when she caught him stealing weapons to sell them to the black market, believing that people like him were contributing to the Soviet Union's fracture and the inability to support orphanages like the one she grew up in. This got her arrested instead, and she got an earful from the colonel about how Moscow didn't care about Siberia anyway and shady activities were the only way to gain enough money to survive.
  • Oh, Crap!: In story Chapter 4, upon knowing what Bronya is trying to do, she begs the latter to stop in panic.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: She was once an orphan herself (and implied to be a Child Soldier, too), so she founded her orphanage and adopted many orphans from the war across her country (Russia), so that they wouldn't suffer like she did.
  • Parental Substitute: Being the foster mother for an orphanage, she's one for Bronya, Seele, Sin Mal and many others. The children call her "Matushka".
  • The Reveal: Einstein mentions to Mei that Cocolia was the one who tricked Mei's father into getting arrested and then had Mei experimented upon to become a Herrscher. Mei already knows this, though.
  • Seeks Another's Resurrection: The same as Bronya—she is trying to bring Seele back from the Sea of Quanta.
  • So Proud of You: She spells it out to Bronya at the end of ch. 12. She has done many things, including those she wasn't proud of and those she regretted, but she knows she'll never regret one thing: bringing Bronya to her orphanage. She then expresses her pride over her foster daughter.
  • Spell My Name With An S: Her Stigmata set spells her name as "Cocolia", but in different parts of the game she has also been called "Cacalia" or "Kukuria" or "Kakaria". In the Azure Waters comic, her name in cyrillic is spelled as "Кукурия" (Kukuriya).
  • Token Evil Teammate: While Anti-Entropy consists mostly of decent enough people, she is the most questionable among them, as she tends to do things behind their back, her fellow Anti-Entropy members don't trust her much.
  • Villain Override: She ends up doing this at the end of the "Selene battleship" scenarionote  and in the middle of Chapters 3 and 4, both to Bronya in order to attack her friends.
  • The Voice: In the early chapters of the game (2 to 4) she's only heard talking from afar, mostly towards Bronya, but in ch. 4 she's also talking to the other Valkyries who infiltrated the ME Corp building.
  • You Are Not Alone: In the end of ch. 12, she points out that Bronya tends to do everything by herself back in the orphanage. When she tells Bronya to take care of the orphanage for her, she has to remind her foster daughter that her friends are there and willing to help her.
Cocolia: You walk alone with your eyes set on the horizon, but you forgot about your friends walking by your side. They love you and look after you. You have what it takes to band them together. Remember to wait and help them. Home is where everyone's around.

Blueberry Blitz

A pair of twins who belonged to Cocolia's orphanage, and two of Bronya's friends. They used to be normal girls until injuries from Honkai Beasts led to them being put into an experiment where Honkai Beast cells were grafted into them. Nowadays they act on Cocolia's orders.

