- Badass Decay: For many fans, this episode marked the final push in the decay of the Borg. It's best exemplified by the fact that the last time Voyager took on a Borg ship head-to-head, it was a Borg Sphere, one of their comparatively smaller ships, which had been damaged by an ion storm. Here, they take on a Tactical Cube, an even more powerful version of the ships previously sent to attack the Federation in "The Best of Both Worlds" and Star Trek: First Contact, and if anything have an even easier time of things than they did with the sphere, despite losing the Delta Flyer.
- Special Effects Failure:
- The full-CGI scene introducing the Borg Queen in this episode isn't particularly well-done, and the compositing of her chest bonding with her body looks similarly off.
- Captain Picard's bald head served well for Borg assimilation, but Captain Janeway's My Brain Is Big-look is obviously covering her famous red hair.
- When Voyager goes to warp after Tuvok's scans begin to go south, the nacelles don't glow until the ship actually jumps, whereas normally they glow all the time.
