That doesn't automatically make the Star Wars aesop wrong.

Broken Aesop is not " aesop that is wrong" but yes " aesop that the story contradicts."
Where in the world did the troper who saw The Day the Earth Stood Still get the idea that lives were lost during the worldwide power outage scene? The film did mention that Klaatu promised professor Barnhart that he would perform a demonstration that wouldn't harm anyone, just get people's attention. And whether the earthlings knew about life on other planets or not, sending nuclear weapons into space is still a stupid idea.
And if the aesop in the Star Wars prequels regarding democracy is broken, then doesn't that mean we should've been rooting for the Empire from the get-go?