  • Age-Inappropriate Dress: The twins are even younger than Bronya and are running around in elaborate-looking babydolls and stockings. This is actually bowdlerized in-game, as their models' tops have a panel that mostly covers their bellies that isn't there in official artworks.
  • Angsty Surviving Twin: Roza briefly undergoes this when Lili gets absorbed into the Gray Serpent's Assaka form in Ch. 12. But Theresa points out that Lili still can be saved as she isn't completely fused yet. Roza doubts that she can save her sister, but after Theresa's assistance and encouragement, Roza manages to cut the Gray Serpent into fine pieces (something that she claims Lili is better at doing)note  and finally save Lili.
  • Backported Development: The event "Seele's Diary" is set in the past, back before Rozaliya and Liliya got their enhancements that gave them horns and tails of Honkai Beasts, but they appear in the story with the 3D models of their playable appearances, i.e after their enhancements. The explanation for this is that, in the flashback story, they're apparently "props" made by Roza to enhance her unique persona as a superstar.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Despite her silly antics, Roza dilligently looks after Lili, particularly about her health.
  • Bio-Augmentation: They have been modified by Cocolia's group to exhibit Honkai Beast traits, from horns to tails.
  • Book Dumb: Rozaliya is quite weak in academics like Kiana, contrasting Liliya who gets perfect scores constantly.
  • Caps Lock: Roza's skill names are all written in capital letters, fitting her abrasive personality.
  • Casting Gag: Paimon from Genshin Impact shares the same voice actress (in both Chinese and Japanese) as Rozaliya; so naturally, the two characters meet each other in the crossover event with Genshin, with Rozaliya finding it weird that their voices sound the same but Paimon pointing out that she can’t know that since there are no voiceovers in this event.
  • Cloud Cuckoolanders Minder: Lili has to rein Roza in, or at least do damage control (like talking to the people affected), whenever Roza is doing her usual antics.
  • Counter-Attack: Liliya's Ultimate Skill has her do a defensive stance. If she's struck (or after a few seconds passing) she'll do a wide sideways slash. If timed right before an enemy's attack, the counter attack will be more powerful and briefly activates Time Fracture − the cooldown time before reusing the ultimate will be much shorter too (5 seconds instead of 15)
  • Death-Activated Superpower: Roza has a passive that activates when she dies, but only if you also bring Lili; Lili will switch in and Roza will heal some of her HP. This can only occur once per battle.
  • Death from Above:
    • Lili's Charged Attack has her jump up, then fall to a designated place (you can move the circle before you release the button) with a Sword Plant, dealing damage in a circular area. It requires her gauge to be full (by normal attacks), but said attack can deal high damage to shields. Her QTE also has her fall down with a rolling slash.
    • Roza's QTE has her do a diving attack from above headfirst.
  • Defense Mechanism Superpower: Lili's QTE can be activated by having your current character take a hit (even if no damage occured).
  • Deflector Shields: Roza's Ultimate Evasion effect gives her a temporary shield that can block certain amounts of damage.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Making the most use of Liliya's Blueberry Blitz battlesuit requires triggering her Ultimate at the moment of an enemy's attack to increase its damage, restore some of her SP, reduce her Ultimate's cool down, and activate Time Fracture. Since you only have 0.5 seconds worth of wiggle room and different enemies have different timings, this is difficult to do consistently, especially with a laggy phone. However, if you do master it, you'll have the most damaging Physical Mecha battlesuit in your hands at the time of her release.
  • Dimensional Traveler: The "Gemina Invasions" comic establishes them as travelers of bubble universes, where they create wacky hijinks wherever they go. "Gemina Invasions: Deep Paradise Arc" event brings their story into the game, where they messed with the Eye of the Deep in one bubble universe and caused dimensional anomalies in other worlds, and it's up to Dr. Tesla to stop them (courtesy of Einstein tricking her to go out). The end of the event has them go into another dimensional hole, leading them to - of all things - the "Honkai Kingdoms" world, appearing in place of Kongming's summons.
  • Diving Save: In Ch. 12, Gray Serpent (as Assaka) is about to grab Roza, but Lili quickly pushes her away. He ended up grabbing Lili instead and assimilates her into his body.
  • Emergency Transformation: According to them, the modifications made to their bodies were done to save them after they were injured by Honkai Beasts.
  • Expy: With Roza's Little Bit Beastly look (especially with her tail and horn), petite body, pink color scheme and obsession with being an idol, she's the game's sendoff to Elizabeth Bathory. Also in various events, Roza's role (shared with Lili) is often to be unwittingly used by the bad guy, only for her to screw up and ruin their plans by accident, much like Liz.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Played for laughs. In the Schicksal side portion of the "Honkai Kingdoms" event story, they had no problems eating Kaslana-made dishes and they even commented how realistic their "Bonsai cake" (which is actually not even a cake but just bonsai on a pot) is while chomping it down.
  • Flashy Teleportation: Their dash move is them "sinking" into bright light on the ground (akin to their shadows), then moving the light around before jumping out of it. It allows them to pass through enemies.
  • Food as Bribe: Strictly speaking, there's no bribing involved, but Roza agrees to be Theresa's pupil after seeing the tasty foods aboard the Hyperion.
  • The Glomp: Roza does this to Bronya after meeting her again in the end of ch. 12. She ended up hugging Bronya too hard, and Einstein has to tell Seele to bring her away.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: They are not called "Vodka Girls" without a reason. They chug vodka a lot, though the vodka in question is stated to be somehow non-alcoholic. The names for their battlesuits are also based on drinks, courtesy of Rozaliya.
  • Harmless Villain: In the "Odd Drifter" event, they play the part of the villain in the side-story where they try multiple times to capture the Captain for unknown reasons...except that they tend to fail even before the Captain recognizes them, so much that even the other girls pity the two.
  • Healing Factor: At rank SS, Rozaliya can slowly heal her HP whenever there are enemies around her.
  • Hostile Show Takeover: In the "St. Freya Fiesta" event, the two sabotage the party that Theresa is making and turn it into "St. Vodka Fiesta". You, as the Captain, have to help Theresa with investigating, and many of the event's interaction stages have you running into the twins (especially Roza) and trying to thwart their antics.
  • Idle Animation: Liliya's animation has her planting her sword (which is taller than her) in the ground and resting on it for a nap, reminding us that she gets tired easily.
  • Idol Singer: Both of them apparently had a dream of becoming idols since they were little, although Roza is more openly ambitious about it. In the "Honkai Kingdoms" event, in the Emberya faction's story, they eventually become an idol group and then make "Grand Seeress" Theresa join them, with the Captain being roped into being part of their management. In the "Gemina Invasions" event, they rope Tesla into playing guitar for them during their tryouts for an idol singer competition. Finally, in the "Post-Honkai Odyssey" side story, there is a digital billboard at the downtown of St. Fountain with a silhouette resembling Rozaliya, implying both of them achieving their dreams of becoming idols.
  • Invulnerable Attack: Liliya is immune to indirect damage when she uses her Ultimate Skill. The attack where Liliya swings Rozaliya also makes them briefly invincible, and Roza's Ultimate Skill also makes her unable to be attacked for a brief time.
  • "Just Frame" Bonus: Activating Liliya’s ultimate skill at the exact moment the enemy hits grants higher damage, a faster cooldown (5 seconds instead of 15), as well as a time fracture. Their Pri-Arm Sleeper’s Dreamnote  allows her to circumvent the timing issue: since its active skill consumes one HP in the form of a laser beam that hits the player (with a half-second delay), you can trigger Liliya’s perfect ultimate by parrying said laser beam, even if no enemy attacks you. This makes her a lot more deadly as a DPS, though still tricky to use.
  • Large Ham: As part of their obsession to becoming superstars, Roza likes to dramatize her lines almost whenever she speaks. Lili is the opposite, and will often chastise Roza when her hamminess goes overboard.
  • Little Miss Badass: The two are even younger than Bronya but are quite capable in combat.
  • Meaningful Appearance: Roza has her horn on the right side while Lili has hers on the left. Roza's primary color is hot pink while Lili's is blue. Roza's hair tips spike upward while Lili's wave downward. They all serve to make them contrast each other, even in silhouettes.
  • The Nose Knows: In ch. 12, as Theresa points out, Roza can still pick up the scent of Lili after the latter was absorbed into Assaka. This is what clues her that Lili can still be saved.
  • Overheating: Overusing Rozaliya's Charged Attack will cause her to get dizzy. If Lili is in the team, she can have an access to an additional attack (while spinning, release and quickly tap the attack button again) where Lili comes in to swing Roza at the enemy for a powerful slash, and this animation will avoid Roza's dizzy animation, but it will fill around 1/3 of the overheat gauge.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: They're as petite as Bronya, but their Bio-Augmentation allows them to wield the same greatswords that Himeko normally uses, and with more speed and agility.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Seemingly, their main purpose is to provide humor for the situations they're in. Notably, "Seele's Quantum Diary" event depicts Bronya and Seele's backstory as in the supplementary comic, but with additional scenes of the twins that give them some extra humor. The comics that focus on the twins are also gag comics, and they provide a lot of wacky hijinks in events. However, ch. 12 puts them in a dramatic situation: Aside from having their foster mother injured, Lili gets absorbed by Gray Serpent (as Assaka) as Roza watches, and the latter faces quite the dilemma afterward; if not for Theresa's encouraging words, she may have been too overcome by hysteria and been beaten (and perhaps absorbed) by Gray Serpent as well.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Rozaliya is the more playful and carefree type while Liliya is the more serious type. They almost look like literal Red Oni, Blue Oni, which is lampshaded in their Chronicles story "Dreams of Gemina".
  • The Prankster: In the "St. Freya Fiesta" event, in the various skits you can encounter, they'll be pulling various pranks on people, including you (the Captain).
  • Prehensile Tail: They each have one, with a three-fingered cybernetic claw at the end, which they use to swing their swords in battle. Rozaliya in particular likes her tail.
  • Self-Parody: Their Chronicles story "Dreams of Gemina" has them auditioning to become idols (specifically, movie stars). They then get to re-enact certain scenes in the story mode, such as Fu Hua's reveal of the truth about Kiananote , Bronya turning into Dark Bronya, or Kiana becoming her Herrscher self and Rozaliya making the same pose as Himeko at the end of the latter's battle.
  • Skinship Grope: Played with if you have the twins together on the bridge. In one of their animations, Rozaliya tries to rub her cheek against Liliya's chest, while Liliya pushes her away with an irritated expression.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: In the "Empyrean Legends" event, Liliya can apparently understand the "white dragon" (implied to be Benares)'s noises, translating them to the rest of the group.
  • Spin Attack: Rozaliya's Charged Attack is to spin with her sword. She'll get dizzy if she spins too much, however, so be careful.
  • Spotting the Thread: In the climax of the "Empyrean Legends" event, the two rush into the Sakura Inn to try to find Seele. When they meet her, however, the latter has changed her looks: she's got red eyes, red clothes and partly red hair. This (as well as the way "Seele" behaves) causes them to conclude that they have been duped by her all along.
  • Sword Drag: Both twins carry their swords in their hands this way in their running animations, switching the grip to their tails for combat.
  • Tag Team Twins:
    • When you're playing as Rozaliya and Liliya is in the team, the latter will repeatedly jump in to add attacks of her own when the former does her normal attack. Roza's Spin Attack can be continued with Lili jumping in and then swinging Roza and her sword as a powerful attack. Roza's Ultimate Skill will have Lili jumping in to perform it together, increasing its damage.
    • In the "Empyrean Legends" event, Roza becomes one of the bosses. She usually fights alone but she occasionally summons Lili for certain attacks. After she Turns Red, Lili comes out more often to do her own attacks.
  • Token Mini-Moe: As of their introduction, they're the youngest playable characters.
  • Unwitting Pawn: In the "Empyrean Legends" event, they become one for Seele, or rather, the "Nian" beast, to do her bidding. The thing is, while they're foolish enough to be easily manipulated, they're also too foolish for their own good, so much that Seele eventually gets sick of them.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: They were seemingly never mentioned or seen again in "The Day You Vanished with the Stars" event after the story goes to the part of Qixi Festival. They were eventually mentioned to be rescued by Delta in one of her special scenes in "Honkai Quest" event.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: Among Rozaliya's skill names are "I KAN'T STOP!", "I GOT SHIELDZ" and "MOAR CHOPPA!".

Swallowtail Phantasm
Stygian Nymph
Starchasm Nyx
*spoiler*

Bronya's friend in Cocolia's orphanage. Seele is a rather timid and withdrawn girl who revered Bronya, calling her "big sis". She participated in one of Anti-Entropy's experiments, Project X-10, which aimed for creating a "new breed of human race" and would let her manipulate things at a quantum level. However, it didn't end well for her; her body broke down into atoms and her mind went into the Imaginary Space. She's also shown to have a Stigma of her own, which manifests as a Split Personality inside her.

