  • Broken Base: The reveal that the EH crew are going Patreon-only after show 100 so they could fund a movie they want to make has split their listener base. Some are perfectly fine with their decision, understanding they have a lot to do in their real lives (Dave and Christian have families, Brandon is going to school, and all have jobs to support themselves) and wishing them luck on their endeavors. At the same time, there are others who see this as a middle finger to those who’ve supported them the best they could and don’t have a Patreon account to support them, feeling they’re being left behind on all the fun.
  • Critical Backlash: Dave Zee follows this trope to a T as he laments how there are many movies out there that get a lot of hate from critics and horror fans alike, that he actually thought were either surprisingly good or So Okay, It's Average. The Nightmare On Elm Street remake and Halloween II (2009) are the best examples, as he basically says that he likes them better than most of the other sequels in the series.
  • Crossing the Line Twice: When discussing the Friday the 13th timeline in their Jason Takes Manhattan review, Brandon laments that it was impossible for the film to be set in 2002 because the first shot is of twin towers.
    Dave Zee: Oh, you’re bad.

    • Any voicemail by Horror Mafia host Bill Cassinelli is bound to cross that line:
"What’s the difference between Adolf Hitler and Michael Phelps? At least Phelps could finish a race."
"They say there’s saftey in numbers. Tell that to 6 million Jews."
"What does anal sex and Brussels sprouts have in common? When you’re forced to have them as a kid, you’re probably gonna hate it as an adult."
"What’s the difference between a dead baby and a jar of mayonnaise? I don’t fuck my mayonnaise.
"I sent two jokes to Japan. Both of them bombed."
  • Fanon Discontinuity: They’ve mentioned many times that if and when they tackle a specific series, they’ll only do 3 of the movies (i.e. Return of the Living Dead Trilogy, Exorcist Trilogy, etc). As far as they’re concerned, if the series goes to shit after Part 3 it’s not worth covering.
  • Growing the Beard: Many agree that Episode 10 was their the groups chemistry became more natural.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • In earlier episodes Christian was super excited about the prospect of a new Friday the 13th film finally coming out soon and predicted that it would come out on October 13th, 2017. Come 2017 and the project was unceremoniously cancelled due to the poor reception of Rings.
    • During the Savini-Slasher show, the hosts eagerly point out that The Burning was an early Weinstein production, showing how far a small company has grown from the early days of exploitive slasher movies to one of the big names in Hollywood. This episode was released in April 2017 and while they haven’t lost their love for the movie, it doesn’t hide the fact that the episode was released months before Harvey Weinstein was exposed as a sex offender, giving the company a bad name that they’ll always be remembered for.
    • In the Halloween retrospect Part 1, Christian says jokingly that once Halloween (2018) comes out and becomes a hit, Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller will settle the the Friday the 13th lawsuit and make another movie again. As of 2019, it not only still hasn’t been settled yet, but merchandise has slowed down in the process.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: By contrast to his upbeat optimism over the cancelled Friday the 13th film, Christian also felt that the chances of a new Halloween sequel coming out were next to impossible. Come 2018 and look who came back first...
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Signed by Clive Barker and sold on eBay. Explanation
    • Now THATS Horror! explanation
    • Brandon Don’t Breathe! explanation
    • Bleached Assholes. Explanation
  • Never Live It Down: Brandon has many favorite horror movies that are beloved amongst horror fans. Nobody lets him forget that he chose Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood as his favorite horror film of 1988 despite him saying it’s not his favorite of that year.
  • Pandering to the Base: A major criticism Brandon had with Halloween (2018) was that, for a film that promotes itself as being a true follow up to the original, it spent too much time pleasing the die hard fans by putting in so many Easter Eggs and references to the past films instead of focusing on telling a good story, stating that it brought his enjoyment of the film down. Dave and Christian, meanwhile, loved that it acknowledged the past films and rather it did that than try to alienate the fans.
  • Reviews Are the Gospel: Averted. They don’t treat their reviews as the end all be all source to vindicate somebody else’s opinion on a film and even encourage their listeners to go out and see the movies they discuss and form their own opinions, even if they thought a film was mediocre.
  • Vindicated by History:
    • All of them felt this way about Halloween III: Season of the Witch. They hated it simply because it lacked Michael Myers, but overtime they grew to love it and consider it one of the best of the franchise.
    • Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is both inverted and played straight with Dave. When he saw it in the theater he enjoyed it, then over time he liked it less and less until he ranked it as one of his least favorites. Come the Friday the 13th retrospect and Dave has since bounced back up and considers it So Okay, It's Average.
    • Christian admitted many times over that he never liked The Descent, that he felt it was a boring, slow paced movie that put him to sleep in the theater. Recently he re-watched the film for a show and did a full 180 on it. Now he enjoys it more and sees why it’s considered a great film.
