  • Starlight and Homelander both prefer to use their ranged attacks instead of their Super-Strength. With Starlight, this reinforces her dedication to being The Cape: her light blasts seem perfectly nonlethal, while her strength could easily cripple or kill an average person, and Starlight always warns people she doesn't want to hurt to close their eyes, lest she accidentally blind them. Homelander gives no warnings before reducing his opponents to Ludicrous Gibs (unless he's invoking Red Eyes, Take Warning for intimidation), and uses his Eye Beams not because he cares about not hurting people, but simply because he dislikes literally getting his hands dirty.

This entry is built around the assumption that Starlight's light beams are less dangerous than her fists, but this is never established. Her beams hit with enough impact to launch men across rooms and slam them into walls in mid-air, which is stronger than anything we see her do with her fists.

Well, her fists knock holes in a cinderblock wall, while her light beams just knock down a camera on a tripod. . .