  • And I Must Scream: She ended up in the Imaginary Space/Sea of Quanta, with little to no way to interact with the outside. Downplayed in that it didn't bother her too much, and she's just waiting there for Bronya to bring her back. In "Seele's Quantum Diary" she later explains to the Captain how she ended up in "the dark room".
  • Afraid of Their Own Strength: One of the texts in ch. 12 mentions that Seele has always been afraid of the power she's born with. Everytime she tries tapping into it, her Split Personality would take control of her. However, in ch. 23, Seele reconciles this fear and allows "Seele" to fully control her body to unlock her power completely, trusting "Seele" to do the right thing and help her and Bronya escape the Herscherr of Dominance.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: In "Seele's Quantum Diary" she claims that she ended up going to the beach with Bronya, with her detailing her experiences. Then her Split Personality comes out and gives a sarcastic Mirthless Laughter before saying: "Did you actually go to the beach with Bronya?" Later her split personality makes the Captain ask the same question and Seele is forced to admit that she didn't.
  • Badass Adorable: As The Cutie of the cast, she plays the role of the sweet little sister that everyone takes care of. She's quiet, friendly, and kind; her gentleness is what makes her special. But that doesn't stop her from being one of the most powerful in the roster, especially after her Next Tier Power-Up
    • Played for Laughs Herrscher of Sentience doesn't listen to anyone except for Seele. Both in-story and dorm conversation showed that the Herrscher of Sentience gave in to whatever Seele says because she can't resist her.
  • Begin with a Finisher:
    • In Coop Multiplayer, Swallowtail Phantasm's Team Skill is to give 40 SP for the whole team and to make them gain extra SP per hit for a duration, allowing your team to access Ultimate Skills more quickly.
    • As Stygian Nymph, her Team Skill also gives extra SP and increase in Ultimate Skills' damage, so your team can quickly begin with powered up Ultimate Skills. As her own Ultimate Skill can be activated with no SP whatsoever, she can also do this by herself; she also has a passive skill where she can regenerate up to 50 SP at the start of a battle.
  • Big Bad: In the "Empyrean Legends" event, she's revealed to be the "Nian" beast that was defeated by the Celestial a few weeks ago and has taken form of a little girl, who schemes to try to kill the Celestial, partly out of revenge, and partly so that she can terrorize and prey on villagers without hassle.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Shares her first kiss With Bronya in a panel that nearly takes up an entire page at the end of the Azure Waters manga. So big that the Chinese version of the manga tripped the censors in China and was changed to a Kissing Discretion Shot, while the English version of the Azure Waters PV was extended to include it in its climax.
  • Big Damn Reunion:
    • The first time was in the "Winter Rhapsody" event, where she shows up at the very end to meet Bronya. Seele sets up the whole event (by pulling Bronya and friends into a game) to meet her, at least for a brief time.
    • Played with in Ch. 11, as the first time they meet was in a "bubble universe" where Seele is supposedly a Valkyrie in St. Freya Academy and becomes Bronya's squadmate. At the end of the mission that they're put in, Bronya deduces from what she sees that, unlike the other people she meets—who are the Alternate Universe versions of the people she knew—Seele is "not of this world". Then the two embrace each other and cry Tears of Joy.
  • Body Motifs: As Stygian Nymph, "Dark Seele" has eyes where her flower ornaments used to be, including on her hair and skirt.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In ch. 12, after the zombie outbreak in the Fire Moth's building, she suddenly freezes up, and her Split Personality says that her power is getting out of control. She then transforms into a darker form who is Red and Black and Evil All Over and sports large Wolverine Claws, all while her regular self's mind is still conscious, desperately calling for Bronya to save her. She then becomes a boss that Sakura has to fight; she manages to suppress Seele, bringing her back to normal. As this happens in the middle of the zombie outbreak, combined with Seele's comment where she says that she feels "unbelievable fury and sorrow", it's implied that it's the 12th Herrscher that is controlling her with her power of "Corruption".
  • Breast Expansion: In Ch. 23, when Seele leaves full control of the body to her alter ego so that she can unleash her full power, the change comes with...physical enhancements.
  • The Bus Came Back: After she was absent from the story after chapter 12 and her cameo in one of files in "Thunderous Sanction", she returns in the chapter 23 as the Character Focus in the story.
  • Butterfly of Death and Rebirth: After Seele "died", she would occasionally appear in the real world in the form of a blue butterfly. The "Valkyries' Dining Escapades" comic shows her doing this to visit Bronya in her dreams. Her Papilio Lily outfit is also adorned with butterflies. Swallowtail Phantasm's dash move has trails of blue butterflies, and her Charged Attack is accompanied by the same butterflies. At the end of Ch. 11, she transforms into a blue butterfly, and then seemingly "merges" with Bronya (and persumably the Herrscher Core of Reason) to give her a brand new form.
  • Call-Back:
    • Her outfit as Swallowtail Phantasm is a reference to the outfit worn by what appears to be the 6th Herrscher of the Previous Era, as shown in a supplementary comic.
    • The changes in her physical appearance (long hair and a sizeable bust increase) as Starchasm Nyx are reminiscent of the version of her from Guns GirlZ.
  • Call-Forward: The supplementary comic "Valkyrie's Dining Escapades" shows Bronya cooking borscht, with her being reminded of her time with her old friend Seele. The mini-event "Seele's Diary" shows that Seele was the one who taught Bronya how to cook borscht.
  • Character Development: May not as noticeable as the main trio but she's not the same girl the players encountered back in Chapter 12. She wished to be more independent like Bronya; in Chapter 36, she also considers her other self as a role model. She starts doing things on her own, having more initiative and overall braver when facing danger. Though there are moments where she has to take a breather and consults her other self, but all in all she's becoming more dependable, as Susannah notes in later chapters.
    • In Ch. 23, this became the main issue for both her and her other self, with the latter having a hard time accepting Seele growing up though they reconciled at the end.
    • In Ch. 32, she woke up alone in New Atra with no one familiar to talk to and she worked her way by helping the children and other characters along the way, without any hesitation.
    • In Ch. 36, her Japanese voice over makes it more noticeable that she's becoming more mature by speaking more calmly, in a lower tone, and less anxious. She even confidently faces her enemies, with Susannah noting how brave and strong Seele is. In extension, "Seele" is also coming to terms of Seele becoming more independent, even supporting her decision, though she still feels sad about it.
  • Chained by Fashion: Stygian Nymph has chains adorning her body, primarily from her neck to her hip. This motif carries over to Starchasm Nyx's claw weapons, which are chained together at the wrist.
  • Charged Attack: Swallowtail Phantasm has a series of small Sword Beams from her scythe that launches enemies upwards and gives enemies a special debuff. This requires her to fill a 2-part gauge, and 1 part is used whenever she launches the attack. In her Super Mode, her charged attack is changed to her performing a powerful circular slash after leaping towards the closest enemy; this will refill her gauge for a bit, but her Ultimate Evasion will be put in cooldown.
  • Combat Tentacles: Stygian Nymph's dark version can summon tentacles of darkness from the ground to smash enemies around.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • In Chapter 12, she works together with the Previous Era's incarnation of Yae Sakura due to having a similar goal of finding their only family. In Seele's case, she's looking for Bronya, knowing that the latter would search for Seele amidst the bubble worlds of the Sea of Quanta. In Sakura's case, she's looking for her younger sister Rin (implied to be Higokumaru), and instead found Seele in the cell where Sakura thought Rin was detained. Their similar circumstances lead to their teaming up.
    • Seele tries to invoke this in Ch. 23, saying that Kiana also has someone inside of her, so they could try to help her. "Seele", however, is less than happy to be compared to someone "wild, dangerous and brutal" like Sirin. Although Seele apologizes, the conversation furthers "Seele" 's irritation at seeing Seele start to bond with other people.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Seele’s hair, eyes and outfits are predominantly blue and white, while "Seele" is all about red and black.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: In Ch. 12, she points out that if the Fire Moth soldiers hadn't killed Rin, the 12th Herrscher wouldn't be awakened and the crisis could've been avoided. Kevin can only say that since the Herrscher was awakened with her death, the crisis would've come to pass eventually; the Herrschers' fate were sealed the moment the Honkai chose them to be their "agent".
  • Cowardly Lion:
    • Rather shy, meek and passive, especially after she got kidnapped by human traffickers (and then got rescued by Bronya). Further details She nevertheless came up with her own brave moments later on, like taking the experiment X-10 in Bronya's stead.
Seele: *thinking* "I lack Rozaliya's fearsome confidence. I also can't laugh at myself like Liliya. I just lacked their courage."
Captain: Seele, you took the test because you wanted to protect Bronya. There's no need to hide. You were brave when you made the choice. You can definitely be brave again.
