  • Accidental Innuendo: Any Italian-speaking person would struggle a bit with taking Oicazzo's nickname seriously, because 'cazzo' is a really vulgar way to say penis, and saying 'o cazzo' is analogous to saying 'oh fuck'.
  • Awesome Music: Both openings for the anime by FZMZ, "Broken Games" and "Danger Danger", get the blood pumping for the kind of challenge that Sunraku seeks.
  • Fan Nickname: Due to the main character going around with his head constantly covered, focusing on evading hits while not wearing armor, Dual Wielding weapons, and plans to fight a Unique Boss on his own, the series sometimes gets called Let Me Solo Her: The Anime.
  • Les Yay: It's very easy to read Pencilgon's affection for Setsuna as romantic, what with her obsession with completing the quest involving Setsuna even if it meant fighting one of the strongest bosses in the game. After Setsuna's ghost disappears following the quest's completion, Pencilgon goes out of her way to deliver flowers to her grave as fast as she can after respawning (the flower is even named setsunatowa, which Pencilgon says is perfect for the two of them).
  • Woolseyism:
    • When Sunraku witnesses another player get killed by the Clown Spider, he assumes a stereotypical prayer gesture. In the original Japanese he intones "namu", a Buddhist expression akin to "amen" in Christianitynote . In the English dub, this was replaced by a solemn "Fs in chat".
    • One of the other in-universe shitty games is Berserk Online Passion (ベルセルク・オンライン・パッション), officially abbreviated as ベンP (ben-P) but derisively known as 便秘 (benpi; constipation). The anime subtitles instead write the abbreviation as BOP and change the colloquial abbreviation to BERP (Berserk Online Passion) to maintain the bodily function joke.
    • Bilac derisively refers to her Abhorrent Admirer Aramis as "Baka-mis" which the English sub and dub alike change to "ignoramus", preserving the insult while adding another layer by having the nickname be an actual word that rhymes with Aramis's name.
