  • Adaptation Displacement: The film was based on a book.
  • Awesome Music: The sweet, sad song Annie sings while she and Teddy are living with Chauncey. It's quite beautiful to listen to but have a tissue ready.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Teddy calling Annie by her real name just before the two of them find new families.
    • Chauncey befriending the old, homeless man during the credits.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Some fans prefer not counting the television series after the original special as it robs the happy ending Annie and Teddy got at the end as they get homeless again after being separated from their new owners at the airport. Not helping is that the series never had a proper ending and with the death of Bob Hoskins hinders any chances on continuing the series.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • As mentioned above, the song "Anywhere" really tugs at your heart. Coupled with Teddy actually starting to cry as Annie sings it...
    • Chauncey turns down the chance to find a human family and watches his two friends go off to their new lives. It was his choice, but the image of him standing alone in the snow, whilst his two friends go off to start their new lives is really upsetting. Fortunately, it gets averted when he meets the old homeless man and a still image in the credits shows the pair became good friends.
    • The ending will probably have you crying happy tears. As they play a happy song, set to a gentle piano melody, we see Annie and Teddy get adopted by a brother and a sister meaning they won't be separated and will be together after their adventure. The last image of the film is of the two friends with their arms around each other, sitting happily in a corner of their new room.
    • The fact that the show only ran for 26 episodes before stopping and never had a true ending with Annie and Teddy finding their children, meaning that they're possibly still out there searching for them to this day. Teddy's voice actor, Bob Hoskins, retired from acting in 2012 before tragically passing away in 2014 hinders all possible chances of any more episodes.