    • When Seele and Bronya try to escape the Sea of Quanta at the end of Chapter 12's third act (depicted in the short animation, "Seele"), the two are impeded by the Honkai as the gate to the Eye of the Deep is closing. When Bronya sacrifices herself to bring Seele back to the real world, the latter is unwilling to accept that, and tries to break down the gate that just closed. Despite "Dark Seele" insisting that there's nothing she can do, Seele manages to break open a way back into the Deep by sheer determination and love for Bronya, and when the Honkai try to push her back, she manages to convince her other persona to help her annihilate them. When Bronya's life is on the line, Seele will take up arms to rush to her aid, and nothing, absolutely nothing, will stop her - especially after the two had just reunited with each other after so long. This also unlocked her Stygian Nymph form.
  • Cope by Pretending: In Ch.38, the cast each went through an illusion that was considered as a possible future, "Seele" in particular, was haunted by it throughout the chapter. Huge spoilers ahead.
    • The vision depicted a future Seele, now an established Valkyrie spending her days doing her duties. Much later, it was eventually revealed that the Seele being shown is actually the other "Seele". Seele had passed away, and "Seele" can't cope with the fact that she failed to protect her. Therefore, she convinced herself that Seele had survived, and "Seele" was the one who died instead. Throughout the vision, a familiar voice spoke to her, reassuring her that everything will be okay.
It's alright, Seele. You'll get to meet lots of new friends. You won't feel lonely. Don't worry, nobody will distance themselves from you because of your past, and nobody will fear you because you're weird anymore. You will be loved by everyone and live a life illuminated by sunshine and surrounded by flowers. Don't be afraid, Seele. Nothing will change, even if I'm no longer by your side.
  • Deal with the Devil: In the Sea of Quanta, she was trapped inside a "dark room" before a "door" opens, and then she goes out. Apparently, a being called the World Serpent was the one who helped her escape; in exchange for her freedom, said being asked her to retrieve the Herrscher Core of Reason for it. Its true motive is to bypass the "barrier" that Welt had made with his Herrscher Core and go out to the real world. Later on, in "Stygian Blooms" event, she would describe her asking for help from her dark self (i.e becoming Stygian Nymph) as this.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Just as Seele has been gaining her alter ego's strength, "Seele" has gradually been growing more heroic thanks to her influence. Ever since their reconciliation in Ch. 23, it's been much easier for Seele to convince her to help their friends and comrades.
    • Throughout Ch. 37 showed her reluctantly opening up to Herrscher of Sentience (granted that the herrscher read her mind several times). In Ch. 37, "Seele" thanked Herrscher of Sentience for reassuring her and indirectly inviting the latter to a meal.
      "Seele": Can you...eat spicy food?
Herrscher of Sentience: Yo, what's gotten into you?
      "Seele": Heh, who knows.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: As Stygian Nymph, whenever you're playing as "Dark Seele", the scenery will turn monochrome. It'll turn back normal if you switch to another character, or if you turn Seele light again.
  • Demoted to Extra: The previous game Guns GirlZ has her as one of the playable characters. Here, before version 3.2 she was merely a Posthumous Character and only depicted in a Stigmata set.
  • Dramatic Irony: "Seele" doesn't see herself as more than Seele's other half and feels like she doesn't have a place in the real world other than her duty in protecting her host. Seele and her friends, on the other hand, have always treated "Seele" like her own person, acknowledging that she has her own thoughts and feelings.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: In Cooking with Valkyries season 2, she first appears in the 3rd episode, only in a small shot of her walking out of a bus. In the next episode, she's directly mentioned, and she finally appears formally, visiting our Valkyries' little party. She's apparently late because she went through various shops looking for sour cream. After all, Bronya likes it.
  • Equippable Ally: In the "Seele" video in Ch. 12, after she taps upon the power of her Stigma, "Dark Seele" appears behind her and transforms into a big red scythe, which Seele uses to cut the Quantum Honkai Beasts surrounding her and the strange "tube" she's in along with them while the two Speak in Unison. This is reused as Stygian Nymph's Ultimate Skill for Dark Seele's side.
  • Exposed to the Elements: In the "Odd Drifter" event, she's wearing the summer event costume (a white dress with quite a number of openings)... in a frozen tundra. It gets lampshaded later on.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: When Seele allows "Seele" to take full control of her body, one of the physical changes is that her hair lengthens until it reaches almost to her waist. When "Seele" returns control to Seele, her short hair returns.
  • EX Special Attack: Stygian Nymph's Charged Attack can be used without filling its special meter, but with the meter full, the attack will do extra hit and damage.
  • Facing Your Fears: In the end of the "Stygian Blooms" event, after the encouragement from Captain and Fu Hua, Seele goes to embrace her dark self. "Dark Seele" initially feels irritated but she eventually embraces Seele back. This causes Seele's inner world to crumble, so the Captain has to quickly escape from it.
  • Fanservice Pack: As Starchasm Nyx, she has a noticeable bust size increase.
  • First Friend: To Bronya, being the first person she really cared about and showed frank emotion towards.
  • Foil: What Dark Seele is to Herrscher of the Void. Both are darker personalities of Seele and Kiana, and both plan to eventually take over their hosts the moment they see an opportunity. However, Dark Seele very much cares for Seele and is highly protective of her, so much that she tends to cross into Knight Templar territory for any slight made against her. In contrast, the Herrscher of the Void only views Kiana as a convenient vessel crafted only for her, and goes out of her way to torment her to make her feel hatred and despair to fully take over. Dark Seele even points this out to her.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • In one supplementary comic, when Cocolia held a test of manipulating Honkai energy for her orphanage children, Seele tried and failed to shape a ball of mercury; before the whole thing crumbles, it assumed a shape vaguely similar to a scythe. Later, after the Experiment X-10, she's shown brandishing a scythe of her own.
    • In ch. 11, during a mission they're put together in, Bronya (who thought that she's the Alternate Universe version of Seele) thinks that Seele seems to know more about the mission's details and what to do than she ought to. At the end of the mission, Seele's Split Personality briefly takes over and summons a Quantum Honkai Beast to attack Bronya, which she defeats. All of those leads Bronya to conclude that the Seele in front of her is "not of this world".
    • In the "Empyrean Legends" event, she was the one who suggested to the Celestial to go to the haunted dark forest if she wants to get some timber. She — or rather, her Split Personality — would later be revealed as the "Nian" beast that was defeated by the Celestial some time ago, and had burned the village when the Celestial was away.
    • In one episode of Cooking with Valkyries season 2, it mentions our Valkyrie group having a "welcome party for a new roommate", then it gives a small shot of Seele walking out of a bus. The next one mentions her as the "star" of the party. She arrives at the end of the episode, with Bronya saying "Welcome to the St. Freya Academy" - implying that she's the aforementioned new roommate.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: Swallowtail Phantasm’s ultimate skill has Seele’s other self ("Seele") take over for the duration of the burst mode. In chapter 23-9, however, "Seele" is angry at Seele and refuses to show up. As a result, you can only activate the ultimate’s initial attack, without burst mode.
    • During Ch. 36 the two Seele's are seperated and their connection severed. While "Seele" can use her full skillset as Starchasm Nyx, Seele doesn't have a Solo unit and is unable to use her Ultimate as Stygian Nymph to switch places with "Seele".
  • Gathering Steam:
    • As Swallowtail Phantasm, Seele has a gauge that can be filled with normal attacks, Ultimate Evasion, QTE and Ultimate Skill. The gauge is used to power her Charged Attack (powerful slashing move with her scythe) in her normal state, and in her Super Mode, the gauge determines how long the mode lasts; during which, her Charged Attack can refill her gauge at the cost of her Ultimate Evasion entering cooldown, and killing enemies can also refill it.
    • The individual parts of Seele's Stigmata set have effects that only occur when the user's SP stat in battlenote  is more than 150, and they would increase with every additional 20 SP (stacks up to 6 times). Its 3-piece Set Bonus empowers Ultimate Skills and weapon skills that deal damage; for every 20% SP remaining, the user gains increased total damage on said skills and for 3 seconds afterward.
  • Hates Being Alone: "Seele" starts being hit really hard by this in Ch. 23, as Seele starts making more friends like Kiana. It turns out she is terrified at the idea of Seele no longer needing her anymore and leaving her behind. Thankfully, Seele reassures that her other self is irreplaceable.
    • It's even more noticeable throughout Ch. 37 - 39, where Seele and "Seele" are separated. She was visibly disturbed by what Seele(?) said, constantly denying that they would be separated forever. While following Dr. Schrödinger's instructions, she rushed through enemies, even gaining concern from Herrscher of Sentience, who eventually reassures her that they will see each other again.
  • Hidden Depths: For all her sadistic personality, it turns out "Seele" has some quirky aspects that Bronya knew about all along back in their orphanage days. As shown in the third part of the "Blackfrost Blaze" mini-event, Bronya points out that "Seele" is a picky eater, loves spicy foods, and easily gets sleepy at the moment when she picks up a book.
    • In Ch. 37, when trying to re-establish the connection to Seele, "Seele" hesitated and even downright stopping in her tracks, questioning whether she could make it happen again. Herrscher of Sentience pointed out how "Seele" is actually pessimistic, anxious, and have low self-confidence before giving her a pep talk.
