YMMV / The Loud House S 2 E 12 Potty Mouth L Is For Love

Go To

"L is for Love"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Was Luna feeling insecure about her crush on Sam because of Gayngst and was afraid of Incompatible Orientation, or does she just has low self-esteem when it comes to love in general?
  • Ass Pull: All of the siblings are suddenly revealed to have love interests who, with the exception of Bobby, have never been seen or mentioned before, and in most cases are not seen or mentioned again after this episode (so far, only Sam, Chaz and Benny managed to stick). Lincoln and Lucy's love interests, Paige and Silas, are particularly notable, since both of them already had different love interests before this episode (Lincoln had Cristina and Ronnie Anne, and Lucy had Rocky), and Lincoln even gets a new crush later (Stella).
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Upon the episode's airing, Sam, Luna's crush, became instantly popular with the fandom due to her cute appearance and positive portrayal in the LGBTQ community for later giving the first canon lesbian couple on the show.
    • Winston, Lola's crush, also became popular to a lesser extent, with plenty of fan works featuring him and Lola made shortly after the episode aired. Sadly, unlike Sam, he did not get any more appearances.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: To most shipping-oriented Lucy fans, her fling with Silas never happened. Besides her Cargo Ship with Edwin the vampire bust, Rocky is her only love interest. A lot of shipping fan art features the Loud siblings with their love interests from "L is for Love" except for Lucy and Lincoln, whose fling with Paige is similarly discounted in favor of Ronnie Anne.
  • It Was His Sled: The reveal that Luna's crush, Sam, is female became such a major topic in the animation community that it's no longer considered a spoiler and really nothing to sneeze at. It's pretty much common knowledge at this point, considering that Luna and Sam became an Official Couple later in the show.
  • Strangled by the Red String:
    • Lincoln and Paige for some people. When Lincoln wins a video game, Paige gives him a thumbs-up, causing him to blush. He's only known her for a few minutes and he's already in love with her.
    • Lola and Winston. She's only known him for a few minutes yet she's already blushing over him.
  • The Woobie: Luna who is notably the only Loud kid to suffer anxiety over confessing to her crush since she thinks there's no way Sam would be interested in her, not only implying that her self-esteem might be more fragile than is normally apparent (though considering how hurt Luna has gotten when yelled at by her siblings, maybe it's not a surprise) but Luna might have been struggling with her sexuality in addition to her feelings of unworthiness.
