Are the Stepford Cuckoos "an actual shared consciousness"? Or are they just five-to-three telepaths who are "on the same wavelength" both literally and metaphorically? They can certainly disagree about things.
Would TV Tropes itself qualify in some respects? It seems to at times, actually...
So, if a god, Eldritch Abomination, or a similar supramundane entity by their very nature possesses multiple bodies that are driven by a singular mind/soul/consciousness IE , but said mind/soul/consciousness is explicitly not centralized in any of the bodies (i.e. as long as ANY of the bodies remains "alive", the entity does not die... assuming that they don't simply turn into an incorporeal ghost upon "death" and wait for a new [set of] body[s] to "regenerate"), does that qualify for Hive Mind?
Edited by MarqFJA Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. To quote a comment in the archived discussion that I didn't write, could someone explain the difference between "Hive Mind" and "Shared Consciousness," and why they are listed separately? Never mind, figured it out and relabeled them accordingly.
"you'd be hard-pressed to find a corner of the Earth connected via the Web that would ignore another group or individual's suffering upon it being posted online, even if that person(s) isn't even remotely or tangentially related to them. "
That's just a bit over-optimistic and pollyanna-ish and presumes the human race always acts for the best. Ever been around some superficially Christian sites where, for instance, Israeli bombing of Gaza is being discussed... you'll soon learn that's not always the case... "human nature" isn't always for the best and the Net reinforces not-so-positive opinions too!