Herrscher of Sentience: Something that's happened once is no miracle. Not to mention you were the one who provoked it.
  • Hourglass Plot: By the time Part 1.5 rolls around, Seele and "Seele"'s roles have switched. While Seele learns to be more confident and independent of "Seele" and Bronya, "Seele" is revealed to be doubtful of herself, and fearful of being separated from Seele.
  • Identity Breakdown: Borderline of Loss of Identity for "Seele". As a being born from Seele's desire for protection, her identity revolves around keeping Seele from harm at all cost. She would do anything, striking a deal with the serpent in exchange for Seele's freedom from the Sea of Quanta, even going against Bronya in the process. Now that Seele has grown more independent and capable fighter, she no longer needs protection as much as before and having more people around her. "Seele" has a hard time coming to terms with it and becomes very anxious that Seele might leave her for good someday.
  • Insane Equals Violent: In the "Cyber Haxxor" event, the Haxxors encounter both Saule and Velonia, who are very unpleasant but can be pacified with different kinds of wine, and later Seele on her own. The event ends with a "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue revealing that Saule and Velonia each take on grape-themed identities while Seele is a renowned viticulturist with schizophrenia who often plays hide and seek in her vineyard, hinting that Saule and "Seele" were her the whole time.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Her relationship with Bronya is supposedly platonic, but it really comes off more as this. She sometimes feels that she's a burden to Bronya and that she's too weak or cowardly and depends on Bronya too much. This, among other things, is what leads her into instigating the "Stygian Blooms" event, and in particular, abducting Bronya into the "Anger" section of her mind - Bronya's drive for her protection made her angry at herself.
  • Intangible Man: The effect of Swallowtail Phantasm's Ultimate Evasion and QTE is that she becomes able to phase through enemies for a few seconds.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Not Seele herself, but rather "Seele", her other self. Outside of her sadistic nature, it is shown that "Seele" has apparent dislike with people interacting with Seele, both stemmed from jealousy and her protectiveness over Seele, the latter knows this and thanks her for it.
  • Literal Split Personality:
    • As seen in the "Seele" video in Ch. 12, "Dark Seele" can manifest separately from her. As Stygian Nymph, when you put her in the bridge, Dark Seele can sometimes manifest before her and talk to her before disappearing.
    • Played for laughs in the Dorm: If you put Stygian Nymph's chibi with Liliya, the latter will note the former's red eyes, red hair and wide smile, and Dark Seele tries to make excuses for each one (as she pretends to be the real Seele). Lili then asks if this Seele is, of all things, the "Big Bad Wolf" from Little Red Riding Hood. Dark Seele can do nothing but express amusement at Seele's friends.
    • In Ch. 36 "Dark Seele" manifests seperately within the Sea of Quanta to help stabilize Susannah, claiming that it's easier to seperate there. After being split up while traveling through a portal their connection seems to be severed completely with the two Seele's unable to sense each other. An entity posing as Seele claims that they could have seperated at any time but "Seele" continues to deny it.
    • Chapter 39 has them gain seperate bodies with "Seele" gaining control of their original body while Seele creates a new one as the Herrscher of Rebirth. It's stated that they are now unable to exist in the same body anymore the way they did before, meaning they are most likely permanently seperated though they still share the name Seele.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Seele is this to "Seele". Chapter 37-39 makes it very clear that "Seele" based her entire existence around protecting Seele and doesn't even consider living as her own person to keep protecting her much to Seele's concern. One potential future has her completely lose her mind after losing Seele and starts pretending to be her to cope and in the main story she completely loses her composure and has a breakdown when she thinks Seele died.
  • The Man Behind the Man: She's the one behind the "Winter Rhapsody" event happening in the first place: she pulls Bronya, the other Valkyries, and the Captain inside a video game and puts them in various roles, including Rita as the Anti-Villain "Red Queen" and Kiana as the Big Bad, "White Witch" (i.e Herrscher of the Void in her special winter costume). She simply wanted to have her Big Damn Reunion with Bronya, at least for a brief time; Bronya doesn't have the means to bring Seele to the real world yet, though, so she's fine with parting again.
  • Manipulative Bastard: in the "Empyrean Legends" event, she — as the "Nian" beast that takes a human form — acts helpful to Rozaliya and Liliya in order to gain their trust, then tricks them to do her bidding for her scheme to get back at the Celestial. She also bribes Ai-chan with "crystalium" so that she'd fight the Celestial for her. However, due to the twins not being very bright, they ended up making a lot of mistakes, and eventually she gets sick of them.
  • Meaningful Appearance: As Stygian Nymph, aside from the color change, the the flower in her hair and her chain moves from the right side to the left when Seele's light side performs her Ultimate Skill, giving the "dark mirror" theme for "Dark Seele".
  • Meaningful Name: "Seele" means "soul" in German. Due to Experiment X-10, she ends up becoming nothing but a soul.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter:
  • Mind Rape:
    • Her Split Personality caused Sin Mal to "fall down endless stairs", lovingly calling it "The Revenge Staircase Super Ride", in revenge for Sin pushing Bronya down the stairs, breaking Bronya's legs in the process.
    • In the "Stygian Blooms" event, "Dark Seele" abducts half of your Valkyries into a strange dimension and puts them into illusions where they're faced with their worst fearsnote . She does so because regular Seele's fears and negative emotions influenced her dark self to find out how others deal with their problems and inner demons.
  • Motive Rant: In the final chapter of the "Empyrean Legends" event, when the Celestial encounters her, she goes on to spill out her motives - to kill the Celestial through various means: the "white dragon", Ai-chan, and the "beast in the cave".
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In Seele's Summer Suite event, one of the "daily events" that can occur is Bronya finding Seele inside a chest alongside a bunch of turret guns, and Bronya thinking that she might be seeing things. Back in Guns GirlZ, Seele specialized in making turret guns.
    • Speaking of Guns GirlZ, her appearance as Starchasm Nyx is loosely based on Seele's older self from one of its post-main story content, particularly her longer hair and her decent amount of Fanservice Pack.
  • No Name Given: Seele’s other self has no official namenote ; even Seele calls her "Other Me". This actually becomes a point of friction between them in chapter 23.
  • No Social Skills: While Seele is very friendly despite her shyness, "Seele" is actually this. Her first instinct in conversations is to act sadistic and abrasive while internally she worries that her words were too harsh. Thankfully the few people she interacts with, mainly Seele, see past her cruel words and see her kind nature.
  • Only Mostly Dead: Her state at the start of the game. As she had become The Disembodied, she can't directly interact or talk with people or things, and neither can they towards her. In the "Winter Rhapsody" event, however, she seemingly finds out how to bring Bronya and the other Valkyries inside a video game (the "Winter Rhapsody" event) in order to have a brief reunion with her. It takes Bronya rescuing her from the Sea of Quanta and/or her accepting the powers from her dark side for her to finally be free and corporeal again.
  • Power Echoes: In the game, her Split Personality has a slightly echoing voice.
  • Power Floats: The "Dark Seele" boss in Ch. 12 (and, subsequently, Stygian Nymph's dark side) freely floats around instead of walking.
  • Power Incontinence: When the Experiment X-10 started, Seele, in her mind, tried to reach out to Bronya, but then she hid herself inside a "chest". Her Split Personality told her that she wouldn't be able to control the power contained in said "chest", but Seele is determined to help Bronya and opened it anyway. For around 0.8 seconds after that, time briefly stopped, and then Cocolia and the scientists celebrated...but then her body started to break down and disappear. When Bronya later took the experiment to meet Seele again, the latter handed over said power, called "Rebuild", to Bronya before she was gone. That power later manifests as the Project Bunny 19c. Later on Ch. 11, both "Joachim" and her Split Personality says to Bronya that she only has little control over her abilities.
  • Power Makeover: Once her physical body broke down completely, her mind escaped out of the lab she was in with the help of her Stigma. She's then dressed in the outfit depicted in her Stigmata set (a small white and purple dress, wielding a Sinister Scythe) and flew over the seas, trying to reach the orphanage to meet Bronya before her mind disappeared. Unfortunately, she was too late, as her mind forcibly went to the Imaginary Space before Bronya could see her.
  • Power Tattoo: Her personal Stigma is located at the top of her chest, just under the collarbone. In the end of ch. 12, she claims that Einstein wants to check on it.
  • The Promise:
    • After Bronya saved Seele from her kidnappers, the latter, who was frightened by what Bronya did to the kidnappers, made Bronya promise to never hurt anyone again. She held onto that promise... which led her to not retaliate when Sin Mal pushed her down the stairs. Her Split Personality explains this to the Captain when the latter asks her why Bronya didn't do anything about it.
    • She makes one with Bronya in her final moments, saying that the kiss that they share won't be the last, and she also makes Bronya promise to restore her somehow. They also sealed it with a Pinky Swear. They also have promised to go to a lot of places together, so this drives both of them to find a way to escape from the Sea of Quanta together.
