  • Fanon Discontinuity:
    • It's better safe to say that most fans (particularly the Thomas fans) just prefer to ignore this episode existed, where it was revealed all this time, that he was a Russian spy and then went on the run because of plot. It doesn't help that it's never even ever really brought up again and is more or less an excuse to write Thomas out of the show.
    • People who still ship Benson/Audrey, prefer to ignore, that they broke up for seemingly no reason, though Audrey may have dumped Benson after she saw him yelling at Mordecai and Rigby.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: This episode has been branded a commentary on the current tense situation between the United States and Russia. Difference is, this episode's conflict is over a piece of land being ripped up and taken to Russia, while in real-life, it is over Russia possibly inciting a pro-Russian uprising in Ukraine (That officially claims by Russian government they denied any involvement with Russian rebels, just as the Russian general in this episode denied stealing American soil) and Vladimir Putin's borderline-extremist anti-gay policies, and in last year it was taking small land from their nation's neighbors. It got to the point that most international versions (the UK and Asian versions, especially) aired the episode with all Russian references either edited or altered so that way the warring country is named "Druznia" and its citizens are called "Druzniks" (along with the usual cuts for rude humor, sexual innuendo, and violence that goes beyond what's acceptable for kids).
    • Russia Today (RT) agrees with this notion, calling the episode "pro-American propaganda".
