YMMV / The Loud House S 2 E 3 Baby Steps Brawl In The Family

"Brawl in the Family"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: During the episode, Lincoln is the only sibling who doesn't find a reason to fight with one of his sisters. Is he the least bellicose of the family? Or does he just not think it's right to hit a woman?
  • Ass Pull: The fact that everyone, even Bobby, knows the Sister Fight Protocol, yet Lincoln is unaware of it despite living in the house for all of his life. Plus there is the fact that the sister's Protocol was never shown or mentioned before (which would imply that it was a fairly recent creation) and is never seen or mentioned again afterwards. It’s more than likely that none of the sisters bothered to tell Lincoln, not wanting him to deal with such time-wasting nonsense, but the fact that Bobby knows of it makes this humorously illogical. To add insult to injury, as Lucy states at the beginning, “It’s a Sister Thing”, so why should the male Bobby, who’s not even part of the family, know about such a situation?!
  • Bile Fascination: Much like No Such Luck, this episode receives the attention it does due to the sheer amount of hatred towards it. As a result, many people have decided to watch the episode themselves to see if it's as bad as everyone says it is.
  • Fanfic Fuel: This episode received a few fanfics that deconstructs the girls' Jerkass Ball and their poor treatment towards Lincoln, as well as addressing the major flaws of the Sister Fight Protocol and the complete idiocies of the entire family. A particularly well-known fic is Syngenesophobia, a What If? fic where the girls except Lily took their anger out on Lincoln instead of each other and the result was Lincoln being traumatized by the event.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: This episode, along with "No Such Luck", is one that fans like to pretend never happened. Mostly due to how senseless, unnecessary, and contradicting the whole episode is as well as everyone acting totally out of character.
  • Strawman Has a Point: The episode is meant to show Lincoln in the wrong for interfering with the Sister Fight Protocol, and let Lori and Leni resolve themselves. However, the two were fighting over something extremely petty (They bought the same dress, which Lincoln even lampshades as pretty stupid where he mentioned him and Clyde wore the same shirt once and neither complained) and none of the other sisters ever told Lincoln about the Protocol beforehand. Plus, the "compromise" ends with Lori winning by taking advantage of Leni's stupidity. Which effectively means the protocol doesn’t even work anyway. Speaking of which, their fighting interrupts the others' daily life. Lincoln's other sisters are no better, as they insulted one another behind their back and using Lincoln's possessions without his permission. As a result, the girls come off as being too stubborn, stupid and selfish to admit that they are just as much to blame for the fight getting worse as much as Lincoln's loose lips. As a result, it's rather easy to side with Lincoln on the matter and even feel bad for him, since the sisters place the blame for the worsening fight all on him, when they are clearly to blame.