    • As a being born from Seele's desire for protection, "Seele" made a promise to herself to keep Seele away from any harm that comes their way, no matter the cost.
  • Promoted to Playable: Version 3.2 added her to the roster of Valkyries.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: After activating her Ultimate, Seele's Sword Lines turn red and black, showing her dark side being active for a period of time.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Seele's eyes turn bright red whenever her darker side takes over.
    • Took to a new level of Nightmare Fuel in Ch. 38, when the players finally saw the vision that has been haunting "Seele" throughout the chapter. In a possible future, "Seele" is so overcome with grief, she goes around pretending to be Seele, living her life as if nothing happened. Only after she looked at a mirror, her red eyes shattered that illusion.
  • Sexy Slit Dress: Stygian Nymph's special costume in 3.7 dresses her halves in mirrored white and red qipaos that are cut high enough on one side to expose one leg past the hip.
  • Sinister Scythe: After the X-10 experiment, she gets to brandish a scythe of her own. The force inside Seele that manifests as her Stigmata mark sometimes takes over Seele and operates on its own, and "she" can be rather cruel and sadistic, as opposed to the innocent Seele.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Stygian Nymph's Ultimate Skill is unique in that it can be used with no SP, but if she has any amount of SP before performing it, the damage will be increased the more SP she has, at the cost of her SP gauge depleting to zero.
  • Sociopathic Hero: "Seele" is a sadist who enjoys toying with her enemies and making them suffer, but she will always remain on Seele's side, as her goal is to protect her.
  • Spam Attack: Swallowtail Phantasm's normal combo is unique in that, after she does the 5th (finishing) strike, she'll go straight to her 2nd strike if you tap the attack button again, allowing for endless attacks.
  • Spectacular Spinning: Her normal attacks and Ultimate Skill has her do a lot of spinning attacks.
  • Spin Attack: Her scythe attacks generally involve a lot of acrobatic spinning and twirling. Notably, she's a bit more careful and clumsy in her attacks than Rita.
  • Split Personality: Her Stigma apparently comes with its own personality.
    • She's a rather sadistic person who tried to make her other self (regular Seele) do nasty things to those who wronged her. For all of her ruthlessness, however, she's loyal to her other self and won't go against her. The peculiar shape of the stigma's tattoo is revealed in another comic to be the symbol for the 6th Herrscher, the "Herrscher of Death", in the previous civilization 50000+ years ago, which may imply that Seele's stigma had said Herrscher's consciousness.
    • Said split personality also appears in "Seele's Quantum Diary", at first confusing the Captain with the diary entriesnote  and their conversation before "showing up" to him; it doesn't help that she occasionally pretends to be her real self.
Seele?: I was transcribed to human genetic memory to help transfer our knowledge, powers... and the eternal hatred of Gods, known as the Honkai.
    • Before the climax of Ch. 11, "Seele?" reveals herself to Bronya for the first time and then turns on her, saying that she had made a "deal" with a being (which Bronya correctly guessed as the "Serpent") that may allow the two to escape to the real world, and that she needs the Herrscher Core of Reason for it. Bronya isn't letting her, because Joachim had told Bronya to not let the Serpent out at all costs, and because she's still holding onto The Promise she made back then. At the end of the chapter, said personality is subduednote  and Seele goes back normal.
  • Stance System: Stygian Nymph has this as the major part of her system. She has 2 modes: "Saule" (Seele's regular personality) and "Veliona" ("Dark Seele"). Using her Ultimate Skill, Saule can transform into Veliona and vice versa; the two sides also have different Ultimate Skills, making her the 2nd character after Valkyrie Accipiter (Fu Hua) to have more than 1 Ultimate Skill. Saule fights like normal Seele would, with her scythe, speedy movement, and focus on area attacks that hit multiple enemies at once. Veliona fights with Wolverine Claws, heavy attacks that are more effective on singular targets and break shields more easily, and uses more of Seele's Lovecraftian Superpower to deal massive damage; she also can't use weapon active skills. The two shares a special gauge; Saule fills it with white units while Veliona fills it with red ones (with normal attacks, successful evasion, QTE, or Ultimate Skill), which are then used for their different Charged Attacks: a wide-area slash with her scythe (Saule) or a quick and powerful Deadly Lunge with her claws (Veliona).
  • Super Mode: Swallowtail Phantasm's ultimate skill is a powerful wide-area attack that also makes her enter Burst Mode, courtesy of her momentary Split-Personality Takeover. Aside from increased attack power and speed, she gets stronger (and the duration of the mode gets longer) the more she kills enemies.
  • Swapped Roles: In the second half of the "Odd Drifter" event, Seele is the one looking for her "sister" Bronya this time. She, the Captain, and the rest of their group finds her inside the snow-buried wreckage of a giant mech, but Bronya (as the "Rime Witch") says that she has been sealing the mech together with herself and that she can only project herself for a short time, before disappearing with a Finger-Forced Smile. A tearful Seele vows to find a way to save her. You can break in with a specific item via a side-quest, but it results in a gag ending where Bronya has been playing video games the whole time while trapped.
  • Sweet Tooth: Seele likes desserts. In Ch. 23 and its side-content, it's mentioned Seele often goes out to eat desserts with Bronya and Kiana. Meanwhile, "Seele" likes spicy food, both Seele and Bronya would help provide her with one from time to time.
  • Take Me Instead: She accepted to participate in the Project X-10 in Bronya's place. Her Split Personality in "Seele's Quantum Diary" points out that because she failed the experiment, Bronya ended up taking part in it herself and it left Bronya emotionally and physically crippled, thus making her the reason for Bronya's later suffering.
  • Talking to Themself: She can talk with her Split Personality, with the latter usually creeping her out. In "Seele's Quantum Diary", she starts doing this in front of the Captain, confusing him.
  • Technopath: It's implied in the "Winter Rhapsody" event and "Seele's Quantum Diary" mini-event that she has the ability to manipulate virtual data, probably as a result of Project X-10.
  • Teleportation with Drawbacks: The effect of the 2-Set Bonus of Seele's Stigmata is that the user can teleport somewhere else right before being struck; this has a 10-second cooldown.
  • Third-Person Person: Like Bronya, she usually refers to herself with her own name. She does, however, occasionally use "I" ("watashi") instead. Her Split Personality also does the same, at least whenever she's pretending to be "Seele".
  • Tsundere: "Seele" to Seele. Despite the former's chaotic nature and occasional threats, she cares a lot about Seele's wellbeing and worries that her existence will make people view her in a negative light and insists on remaining hidden even when Seele herself wants to tell their friends. Whenever Seele acknowledges it and thanks her, she shrugs it off as they're sharing a body so it'd affect her too. In chapter 23, after "Seele" gets angry at Seele for befriending other people and seemingly not needing her anymore, she is very quick to forgive her once Seele reassures her she is irreplacable while verbally saying that she won't be so easily swayed. She even gets a few stereotypical Bakas in after Seele falls asleep mid-apology.
    • Played for Laughs in supplementary materials where "Seele's" affection for Seele border on being a Fangirl with her owning a bodypillow of Seele, entering her into an idol competition because she is the cutest idol and watching her sleep to the point that she knows all of her "adorable" sleep talk. She of course denies any knowledge of these things and will do anything to keep them hidden, especially from Seele herself. Her bridge lines as Starchasm Nyx add a bit more to this with her gushing about how cute Seele is and apparently owning an album of pictures of Seele sleeping, all before attacking the Captain for finding out about it.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: "Seele" with Herrscher of Sentience. They've only known each other for a while in the recent chapters but circumstances forced them to work together. Both very prideful and childish, they wasted no time bickering and take jabs at each other. "Seele" was being especially vulnerable throughout the arc to the point Herrscher of Sentience kept on giving "Seele" hope that she will see Seele again, even though she wasn't sure herself that it might happen. In the same chapter, "Seele" also got to know the Herrscher a bit better.
Herrscher of Sentience: We've covered a lot of ground today.
"Seele": Are you tired? We can take a break, if you want.
Herrscher of Sentence: Not really. Just expressing (emotions).
    "Seele": Well, that's unlike you.
    Herrscher of Sentience: ...
  • Vocal Evolution: Especially notable in Japanese, where Seele’s initially meek and high-pitched voice becomes gradually deeper and more composed as she gets more experienced and self-confident.
  • We Will Meet Again: Says this to the player character in the "Winter Rhapsody" ending. This is obliquely referenced in the "Seele's Quantum Diary" event, where she's surprised that the Captain talks to her via text ("Captain?! Is that you?") before claiming that "it's nothing" when the Captain asks about it.
  • Wish Upon a Shooting Star: In "Seele's Diary", when she saw a falling star, she quickly made a wish that Bronya would one day take her to see the beach. In her Cooking with Valkyries episode, it eventually comes true.
  • Wolverine Claws: As Stygian Nymph (including its boss version), "Seele" fights with two weapons resembling claw-fingered hands that are almost as large as she is and float behind her. Starchasm Nyx has the same weapons, but they are a bit more elaborate in design and are connected to each other by a long chain, and are deployed in her Ultimate instead of being her default weapons.

