YMMV / Stargate Origins

Go To

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Between the low production values, Reset Button Ending, uninspired acting, and conflicts with both the movie and show's continuity, some fans would rather just pretend that this series doesn't exist.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Despite the lackluster production values, Origins still provides an entertaining, self-contained side-story to the Stargate-verse, and is worth a watch if you're starved for more Stargate content.
  • Special Effects Failure: The dialing sequences use some... interesting... camera angles. Note that we don't actually see either gate dial except for close-up shots of people straining to turn the dial, and CGI of the dial turning.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Many fans have been upset with the design of the stargate and the wormhole puddle, which appears more similar to the original movie version than the SG-1 version (unlighted chevrons, metallic tint rather than stone, and a puddle more white than blue).
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The wormhole transit sequence, essentially a modern update of the original sequence from the 1994 movie, is by far the most detailed and stunning version yet.
