YMMV / Zoey 102

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Almost everyone coincides that Todd is one of the best characters in the movie because he is handsome, funny, attentive to Zoey, and more helpful than the other characters, which is why many prefer to ignore that the final scene showed that Todd was indeed the serial killer and pretend that it doesn't exist.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: With the absence of fan-favorite characters like Lola, and Michael and others acting bizarrely out-of-character, many fans prefer to pretend this film didn't exist and the series panned out in the far happier ending of "Chasing Zoey".
  • Fridge Logic: PCA turning out to be unaccredited and Dean Rivers using it for embezzlement has a lot of negative repercussions in-universe, like everyone’s high school accreditation being useless in present day, but it’s never addressed how Zoey’s generation dealt with that issue.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most only watched for Logan and Quinn's wedding.
  • Memetic Mutation: The person Todd put in the dufflebag is a main character that was absent in this film such as Lola or Nicole which explains why they were never seen again after the show.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Stacey went from being a woobie to a completely annoying jerk, especially to Mark, who she treats terribly both as her assistant and husband. This is jarring considering that Stacey was the Butt-Monkey of PCA.
    • Lyric is seen as a Replacement Scrappy of Lola, on top of her character being a caricature of a Straw Feminist and not contributing to the plot in any way.
  • Strangled by the Red String: The Zoey/Chase Unresolved Sexual Tension, which was supposed to be resolved by the show’s Finale, is back once again because Zoey got scared and stood him up in Hawaii with no explanation. The situation gets worse because the movie is full of cliché shenanigansnote  that look ridiculous considering that Zoey is already in her 30’s. And conveniently, Chase broke up with his girlfriend before the wedding, so he won’t cheat on her with Zoey.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Many complain that Michael, Logan, and Chase don't get any scenes with some character development or interactions together. With the exception of Chase, both Logan and Michael get very little focus compared to the other characters, even below Stacey.