    Sin Mal

Voiced by: Xiao N * (Chinese), Sumire Uesaka (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sin_mal_m.png

Sin Mal was one of the orphans in Cocolia's orphanage along with Seele, Bronya, Rosaliya, and Liliya. Unlike the others, she was a nasty, bullying git who tormented Seele and nearly killed Broyna for trying to befriend her. In story mode, she shows up in a handful of places, most notably during the Chiyou side quest, commanding AE's mecha forces opposing the Valkyries.

  • Crippling Overspecialization: All of her Stigmata are about "enhancing stealth mode", which only Black Nucleus (a very rare Bronya suit) has.
  • Good Eyes, Evil Eyes: Unlike the other girls in the orphanage, Sin has wide eyes of different colors that serve as a clear visual indicator of her cruel nature. This carries over to her in-game sprite which looks thoroughly crazed.
  • Jerkass: Sin is a viciously unpleasant character. She was horrible to Seele and Bronya in the orphanage, and crippled Bronya's legs by pushing her down a flight of stairs. Even in the present day she arrogantly refers to the Valkyries as trash.
  • Lethal Chef: Played for Laughs in Cooking with Valkyries. When Rozaliya complains that she lost her tastebuds due to catching a cold in her attempt to save a pack of rotten cherries, Sin offers her a black bread with salo (uncured meat lard) and raw garlic on it, claiming that everyone eats this when they need to beat the flu. The bread looks smelly and non-delicious, and Bronya even recommends Roza to brush her teeth after eating it. Roza being Roza, she eats it anyway, and her lack of reaction prompts everyone to make a Face Fault.
Rozaliya: What did I just eat? And why did I just eat that? (Got moar?)
Bronya: The Roza became a tasteless idiotka.
Seele: You should really eat some meds.
  • Rape as Drama: Subverted in one of the side comics which covers the story of what happened in the orphanage. Some time after her attack on Bronya, she pushed Seele onto the floor and ripped her shirt open, suggestively running a finger down her chest while examining her stigma mark. However, Seele's other side took over, forced its way into Sin's mind, and subjected her to the feeling of falling down an endless staircase.
  • Scary Teeth: Her teeth are all pointed and animalistic, although whether this is natural, a side effect of something that happened to her, or they were filed is not revealed.
  • Uncertain Doom: Nothing so "doomy" implied, but in the end of ch. 12, Rozaliya indirectly implies that Sin Mal isn't among them in the orphanage anymore.

Mecha and Equipment

    MSR- 7 Wotan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_2_3.png

The end boss of Chapter 4. A Humongous Mecha made inside the ME Corp. building which belongs to the Anti-Entropy.

  • Auto-Scrolling Level: Some challenge stages in the "New Century" event are "obstacle runs" where Wotan runs forward continuously; there are obstacles such as lifted bridges, elevated/lowered road sections and Bottomless Pits that Wotan has to smash through or jump over to the finish line. In the story part of the event, Kiana, controlling the mech, has to run from the AE base to where the 8th Angel is estimated to fall in order to intercept it; later, Asuka does the same to steer the Angel-corrupted Wotan into the rift into the Sea of Quanta that she emerged from, in order to save Nagazora from being destroyed when Wotan's self-destruct goes off.
  • Background Boss: It stays in the background, and you can attack either its body or its Giant Hands of Doom to damage it.
  • BFG: In the "New Century" event, in the battle against the 6th Angel, Wotan is equipped with a giant positron cannon on its right hand. Its energy use is so massive, the Anti-Entropy have to reroute all power in Nagazora for Wotan just to fire it.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Schicksal HQ Open World reveals what happened to it after Chapter 4: Schicksal salvaged it and put it inside their base. When your Anti-Entropy forces invade Schicksal HQ, Einstein is surprised to meet her group's mech again and plans to use it for their invasion plan.
  • Cephalothorax: When it Turns Red, its head disappears and its torso reveals a huge face.
  • Charged Attack: As its playable form in the "New Century" event, it has both the "hold" and "collect" variant of the trope. Its normal attack can be charged to make it do a powerful Ground Pound attack that deal increasingly stronger and wider shockwaves, while its evasion move can be charged to make it do a Dash Attack at the target, with it gaining longer distance and greater strength the longer you charge it. When you hold the button, the 3 pink bars on top of its HP bar will slowly get filled, then they are used when the button is released. The pink bars can also be filled by evading or defending in time, or just by holding the Defend Command button; so that when you want to launch a charged attack, the button doesn't have to be held as long for a stronger version of the attack. You can have an upgrade that allows it to be Immune to Flinching as it charges its attack.
  • Crafted from Animals: A week-long monthly event allows you to acquire weapons themed after the mech as a Random Drop, either a sword for Himeko or a pair of guns for Kiana.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: As its playable form in the "New Century" event, it controls rather differently from regular human fighters you usually control. Tilting the "stick" at the sideways or backwards direction will make Wotan strafe to that direction instead of turning around; you have to turn around by turning the camera sideways. It also cannot quickly cancel its attacks to either its evasion move or its Defend Command, unlike the usual gameplay.
  • Dub Name Change: Its original name is "MSR-7 Deus".
  • Fighter-Launching Sequence: The "New Century" event has a sequence where the Wotan is released and launched into the battlefield from its base.
  • Ground Punch: Its main attack. In a variant, it has an attack where its hand opens its pistons and it smashes said hand down, causing jets of flame to run across the ground.
  • Having a Blast: It can create multiple explosions that track your current location.
  • Heroic Second Wind: The robot equivalent of it at least. In the "New Century" event, storywise, just like Shinji and EVA-01 at the beginning, Wotan (piloted by Mei) can only move sluggishly at first, and it gets beat down hard by the 4th Angel. However, its synchronization level suddenly reaches 200%, and it reveals a stronger form (which the Anti-Entropy members attributed to hidden mechanisms made by Welt, its designer); it then proceeds to beat the Angel to death.
  • Laser Cutter: It has a move where it fires a sweeping laser that ends in an explosion. The sword dropped by it can perform a similar move.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child:
    • It's mainly powered by Wendy's Herrscher core, exhausting her life in the process.
    • The Evangelion collab event "New Century" gives it a slightly similar twist: according to Einstein, Welt built it to contain himself as the 1st Herrscher. Like how the Evangelions were made with the Angels' flesh, there's the irony that the supposed "last resort" against the Herrschers is itself powered by one. When Welt was missing in the Sea of Quanta, he left his Herrscher Core behind, which is then used on Bronya, allowing her to pilot the Wotan as well; although, as an artificial Herrscher, she isn't completely capable at it. While most people thought one would need to have high "Honkai adaptability" in order to pilot Wotan, the truth is that this "adaptability" comes from its pilots being Herrschers - including Kiana and Mei.
  • Promoted to Playable: The Evangelion collab event "New Century" sees it becoming playable, as a stand-in for the Evangelions.
  • Sudden Name Change: An update changes its name from "Godfather" into "Wotan". Einstein still calls it "Godfather" in cutscenes, though.
  • Third-Person Shooter: A few challenge stages in the "New Century" event make Wotan fight like this, with an Arm Cannon that can rapidfire small shots and occasionally fire strong missiles.
  • Vacuum Mouth: After it Turns Red, the large mouth on its torso is capable of sucking you towards it for a bite.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Despite Einstein claiming that she's going to use it for Anti-Entropy's invasion plan on Schicksal, it never comes to pass. The 2nd anniversary event and, later, the "Gemina Invasions" event also jabs on this fact.
    Recharging 10%...25%...50%...70%...90%...90%......

