QuentynMartell similarly believes that he's in a straight Heroic Fantasy story, with the added bonus that he thinks he's The Protagonist as well. Viserion and Rhaegal disabuse him of the notion when he tries to heroically tame them and gets burned to death for his trouble.
His uncle Oberyn Martell thinks he's the hero in a revenge story and will triumph in avenging the murder of his relatives by the Lannisters. He ends up dying in a Trial by Combat, even though he mortally wounded his opponent with his poisoned spear he drew out his revenge, allowing them to kill him.
These two are not Wrong Genre Savvy, they are just wrong. Both of them know the kind of world they are in, neither are functioning under that level of delusion. Quentyn thought that he was part of the (very real) prophecy, which was understandable since he's one of the few people still alive that has Targerian blood in him. Unfortunately for him, he was wrong and thus not fire proof, but given that we already have one person who IS fire proof, it doesn't make him Wrong Genre Savvy, since he could have been right and it would still fit in the story.
Oberyn is even more so. He definitely knows what kind of story he's in. A dark world where anybody can die. He doesn't think he will win the fight because his cause is just and noble, he thinks he can win the fight because he's faster, and more skilled then the Mountain, and even poisoned his spear.