    Padrino
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_778px_padrino_legion_enemy.png

The end boss of the Extra Story "Chapter Xuanyuan". It's a stronger variant of the Titan Mecha mook, used by Anti-Entropy when they invade the underwater cave that our Valkyrie team is exploring.

  • Counter-Attack: It can enter a defensive mode where it deploys a Deflector Shield. If it gets attacked in melee, the attacker will flinch and it'll immediately do a counterattack.
  • Dub Name Change: Its original name is "Godfather".
  • Flunky Boss: In the Memorial Arena version of the battle, it'll be accompanied by 4 Titan Mechas. Upon ascending in rank, some of the mechas become their better versions, culminating in the SS-rank where they are all copies of Padrino (but with only a single life bar each).
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: It's gold-colored and is the stronger boss version of the Titan Mechas.
  • Ground Punch: One of its moves is to smash the ground with its fist (it might run towards you first before this).
  • Ground Wave: Its Ground Punch and Shockwave Stomp moves cause waves of energy that creeps along the ground.
  • King Mook: Of the Titan Mecha mooks.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Downplayed in that it moves relatively slowly, but it has a move where it runs quickly towards you. Played straight in the SS-rank Memorial Arena version of the fight, where its walking speed is increased drastically, making it harder to chase it as it walks around.
  • Power Fist: There's a stronger version of it that has 2 enlarged piston-like fists, called "Fire Spirit Titan". It has several different attacks that uses the fist, such as a stronger Ground Punch and shooting a pulse-like energy shot from said fist. Many of its attacks will also put you in an "ignited" state.
  • Shockwave Stomp: One of its moves is to stomp the ground in front of itself, causing a small quake that hits all around it. It's fully Immune to Flinching during the animation.
  • Turns Red: At lower health, the blue lines on its body turn red and it becomes fully Immune to Flinching and most status ailments, and it also gains a special shield in front of its body at all times that flinches melee attackers (or laser-shooting Bronya) and reflects projectiles directly to the shooter, forcing you to attack from behind.

    MH T3-PAX
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mht3pax.png

An automated war vehicle of Anti-Entropy's creations, it's armed with multiple weapons and covered in thick armor. It first appears in ch. 11 where the Alternate Universe version of Welt creates it using his power as the 1st Herrscher.

  • Attack Its Weak Point: it takes most damage to its "head", while its other parts will only take reduced damage thanks to its thick armor. The "head" is concealed behind its front wheels at the start, but after you attack it enough (i.e after you deplete one of its HP bars), it will "split" its front half in two and reveal the head, after which it whips out stronger attacks. It can still periodically close its front half and open it again, sometimes as a way to attack you if you stand in between them. Special attacks that "hits the enemy's core" can damage its head directly even when its front half is closed, such as Sixth Serenade's "Raven Mark" effects or Sakuno Rondo's "scorching Sakura Marks".
  • Death from Above:
    • It can fire napalm bombs upwards, which then fall onto your position, leaving patches of fire at their wake.
    • After it Turns Red, it can deploy multiple floating bombs that try to track your position, then fall near you and explode.
    • Its strongest attack is to fire a nuclear missile upward, and then guard itself by "closing" its front half. You can forcibly "open" them by attacking the 2 buttons at the sides of the tank, causing it to take huge damage when the nuke explodes. Hiding behind the tank in time will also let you be protected from the nuke's explosion.
  • Dub Name Change: Its original name is "MHT3 - Messenger of Peace".
  • Gatling Good: At the start, it uses 2 gatling guns with Laser Sights that will aim at you at long range. They cannot hit you at close range, however, because they're put at the top part of the tank.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: One of its moves after it Turns Red is to fire multiple homing missiles.
  • Move in the Frozen Time: This boss is completely immune to Time Slow and Time Fracture effects.
  • Ramming Always Works: Sometimes it attacks by simply ramming towards your player character. It tends to move from one end of the stage to another when it does so, so you have to chase after it. It can also ram backwards if you're behind it.
  • Tank Goodness: A more mobile, futuristic, powerful tank, one of the testaments of Anti-Entropy's technology.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Its front half can fire big lasers, while its "head" can fire an even bigger laser. It also has a move where it spins 720 degrees while continuously firing its lasers.

    Hephaestus
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_330px_hephaestus.png
After the battle in Schicksal HQ, Tesla developed a general-purpose prototype defense mech with all-new tech. It can carry stuff, respond to emergencies, and double as a security bot. Though she was made prisoner by Schicksal for a while, Tesla managed to escape and even steal plenty of secrets.

This boss previously only appeared in event stages and in Memorial Arena; it starts being mentioned in the background of chapter 16.

  • Death from Above: It can summon airstrikes from above, dropping multiple bombs at different points in the arena.
  • Dual Wielding: It wields 2 large cleaver-like swords. It can combine the swords into a Double Weapon for a few attacks.
  • Effective Knockoff: This boss is basically Tesla's version of Schicksal's Baldur. While it looks much blockier and tackier, it has superior firepower and capabilities.
  • Energy Weapon: It can shoot straight beams out of its swords. It also has a move where it stands in the middle of the arena, then spins its swords around it as they continuously shoot lasers.
  • Immune to Flinching: while most bosses are immune to being flinched by your attacks, there's a way to temporarily dispel its "super armor": by evading some of its attacks (accompanied by a red flash) in time. If you succeed in doing so, the boss can be flinched and even juggled temporarily.
  • Mistaken Identity: In ch. 16, when the robot is helping to fix some parts of the Roost, the refugees mistake it for "Arahato" (a mecha anime in the game's world). An exasperated Tesla tells the kids that they've been watching too much television.
  • Move in the Frozen Time: It is completely immune to Time Slow effects.
  • Shock and Awe: Many of its attacks deal lightning damage, and can paralyze your characters.
  • Spin Attack: It has a quick spin attack with its swords. It then leaves a ring of electricity or fire on the ground.
  • Super Mode: Its Armor Meter gauge is replaced with a different one, that slowly fills up, and fills faster when it "recharges" and you're attacking it. Once it's full, it'll enter a mode where it becomes briefly invincible and its attacks are laced with fire, trading its paralyzing capabilities for sheer raw damage. The gauge then slowly depletes; when it's empty, it'll turn back normal.
  • Switch-Out Move: Inverted - it can deploy devices at the corners of the arena that create "no switching out" circles. If you stand on their radius, you cannot switch out unless you either move out of its range, or destroy them with your attacks. The ELFs you may carry will also prioritize them over the boss.
  • Sword Beam: In its Super Mode, some of its sword attacks shoot slow-moving crescent beams.
  • Sword Plant: It has 2 moves like this where it plants its swords to the ground: one where it creates a paralyzing circle, and another (in Super Mode) where it causes a massive explosion.
  • Three-Strike Combo: One of its basic moves is to perform a 3 strike attack with its swords.

    Arahato
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arhat1.png

The Arahato is a sleek, ninja-like mech that was featured in the in-universe anime series AraHato broadcasted during the eighties. While on the surface it was a successful show with lots of merchandise and various adaptations, in reality it was a ploy by Anti-Entropy to create a 1-to-1 scale model of the titular mech that could fly to the Moon. It is also featured in the Reburn short video as Kiana's opponent.

  • Animated Armor: While it is normally piloted by either Siegfried or Einstein, Welt shows that his consciousness can move the mech around by sheer force of will.
  • BFS: The katana it carries around is massive, enough for Kiana to do a long-winded Blade Run in the Reburn animation.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Arhat is instrumental in depriving Sirin of a great deal of her power, stripping the Herrscher of the Gem of Conquest while she's busy fighting Welt in the dream world. It also shields Siegfried and Cecilia from Sirin's Superpower Meltdown.
  • Cyber Ninja: this giant robot is modeled after a ninja.
  • Defictionalization: An in-universe example, as the AraHato anime series and associated products and adaptations were all created by Anti-Entropy in order to gain enough funds to build the real deal. Siegfried, who grew up watching that show, positively squees when he finds out about this.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: The Arahato appears in the Reburn animation without much context to go with other than pursuing Kiana; long before it makes its appearance in the Second Eruption comic, which explains its relevance to the story.
  • Humongous Mecha: Of all the weapons Anti-Entropy could send to the Moon, it had to be this work of art, which moves around just like a normal human being despite its massive size.
  • Popularity Polynomial: In-universe example. In A Post-Honkai Odyssey, the mech has significantly gained more popularity in the post-Honkai era.

Alternative Title(s): Honkai Impact3rd Cocolia Orphanage
